  1. yeah, I always thought it meant paraffin wax too.
  2. Letterboxing doesn't bother me, it just struck me as odd and I was wondering if it was actually the game or if it was something about the capture/upload process.
  3. Yeah, it's probably cheaper to just buy the season passes for Mythbusters. I didn't even know that was a thing! *Edit* - Wait, it appears that Amazon only has them in low-definition, and I won't use iTunes cause I hate Apple. Checking on Zune now...
  4. Is the whole game letterboxed like that?
  5. If Hulu Plus carried CBS and the Discovery Channel (I need my Mythbusters) I would seriously just straight-up cancel my cable TV subscription.

    Apple

That attitude among Apple users is part of what turns me off to Apple products in general, not just iPhone.
  7. Ah yeah, after reading the update everything makes more sense now.
  8. I thought the Classic Sonic levels in Sonic Generations were really good, but I'm not sure if they qualify as "retro" or not.
  9. I originally bought Darksiders on 360, but then I bought the PC version (probably during that same Steam sale) and haven't played it yet, I'm waiting until closer to Darksiders 2. Is it really that bad on the PC?
  10. Civilization V is free to play on Steam until 1 PM PST on Sunday, and it's 75% off until Monday. http://store.steampowered.com/app/8930/ If you don't have it, you should get it.
  11. Except if you limit your arguments to a method that yields a number that's patently ridiculous like that then basically the judge's only alternative is to go with the defendant's reasoning, which is not what you want to happen. At most it seems to me like something you'd use as a throwaway argument to make your real argument look more reasonable.
  12. IIRC it just seemed boring and pointless, which I guess makes sense for a book about how pointless their lives were. And before you say I just didn't like it because I was an uncultured teenager or whatever, I liked plenty of the other stuff we read in there. Just that one specifically grated on me.
  13. This weekend is Memorial Day weekend. Most people get Monday off work.
  14. I just read up on that and it's interesting to me because, based on their personalities in the movies at least, I would have pegged Captain America and Iron Man as being on the opposite sites to what that story has them on.
  15. I'm just pointing out that America does not have one idealogy anymore. We did at one point, but definitely not these days. I know, that's why I said "in some ways." I suppose it would have been more accurate to say "Though ideologically quite different from Captain America, Iron Man also embodies what some perceive to be American values." The reason I connected Captain America to the "America, fuck yeah" attitude is not because that's his attitude but because he is supposed to be all that is great and wonderful about America made flesh, and therefore is a product of that type of attitude.
  16. Right, I left out the middle of that thought, which was "Iron man represents the ideology of America in some ways more than Captain America."
  17. Iron Man is like the embodiment of capitalism and the "America, Fuck Yeah" attitude, in some ways even more than Captain America. I can't imagine that there will be any product placement of ideologies outside of that.
  18. Why in the world would you name your browser "Axis"? Next they're going to make a mail client named "Fuhrer". *Edit* - Even the branding looks evil.
  19. I actually find mentioning product names (not like that Bones thing, that's ridiculous) less jarring than when they talk about the object but don't mention the name. *kid playing PSP* "Oh, is that the new online shooter?"
  20. Better curriculum means better employees.
  21. That ad had gay people in it! I've never seen a tourism ad for the US generally (which makes sense that they wouldn't advertise internally) but I have seen similar ads for other states and countries. *Edit* - Yeah, it seems like having the people buy their own food and giving them money to cover the increased cost would make more sense.
