  1. That reason is called money.
  2. Something about the aiming felt off to me, not the movement. I don't think it had to do with the character having weight. Either way, it's entirely subjective.
  3. The cell gave them a slight tech advantage in first-party titles, but overall it was a liability because it made it a PITA for third-party developers and the PS3 versions of multiplats suffered as a result. I don't see Sony making that mistake again. Moving away from the cell doesn't mean they'd have to R&D their own architecture all over again. There are architectures out there, you know. There's no reason they couldn't use PowerPC (like 360 does) or x86 or anything else. *Edit* - All of that said, Cell in a PS4 would be less of a liability than it was in PS3 because devs have gotten used to working with it now.
  4. Americans don't tend to like British comedy though, so even though more of the money made would go to the British producers if they just straight up syndicated it there will likely be less money overall because fewer people will watch it. As far as Sherlock goes, can you really blame them? The source material's in the public domain. Why license it when you can make your own?
  5. I thought the atmosphere was fantastic but the shooting was crap, much like Bioshock. Couldn't get in to either of them.
  6. But I don't pirate, and I'm still going to have to live in that dystopian future. I actually think OnLive and similar services are the future of gaming. Too bad it's unplayable from my location due to latency.
  7. No, I totally believe they got it working, I just want to know how, and I don't think any of the explanations you suggested work.
  8. I don't understand what's mind-blowing...
  9. I just watched the rest on Youtube, and they've all been quite improved. Bioware did a really good job with this. Why couldn't they have done this good a job from the start.
  10. Hell of a lot better than the originals. If these had been the endings in the first place, I doubt anyone would have bitched about them. Yeah, I agree. I mean, some people would have bitched because some people will always bitch, but I think the overall consensus would have been that it was a good ending to the trilogy.
  11. I picked destroy again, because it's the only one that fits my Shep's character, and I thought they nailed it. Closure was all I really cared about, and it gave that. I'll watch the other endings tomorrow so I can see how differentiated (if at all) they are from each other.
  12. The tower itself was just called the West Tower or some shit before, right?
  13. I'd be quite surprised if they have BC unless they keep the same architecture and can run PS3 games natively. Keeping Cell seems unlikely though.
  14. He realized Korra just wasn't that in to him, and he accepted it. Like he told Asami, he moved on.
  15. I, however, do have an engineering degree (not practicing though). Yes, it matters how thick an insulator is. What I'm saying is that air between the chip and the fan/heat sink in any thickness is too thick to transfer the heat off the chip to the fan/heat sink quickly enough. They may have increased the efficiency with which the sink dissipates heat to the surrounding air but that doesn't do them any good if the chip can't get the heat to sink quickly enough. A fire hose doesn't do you any good if you've only got a kitchen faucet feeding it. *Edit* - I'd also like to add that my degree is in Mechanical Engineering, and in my studies I focused on thermodynamics and heat transfer systems.
  16. Yeah, I think the era of backward compatibility was short lived and is now past.
  17. Mainstream I agree is a good term for those gamers. The enthusiasts are the group that I think Nintendo is making a mistake by not sufficiently enticing. I'm definitely in the "interested but not quite sold" category. If they'd announced a 3D Mario I'd be sold (I'm already quite interested by Pikmin 3 and Scribblenauts and ZombiU). Basically I completely agree with everything in your third paragraph. Tangentially related to this, I want a full-fledged Pokemon game on home console! I know it will never happen though.
  18. I don't think the people who refuse to play Mario because it's not a cover shooter are "the core". I agree you're never going to get them to buy anything other than PSXboxes, but they're not who I was talking about. I was talking about the enthusiasts, the kind of people who visit this forum and read gaming blogs. I don't think those kind of people have any illusions about Mario not being a serious game.
  19. I think the only mistake they're making wrt the enthusiast market is that they're half-assing it. It really isn't hard to get enthusiasts to buy your hardware, you just have to have the "core" games to justify it. If Nintendo had announced Pikmin 3, a new 3D Mario, and Smash Bros in the launch window I think they'd have the core locked up. Zelda would also be nice, but I realize that's unrealistic with how recently Skyward Sword released.
  20. I feel really bad for Bolin and Asami.
  21. € is euros, £ is pounds (as in British money). *Edit* - Holy shit Bloodlines is only €10?! It's still $20 over here.
  22. It doesn't matter how small the air gap is, you need a solid connection with a highly thermally conductive material or the chip will fry itself. Even putting two pieces of metal up against each other isn't good enough, you have to have thermal paste in between. And changing the color of the fan to increase absorption wouldn't increase the radiation of the chip, and there's no way the radiation would be high enough to dump all that heat. If it were you wouldn't need a fan at all. I'm not saying they haven't solved the problem, I'm just wondering how they did it.
  23. I think Nintendo's making a mistake by chasing the casual audience again. I really don't see how Nintendo's going to overcome the "but I already have a Wii" view.
  24. LA Noire is 75% off on Steam, $5 for the regular, $7.50 for the complete edition. I recommend it if you haven't played it already.
  25. FYI on 360 the Extended Cut isn't showing up under new releases, you have to go to the ME3 page, and even then it's at the end of the list.
