  1. I think that we can all agree that the games industry needs to improve its image with the general public. Stuff like the Dead Island thing is not helping.
  2. No, he left, but that's a good idea, I'll hit him up on Steam.
  3. I'm looking for stuff that would work well as local multiplayer, and isn't just ridiculously complicated. Do those work for that?
  4. I'm fine except that my graphics card is basically on-par with their recommended.
  5. I'm having that problem too. I'm having trouble finding games off my backlog that aren't going to take me six million hours to play through.
  6. I didn't get that so much as that rather than just being convinced that you're right you should actually listen to the other person's point of view and give it serious thought.
  7. Thread for discussing strategy games in general, be they TBS, RTS, whatever. I'll start with a question: Does anyone know of any console or PC strategy games that play like a tabletop wargame. Something like Advance Wars would be great, although ideally you'd be able to customize your units/army. Console would be better than PC, because really I'd like something that I could play with people on the couch, get as close to the tabletop feel as possible without having to actually spend hours setting up the battlefield and taking time to do all the dice rolls, etc. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
  8. I feel that in any conversation about sex or sexuality all references to pegs and holes must be puns. Failure to do so should be a bannable offense.
  9. lmao. Laughing my sad, sad ass off. I'm not angry with you, Bioware, I'm just... disappointed.
  10. He must not want us godless imperialists to gain the benefit of his work.
  11. Unwritten looks nifty. The story premise sounds similar to Journey, and gameplay wise they describe it as feeling like a TBS-roguelike.
  12. I think they showed that off at last year's CES too. I definitely remember seeing it a while ago.
  13. Were there not official English versions before now?
  14. My understanding was that in the US the punctuation always goes inside the quotes, whereas in the UK it only goes inside the quote if it's actually part of the quote.
  15. So after playing the game with my sister and her boyfriend, I decided I would like it a lot if it were a computer game. I really love the mechanics, and the way battles play out and building your own units and everything, but calculating the results of combat and everything just takes so long. It would be nice to have it on the computer where the computer could handle all that tedious stuff. Potentially even better would be a Wii U one since I'd be more likely to get my family and people to play it.
  16. I turn it off whenever I'm not using it. The sync time on it is basically zero as far as I can tell, so it's not really any less convenient.
  17. Yeah. Richard Nixon was Eisenhower's VP, before Eisenhower there were 20 years of Democrat presidents. Then Nixon was elected as president. Ford took over after Nixon and wasn't ever actually elected. Then when Reagan was elected George Bush Sr. was his VP. Then George Bush Sr. and then George Bush Jr. were elected, and then we're to the present. There were various Democrats scattered through there, but that's not what we're talking about so I left them out. *Edit* - Basically, the statement is true but it's fairly meaningless.
  18. Started this morning. I'm probably going to start a new game tomorrow without the tutorial, since now I've gotten the hang of it and I want to be able to do stuff like launch satellites sooner, etc.
  19. Okay, whatever, all I'm saying is that if you give me dialog choices then don't make the cutscene character directly contradict my approach 3 seconds later. Either don't give me the choices, make the character's attitude in cutscenes change based on them, or make the cutscenes such that they work well with any choices.
  20. I actually have the k400 for my HTPC. The first set of batteries are still going strong like 6 months in, but I don't use it just a ton, I have an actual remote I use most of the time.
  21. Yes, it does reflect your choices in the ending, but until the final cutscene they have absolutely no effect.
  22. What kind of stuff would it be able to reuse that would lessen the CPU/GPU load, other than not having to store more stuff in memory? Honest question.
  23. No, telling me a story without choices would have been fine. What bugged me was how they gave me choices but then didn't reflect them at all. It created really bad ludonarrative dissonance. If in every single cutscene Vincent is going to be all then don't give me the option to act the complete opposite of that when I'm in control. Don't let me, through dialog choices, scream from the rooftops If they don't want to give me choices that's fine, but if they do give me choices then those choices need to be reflected, or at the very least not completely contradicted, when the character is in a cutscene.
