  1. No, in ME1 you purchased a license which allowed the RO to stock that company's products, but he only stocked so many things at a time so whatever he happened to have on him at the time was random. It gave him the chance to carry that stuff, but he didn't carry it all all the time. It made it incredibly frustrating when you had millions of credits and wanted a specific piece of equipment but he may or may not have it. The only thing he always had was the Spectre Master Gear. Also, bad news Hottie: GAME isn't stocking ME3 or any future EA titles.
  2. Jim Carrey is really hit or miss with me. Sometimes I think he's hilarious and other times I find him grating, depending on the specific movie.
  3. Really interesting. I told my wife about it, and we're gonna give the Machete Order a shot this weekend.
  4. I haven't watched it yet, but tell me, does the RO allow me to purchase anything from anywhere and have it delivered, or has Amazon still not made it onto the Extranet?
  5. And for that reason Phil is my least favorite character on the show. As far as the British version of The Office, I've never seen it, but from what I've heard the first season of the US The Office was basically the exact same script as the British one, and I didn't like the show that season.
  6. That's less excusable than Romney's because she wasn't talking about something she vaguely remembered from being a small child, so she doesn't have the "kids are retarded" excuse.
  7. Sometimes very small text or very thin (1-pixel) lines in the interface look weird, but otherwise it doesn't bother me. The only real negative about it is that it lowers the resolution, so I'm looking at 2 1080i pictures instead of 1080p ones. I think the smaller, lighter glasses and the fact that they don't need batteries makes up for it though. Basically I will avoid batteries in anything if at all possible.
  8. Can someone explain to me what exactly pantomime is? Wikipedia wasn't very enlightening. I like witty banter, but hate gross-out humor. I also hate "uncomfortable" humor, like Michael in the American version of The Office or basically any movie with Ben Stiller in it. It's not funny to me if I'm embarrassed for the character, it's just unpleasant, like real embarrassment. I also like slapstick if done well, but very frequently it's not. I can't put my finger on what it is about Modern Family exactly, but that's probably my favorite type of comedy (ignoring the liberally biased setting and characters, just looking at the comedy style). I also really like dry verbal humor, like the old Jeeves and Wooster TV show with Hugh Laurie, or Rosencrantz and Gildenstern are Dead, though I have to be in the right mood for that.
  9. I honestly think the thing I'm most looking forward to in next-gen consoles is faster BD drives to improve load times.

Increased memory also allows for fewer load times. I have 18GB of RAM on my computer though and BF3 still takes FOREVER to load.

I think most people aren't aware that the PS3 BR drive is 1X or 2X read speed which is pretty slow to be honest for games that run off of the disc (They should've given an install option for uncharted) and you can expect the next Sony console to have something much faster. It's the whole issue of seek times 1X BRD speed is higher than 8X DVD speed if memory serves me right. However a BR has more data so for games with heavy res and textures it'll be slow loading but for games...

Load times don't bother me...(because I'm gaming on a PC with a fast SSD. Muhahahaha...)

  10. My 3DTV's passive, I wonder if that has something to do with the difference. I played all of SotC and Ico in 3D though and it was great, and I also played what little bit of Splinter Cell HD I played before sending it back in 3D, and thought it was good too. Though since those were ported PS2 games they had a lot of AA so jaggies weren't an issue, I'll be interested to see how Uncharted 3 as a native PS3 game does. I did play the demos to MotorStorm and Killzone 3 in 3D though and they weren't bad. I do think Halo Anniversary was the best-looking current-gen (not port) game I've played in 3D though. I tried the Sonic Generations demo on 360 in 3D but it dropped frames like crazy. And I think that covers every game I've played in 3D. I don't have a 3D monitor and I don't want to lug my desktop into the living room so I don't play PC games in 3D.
  11. While I agree the lack of anti-aliasing is a problem, in my experience two separately aliased images together looks smoother than one single image with the same amount of aliasing, like my brain averages together the two images. Though because it does the 3D at a lower resolution it's more aliased than in 2D, and the smoothing effect isn't enough to make up for that.
  12. I didn't realize it was 3D, so that's a little exciting.
  13. Who wants a banger in the mouth?
  14. My grandmother took care of me, my siblings, and my cousins.
  15. I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he honestly believed he remembers it. It's really easy for kids to incorporate stories they've heard into their memories and later think they really happened.
  16. I've got enough characters importing from ME2 that I can actually play one playthrough as every class. *Edit* - I probably won't though, the only ones I've really liked so far are Soldier and Adept. Biotic charge as a Vanguard was a lot of fun, but I got sick of dying all the time... though in single player I could just play on an easy difficulty I guess.
  17. Get Stasis Field for the Asari Adept once you get leveled up. It is the best thing ever. Ridiculously over powered. It works on all enemies, even if they have shields or barriers up, which means Phantoms are no longer a threat at all. The only enemies it doesn't work on are the Atlases.
  18. So after playing Uncharted 1 I was like "that was fun, but far from the best thing ever." After playing the first 1/4 or so of 2 I now see what all the fuss is about.

  19. My parents had a housekeeper, but it wasn't what you might think, she came for like 3 hours once a month.
  20. Can someone explain to me the difference between a twin stick shooter and a shmup? Is it just that in a twin-stick shooter you're not always facing "foward" and the levels don't tend to be side-scrollers?

Okay, that's what I thought, just wanted to be sure. Thanks.

My wife prefers to call twin-stick shooters circle-shooters and she does have a point since it is primarily a 360 degree shooter.

  21. I'd guess it's probably a combination. Though I think a big factor is that the previous generation felt like they had to fight against the expectation that they had to be SAHMs, and that if they did stay at home they were giving in to discrimination. I think our generation, on the other hand, doesn't so much feel like women are expected to stay at home, so if they choose to do so they don't have that stigma of giving in. I don't think it's all the way gone, but it will be in another generation.
  22. Yeah, child care is the biggest thing. My wife actually wants to go back to work at least part time once all our kids are old enough to be in all-day school (though that's way off in the future, since we aren't planning to have kids for at least a couple more years).
  23. My wife's almost as flaming liberal as me and she wants to do the exact same thing. So see, we're not so different. *Edit* - It was a bad thing when a married woman basically wasn't allowed to work outside the home, but women also shouldn't feel obligated to do so now that they can. Also, why do you say you don't have that option? I know a couple people who are or are planning to be stay at home dads while their wife works. One of them I went to law school with (though I'll admit that particular example does seem like a colossal waste of money).
  24. lol, he said he had to turn it on, meaning it was off by default. That's how it is in Uncharted 2.
  25. I think you guys were thinking of Uncharted 2 rather than Uncharted 1, cause in 2 motion control is disabled by default and you have to turn it on if you want it.
