  1. Amazon's Gold Box has video game deals all day. The deal of the day is Prototype 2 on 360 or PS3 for $30.
  2. Too short, and the puzzles never really got hard enough, but the core design is quite good. They just didn't take it far enough.
  3. I do see this point too. In college in one of my classes we had a presentation about diversity, and at one point they seriously had us get into groups and come up with as many racial/ethnic/whatever slurs as we could. I don't have any idea what they thought that would do besides reinforce prejudices.
  4. It was letting me quicksave on that level. But then again, it was also checkpointing me, so idk. *Edit* - I remember now, it wasn't checkpointing me, I had quicksaved right before that part and so when I died it was automatically reloading the most recent quicksave.
  5. Originally in the US we could do it on the website, then they took away that functionality and made it so we have to call. I wonder if they changed it back for us too.
  6. When I did it a couple weeks ago it gave me a checkpoint right before that part.
  7. From that BBC article: I understand why it offended people, but this is a retarded outlook as well. It makes me think of after September 11 how whenever someone suggested that we might want to understand why Al Qaeda hates us so much they were branded as an apologist and anti-American. This idea that attempting to understand someones motivations is the same as justifying their behavior is what's bizarre to me. People, even bad people, have reasons for their behavior. Even if those reasons are irrational or based on false beliefs they still have them. People aren't cartoon villains who just want to do things for the sake of being evil.
  8. Maybe it's an English vs. English thing, but in my experience "storewide" is synonymous with "everything in the store", with the occasional exception of things that were already on sale. *Edit* - I guess I've seen generalized stuff like "Storewide deals" just mean deals scattered throughout the store, but when it's specific like "50% off storewide" I've always seen that to mean all items.
  9. Or use Netflix? I actually went ahead and signed up for Amazon Prime, and we're going to cancel our cable.
  10. I haven't seen MiB3 so I don't know about that movie specifically, but I'm happy as long as the time travel in a movie is internally consistent. I mean, it's not like we know how time travel would work IRL...
  11. Yeah, so I went through looked at what we watch regularly, and we don't watch our cable anywhere close to enough to justify the cost. I can get all the shows we watch regularly through one online service or another, and Netflix can easily cover the "watching something cause I'm bored and want to watch something" scenario.
  12. Yeah, I remember the framerate being fairly inconsistent on the 360 as well. On the AA front, I freaking love that Nvidia built FXAA into their drivers, so I can antialias almost any game now, even if it's coded in such a way that traditional driver-forced antialiasing doesn't work (like lots of Unreal Engine games).
  13. Quick trip into photoshop with a screenshot from that video shows that the resolution of the game without the black bars is about 1280x600.
  14. Got another misleading e-mail advertisement, though not nearly as bad as the first. Someone needs to let EA know that "storewide" means "everything in the store", and fine print doesn't change that. At least this time all the franchises specifically shown off in the e-mail actually are on sale, so it's a step up in that regard.
  15. I wouldn't say I'm immune to the Skinner Box effect, but I seem to become frustrated with it quicker than most people.
  16. yeah, I always thought it meant paraffin wax too.
  17. Letterboxing doesn't bother me, it just struck me as odd and I was wondering if it was actually the game or if it was something about the capture/upload process.
  18. Yeah, it's probably cheaper to just buy the season passes for Mythbusters. I didn't even know that was a thing! *Edit* - Wait, it appears that Amazon only has them in low-definition, and I won't use iTunes cause I hate Apple. Checking on Zune now...
  19. Is the whole game letterboxed like that?
  20. If Hulu Plus carried CBS and the Discovery Channel (I need my Mythbusters) I would seriously just straight-up cancel my cable TV subscription.

    Apple

That attitude among Apple users is part of what turns me off to Apple products in general, not just iPhone.
  22. Ah yeah, after reading the update everything makes more sense now.
  23. I thought the Classic Sonic levels in Sonic Generations were really good, but I'm not sure if they qualify as "retro" or not.
