  1. By the time the origin story's over it's time to reboot the series.
  2. The big ones that the Republicans didn't like were military cuts, and the big ones for the Dems were Social Security, Medicare, etc. A lot of people thought it would cripple the economy because the US government is such a big spender that the loss of all that money would cause contraction of the economy.
  3. Basically a couple years ago to get a budget agreement congress passed a temporary budget and then built in to it that if they didn't have a more permanent agreement by 2013 then all these huge spending cuts would go into effect, some stuff that Republicans would hate and other stuff that Democrats would hate. The idea was to force them to come to an agreement that worked for both sides, because if they didn't then something would happen that everyone hated.
  4. That last one I was just so starved for fuel the whole time that I couldn't run around collecting upgrades. I think my best one would have been Mission 4 if I hadn't gotten greedy and hung out exploring too long.
  5. So that was certainly a thing that happened. I suspect that putting it in this thread is somewhat missing the point, but I'm going to do it anyway. 2013 Games Beat Summary: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AjdwRHHO_yANdFFRWEt4VXlvejdUcjk2alg0TEt3R1E&usp=sharing
  6. I made an Excel spreadsheet (started at the beginning of the year, so it's not like I did it all last night) and just put in a bunch of formulas for metrics I was interested in. *Edit* - Here are the actual Excel files if anyone's interested: Backlog Games I Beat *Edit 2* - Also, here's my current backlog, in the order in which they were added: The Witcher Alpha Protocol Deus Ex: Human Revolution The Witcher 2 Dragon Age II Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning Killzone 3 Dark Souls Prototype 2 Far Cry 3 Lone Survivor Spec Ops: The Line Bioshock 2 Sleeping Dogs The Last Story Thirty Flights of Loving XCOM: Enemy Unknown Transformers: War for Cybertron Anno 2070 The current average age of a backlog entry is 157 days (from the time of adding to the backlog, not the time of release).
  7. I beat 37 games this year, with an average of 13 hours per game (to beat them, some games I kept playing after, like Arkham City and Mass Effect 3) and among all the games I beat spent a total of 481.5 hours. The average age of the games at the time I beat them was 343 days, or 0.94 years. And some charts: That data is only counting games I actually beat, games I played but did not complete are not counted in those totals, so I spent more hours than that would represent. On the bar chart the blue bars represent the months in which the games I beat were released, and the red represents the months I actually beat the game. As you would expect the most games were released in November, but apparently I spend the most time playing them in July. Coincidentally July is the only month with no releases among the games I beat. Also a chart of my backlog progress: The blue line is the actual number of games on the backlog, the red is a trendline. There's quite a bit of overlap with the games I beat, but it's not total; I removed games from the backlog whenever I decided I was done playing them, so I didn't necessarily beat every game I removed. Also, if I started playing a game immediately after getting it then I never put it on the backlog in the first place. I find it amusing how obviously Steam sales show up on that chart. The average length of time a game was on the backlog before being removed is 212 days, and the average playtime before removal is 6 hours. Neither of those account for games still on the backlog.
  8. I do find it amusing that my highest score was on my first attempt.
  9. I've been playing this game today and keeping a log of my attempts, then I came here to post it and learned there wasn't a thread! I know that some of you guys play it, so I'm making one. Anyway, spoiler-tagged for length, but here are my first 5 attempts at this game:
  10. Despicable Me. It seems really directionless for the first half of the movie, but picks up in the second.
  11. I assumed it was from failbook.
  12. Yeah, I almost never buy videogames anywhere else, because they almost always have far and away the best prices (with the exception of Steam, and they even sometimes top Steam).
  13. I've had okay luck with Seagate and WD, but WD has always been the better of the two in my experience.
  14. I think accounts may be tied to specific consoles too, not sure on how that works.
  15. Yeah, the Nintendo characters are only in the Wii U version. *Edit* - Though there is precedent for Mario on PCs. I'm sure you all remember the much-lauded Mario Teaches Typing.
  16. It wasn't the film Nolan deserved, it was the one he needed right now. I'm sorry, I had to. But yeah, I totally agree it's the weakest of the series. Still it's really only bad in comparison to the first two.
  17. I feel like there are some jokes going over my head in that comment. Anyway: Via Dean's post in the game deals thread.
  18. Confirmed that it also works in the US, making it $17.50 here. *Edit* - Huh, on the purchase page it said it was the North America version, but when I put the key into Steam it said it's the Worldwide version. Not a problem, just strange.
  19. Apparently Gamersgate isn't honoring that ridiculous pack. They're issuing refunds.
  20. At least the one I got you're not really supposed to fly outside. Even inside, the airflow from our heating system was enough to make controlled flight difficult.
  21. From Metalcaveman. He has defeated me at Christmas.
