Aaaaand Smash Bros Wii U to be shown at E3. I still don't think these announcements were earth-shattering or anything, but they have reassured me about my Wii U purchase. I was on the brink of regretting it. The only thing I'd really still like to see would be DS games on the eShop.

Another thing 360 controllers have are the little studs. Never see them anywhere else, but I'd be surprised if having studs is locked down by MS.

First impressions: It found only 14 of the god knows how many games I've got installed. Several hundred? It's recommending that I turn up the graphics settings on several games that I've already played and adjusted for consistent framerate. Now they're all games I haven't played in a while, so maybe driver updates have improved performance, but it is making me skeptical about how good this really is at determining optimal settings. It will at least be useful as a place to start, I suppose. *Edit* - It would be nice if in the preferences it would let you tell it whether to prioritize framerate or picture quality. *Edit 2* - Although now that I think about it some more, all of the games it wanted me to adjust only had 1 or 2 settings differences, and they were small changes, so I guess it was pretty close to what I'd concluded myself. Except for Skyrim, it wanted me to turn up all the distances and everything. Like double what I had picked.

I do agree with this. I mean, I don't give a shit about the transfer fees because I didn't buy anything on the Wii VC, but if I had I'd be irritated. This approach to online content would have been nice if it had been announced at Wii launch, but now the best you can really say about it is that it's a step up from Wii. I'm mostly just excited about confirmation of stuff we already knew was coming eventually (3D Mario, Zelda, Mario Kart) and Wind Waker HD. That last one cause I'm a tool.

Well obviously you should exercise a little judgment in whether to publish it, but just the fact that it's a rumor I don't think means you shouldn't touch it at all.

More common for me is that I play a demo, decide it's highly meh and that I'm not getting the game, then later end up picking it up after hearing how great it is. Shadow Complex comes to mind. I don't know if it's because the demo tends to be the beginning of the game and start out slow, or what.

Eh, I'm okay with sites posting rumors they can't verify, as long as the articles make it clear that it's just a rumor.

I didn't buy Burnout Paradise because FUCK BURNOUT PARADISE! Ruined my favorite racing series.

Vanquish? I know it's happened to me, but I also know it's a lot less common than convincing me NOT to buy a game. Normally when it happens it's because the media available makes the game look like some generic entry in the genre, but then the demo shows me that it's actually quite good.

Obviously it's subjective, but even based on those pictures I think they captured the look of the original. It's not identical of course, and as I said there's a little too much gradient on the characters, but overall I still think the captured the same type of hand-drawn/-painted style.

If someone who has been successful getting GCN games to run on Dolphin wants to do that, that would be great I agree. I just used the shots from Nintendo's video. *Edit* - But anyway the point wasn't that the GCN version looked like shit, it was that they managed to capture the art style in the Wii U version. I agree there's a little bit too much color gradient on the characters, but overall I think they very much captured the look.

I don't necessarily need dubs, subs would be fine preferable with me. Do you know if there are fan subs available?
