  1. Wait, she's seen it and still doesn't believe it? How does that work?
  2. That looks like a battleship, which if that's the case we don't use those anymore. The ships we'd be mounting these guns on are much smaller. More like this: The turret on that is much more comparable to the one in the video (though still larger).
  3. Makes me think of Twinkle Star Sprites. My friends and I used to play that all the time and never had any idea what caused the various things to happen.
  4. Yeah, that's exactly what knock on wood means. Something about scaring away the bad luck elves or some such.
  5. Ships are huge, but you still need the gun to be small enough that it can be turreted so it's aimable. It doesn't do you any good to be able to put a rail gun on a ship if it's fixed in one direction. Unless you want to go back to the "close to point-blank range and broadside" method of ship combat.
  6. My understanding is that this is demonstrating a turret that could potentially actually be mounted on a ship, whereas previous ones have been too large.
  7. Are you just trying to sound dirty or is that actually the English vs. English version of "knock on wood"?
  8. It was really hard to find one that didn't say "A House Divided", which I didn't want since I actually went to both schools myself.
  9. Supposedly what appears to be fire is actually due to heat generated from air friction.
  10. I believe the NaTM quote is "I'm the token black guy, I'm just sposed to stay out of the conversation and say things like 'damn!', 'shit!', and 'that is wack!'"
  11. Spec Ops made him notice how bad they are, when previously he hadn't noticed that?
  12. No more health potions? Do you just have to visit a doctor or what?
  13. That's why I chose a handheld barbell as an example: the bulbs at either end would make it easier to see/track. And yeah Kinect tracks where your hands are but it's not great at tracking their orientation, plus it would make it seem more natural for the player if they were actually holding something when imitating an activity where you hold something (like tennis or sword fighting or whatever).
  14. But you keep calling it a "Beatles song".
  15. Two made sense to me, there's no way you're getting that whole story into a single movie without cutting a lot of stuff out, but three seems excessive.
  16. But you could add in a handle, and have Kinect pass the handle position/orientation to the game for the game to do whatever it wants with it. I'm not saying the person would use whatever object they wanted, I'm saying they would use a special handle specifically designed to be recognized and tracked by Kinect, and that the GAME could map that position data to whatever object they wanted the handle to represent.
  17. But the Beatles didn't exist anymore when he wrote the song. It was a song written by a former Beatle, but it wasn't a Beatles song.
  18. I didn't mean the actual weapon, just a handle with something at either end that Kinect can recognize and track. You could map it to a sword or a tennis racket or whatever you want. The part about the refs holding grudges for you swearing at them cracks me up.
  19. Yeah, I never looted bodies either. It was too time consuming for how little you got out of it.
  20. Finished Bulletstorm. Quite unlikely I'll get any more games done.
