  1. Is this one of those "I hate her because everyone else likes her and I don't think she's anything special" things, or do you have an actual reason?
  2. I think my favorite kind of health bar is the one in Halo: Reach (the actual health bar, not the shields) where it will regen by thirds, so it won't regen completely but you always have enough health that you can't get yourself into an impossible situation.
  3. They already know that, but they don't care because the CGI trailers build hype specifically without showing us what the game will be like.
  4. I was wondering about that during the conference when they were talking about the online stuff (for some reason it hadn't ever occurred to me before). That significantly diminishes the appeal of this game for me.
  5. I'm okay with non-regenerating health bars if they actually add something to the game experience beyond the ability to completely fuck yourself over, and this game looks like it could add something.
  6. @FDS: No, they still pussyfooted. All they said in response to that question was "the enemies, as always, are the Templars." Though one thing that had me thinking was that since it covers 30 years total, with time after the Revolution, there weren't just a whole lot of redcoats hanging around afterward...
  7. I was fucking stoked until the shooting started. Still quite interested, but less than I was before.
  8. Was that still a thing? I thought that Halo 4 being announced for 360 this fall kinda torpedoed any chances of them releasing the 720 before next fall.
  9. It's fucking miserable outside, and it's not even that hot! It's 90, which is warm, but with the humidity I'd swear it was at least 95, probably closer to 100.

Same here in Texas. I hate this world and everything in it.

  10. Yeah, South Park looked awesome, that's probably the game I'm most excited for out of this conference. Halo looked nice, but I'm still waiting to see how it feels since it's not the same team making it. The Black Ops trailer kinda threw me though. I get that somebody hacks all the drones and whatnot to use against us, that's fine, but I'm also supposed to believe they somehow got a fucking army's worth of dudes into the US and equipped without anyone knowing? At least in MW2/3 they were able to explain that with the whole thing about Russia being tricked into attacking us, so you have a source for all the guys.
  11. Even if not, I can grow a pretty mean neckbeard...
  12. "Face buttons" = ABXY. Those are locked in place on that controller, there's no module for them.
  13. Okay, they've definitely gotten cheaper. When I looked last they were about $80 plus $15 shipping, now they're $48 with $9 shipping. On that note:
  14. Yeah, me too. I'd finally justified the price to myself, and then I found out that shipping was like another $15-20 and said screw it.
  15. Yes, like that but with the face buttons too.
  16. They look in focus to me, there's just a limitation on how much depth of field you can get on miniatures: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macro_photography#Depth_of_field
  17. Well maybe not every controller, but it'd be nice if there were like premium (or "pro" controllers, perhaps?) that had the option.
  18. I use Opera Mini on my phone, and I like that a lot. I've never really liked the desktop version though.
  19. No different than getting used to the d-pad being down where the left analog pad had been when the Xbox was introduced. I still maintain that every controller should have 4 modules, one each for the d-pad, each stick, and the face buttons, that you can rearrange however the hell you want.

Yeah, I think it should be a defense to a patent infringement lawsuit that you invented the thing independently. Patents would still be there to prevent idea-copying/reverse engineering, but if you truly did come up with it on your own you'd be safe.
  21. From what (admittedly little) I know about it I thought that only applied to people not yet born, that it didn't change the existing line of succession for people who are already living.
  22. What's wrong with nostalgia? As long as you recognize what it is, and don't fall into the "old things are objectively better" trap I think it's fine.
  23. So forgive me if I'm way behind the curve on this one, but I now have a theory as to why it appears that every firebender (or at least a lot of them) can bend lightning also: In TLA it was explained that lightning came from calm, deliberate manipulation of energy, and that the Fire Nation had perverted firebending to be based on rage and emotion. So my thought is that Zuko, in reforming the Fire Nation, also worked to bring firebending back to its origins, and that the change in focus allows more people to bend lightning because it's no longer at odds with the basis of their firebending.
  24. People who have Youtube channels, what program do you use for editing fraps videos? What do you think is best?

I use Adobe Premiere Pro, but finding the right export settings is a challenge. I use to have Sony Vegas years ago, and I'm sure it's still in the closet at home, but it's an old version.

  25. The survival mechanics look awesome. This is the first time I've been interested in a Tomb Raider game since... ever.
