  1. I hadn't heard it before. Sounds interesting.
  2. I don't see Ocarina of Time being the greatest game ever either. It's a really good game, and I still play my GameCube copy from time to time, but it's not the best game ever. I think the appeal for me is just nostalgia combined with the fact that it is a solid game. *Edit* - Back to Uncharted, of the three this was my favorite. Part of that though was that by this point in the series I was used to them starting to rely on goddamn stupid bullet sponges late in the game, so I was less reluctant to turn down the difficulty when it got unfun, thus saving myself from frustration and improving my impression of the game. Oddly, playing through this series has made me both more and less excited for The Last of Us; more because I see that Naughty Dog really can craft a very compelling game, and less because I worry that they'll fall back into the same combat patterns as this. Combat was not Uncharted's strength, though it did improve throughout the series.
  3. Oh okay, you were talking about larger design rather than moment-to-moment gameplay. In that case, I agree with you wholeheartedly.
  4. It's kind of hypnotic to switch back and forth between the first and 3rd ones, watching Shep change shape...
  5. lmao, I was just thinking about that the other day and how I finally understand why Cartman resorted to freezing himself.
  6. See, I agree with you up until the gameplay part. I will be extremely disappointed if there are any significant changes to the gameplay. Tweaks and stuff are fine, but nothing that changes the "feel" of it. *Edit* - Though I will say that I was disappointed with the lack of side quests in Revelations. So far Brotherhood has been my favorite of the series.
  7. lol @ that top picture. That Redcoat's like "There's something slightly suspicious about this man..."
  8. If I were going to pick a religion solely on the appeal of its ideas, I would probably pick something animistic. Or more accurately, I would probably make up my own and borrow a lot of animistic ideas, and probably some reincarnation too. But, like I've said before, belief is an involuntary act, not something that you can choose to do just because it's appealing.
  9. You realize there are gay guys in the military, right? And that they kick equal amounts of ass as the straight ones? After that I expect to hear that women are competent in battle. They certainly can be, though I'll concede it wouldn't surprise me if on average they are less suited to it than men. Problem is that to my knowledge no one has ever done any research into it. Exactly. See, that's a perfectly valid point. Why couldn't you just have said that instead of acting like a prejudiced jerk?
  10. That's badass that your overall bar unlocks both Paragon *and* Renegade options, rather than each score unlocking options separately. It will make my "do whatever the hell I feel like" schizo-shep more effective in conversations. It also seems slightly unrealistic, though. Like why would someone believe that a Shepard with a bar maxed out with Paragon points would carry out his threat to burn down an orphanage to stop them? Seems like the option should be there, but depending on your rep they should be like "Hah! You're way too much of a goodie-two-shoes to do that!"

  12. Joystiq says it was "officially revealed", not leaked. If it had been up to me I probably would have picked French Resistance during WWII, but that might have seemed too much like the Saboteur.
  13. I'm taking Tuesday afternoon off, starting whenever the UPS guy delivers my copy to my office.
  14. Native Americans fought for both sides during the American Revolution, though you're right in that most favored the British.
  15. Well, I have a new least favorite person on here. Congrats.
  16. Yeah I'm unsure if I covered this before: If the developer is able to identify "that one terrible part" of the game, why are folks suggesting that they add in the ability to skip over that instead of....fixing it. "So in our QA testing we found there's a part of the game that's really awkward to do. Takes at least 15 tries, and for most of our QA guys it's by fluke they complete it. How about we just leave it awkward and spend the dev time on making a 'skip point'!". Does this not strike anyone else as silly? I'm not saying they should identify that one terrible part and allow you to skip that part, I'm saying they should let you skip any given combat encounter so that the player can use that feature to get past that one terrible part, which isn't necessarily the same part for everyone. It doesn't even have to be something you can just automatically do, I'd be fine with it being an option after failing 5 times or whatever.
  17. @HH: I can't imagine they'll take away your unlocks when you prestige.
  18. Jesus Christ the combat got stupid in the last couple chapters. Throughout the whole game I was like "hey, they learned from their mistakes in Uncharted 1, this combat is actually fun" but it's like they were waiting till to jump out and yell "fooled you!" I got sick of it and ended up turning it to Very Easy for the last chapter.
  19. Well my main point is that it should be there not for people to skip through every bit of combat, but so people who are otherwise enjoying the game can skip that one terrible part.
  20. HotHeart, you weren't kidding when you said Uncharted 2 has an emphasis on bullet sponges toward the end.

I love how you shoot the dude on the train about 100 times and then he dies in the cut scene from one shot with a pistol.

    3. WTF

      WTF

grenade launchers and rocket launchers and of course grenades. I dunno, personally it was fun to finish that game on crushing. UC3 is faaar too easy.

To each his own. I like challenge, but it has to be the "right" kind of challenge for me. Bullet sponges are not the right kind.

  21. Takes me back to the old days. Us against the unknown, killing it with big guns.
  22. The favored response to someone disagreeing with you about something subjective (like how good a movie or something is) among my group of friends in high school was "Are you a communist?"
  23. Clear a quarian's name from a pickpocket charge: war asset.
  24. They said that ship upgrades from ME2 will carry over and have some effect on the game too (don't know if it affects the ending). I wonder what that might be.
