  1. I know that one definition of "catholic" is "universal" or "all-encompassing". My family's Episcopalian and in their services they always say "we believe in one holy catholic and Apostolic Church" which confused the hell out of me until I asked and my grandpa (a Deacon in the church) explained that it means that they consider all Christians to be part of one universal church, and that's what "catholic" means in that context. I like the Episcopalians, they're very accepting.
  2. Oh, sorry, I read your intent backward, I thought you were saying that gamers in the know think Revelations was meh and so will be more cautious about 3, whereas the unwashed masses will probably just buy it because it's a new AC. My mistake.
  3. I don't think so. I did it once right when I first got my 3DTV in order to try out some games on it, but that's about it. I game on a monitor, and I think most others do as well. Hell, I even have my 360 hooked to a monitor rather than the TV, so I don't have to fight with the wife about TV usage.
  4. Revelations was meh, but the fact that this is developed by an entirely different studio and has been in dev since 2 finished gives me greater confidence.
  5. Yes, but he's not going to be President forever.
  6. Yeah, unless it's coop multiplayer I couldn't care less.
  7. My problem with the concave/convex thing isn't that my thumbs slip on the DS3, it's that if I am using it constantly (like running in Assassin's Creed) and changing directions on it my thumb will walk itself across the stick until it's just barely on the edge, then I have to let go and reposition my thumb over the middle. That never happens on the 360 controller.
  8. I knew about "Mad" King George III. I did not know he pooped purple. We also tend to know about King Richard the Lionheart because of Robin Hood. *Edit* - I can also infer the existence of King Georges I and II.
  9. I have to wait till FedEx arrives at my office. Assuming they get there at the same time as normal, I've got about 6-7 hours left.
  10. Be that as it may, I cannot in good conscience vote for someone who signed that legislation. I just won't be voting for President at all this time around. Not that it makes any difference, Kansas was always going to go Republican anyway.
  11. Me too. And I'll say you should be happy with the results. I'm tempted to call you a liar and say you just applied a photoshop filter to screenshots.
  12. Yeah, the series isn't over, just this arc.
  13. I just turn up the sensitivity. I should say though, my main issue with the DS3's sticks is not the tension, it's the deadzone, I could learn to live with lower tension. As for the concave/convex thing (which is an aspect I had completely forgotten about), I've never played a game where convex was superior. For games where your thumbs aren't constantly on the sticks then either one works equally well, and like you say for games where your thumbs are always on the sticks concave is better.
  14. Maybe you don't know he's a Templar, and it's a big twist for people who haven't done all the subject 16 stuff?
  15. D-pad is definitely better on the DS3, no denying that.
  16. RDR is the most awesome game ever. Anything that makes a game more like RDR is good in my book.
  17. How is the DS3 any better for racers and RPG's than the 360 controller?
  18. It hurts my hands to hold that thing sideways for more than about half an hour at a stretch. I enjoy the game, but I just cannot play it with that thing. I shouldn't call the controller shitty, it works great for some things. I really liked Skyward Sword, and I liked Twilight Princess better on the Wii than the Gamecube (because the pointer made aiming so much easier). What's shitty is how they feel the need to shoehorn in motion to every goddamn title, regardless of whether or not it adds anything. Motion control added nothing to NSMBWii, there is no reason that they couldn't have made that game compatible with the Classic Controller or Gamecube controller.
  19. I think it's fine for TPS. Anyways, I don't feel like using a 360 controller magically makes someone more precise. Also, what other genres are you thinking of? I like the sticks on PS3 because they work well with more genres, whereas the 360 sticks are much more focused on FPS's. You're right, it doesn't automatically make people more precise, but the higher tension and smaller deadzone make it easier to be precise. As far as other genres, I guess what I was thinking of you could broadly call "platformers"; any game that requires either precise movement or precise camera control. Which yeah, largely tend to be platformers and shooters (both TPS and FPS). It's just personal preference though. I'm serious when I say that I don't understand how people can use the DS3 for that stuff, but obviously they can so whatever.
  20. The only other game on the Wii that I am even remotely interested in is Monster Hunter Tri. Part of it is that there are some games I would have liked except for their shitty controller (NSMBWii, for example).
  21. It's still entirely possible that you aren't really on either side, and they're just playing up the American Revolution angle in the advertising. But I agree, it would be a lot more interesting to have you not really be on either side.
  22. /debates trip to Wichita this afternoon... *Edit* - Nah, I won't get it. It's just such a PITA for me cause the nearest Best Buy is 50 miles away. As is the nearest Gamestop.
  23. The Steelbook promo doesn't apply to the PC version of AC3? Screw you too, Ubisoft.

Yeah, that's how I found out it didn't apply to PC preorders.

I actually preordered the PS3 version on Amazon, with the thought that I can always cancel it later. This way I have it for if they announce PC version for 18 months later.

Though for some reason Amazon isn't letting you select release date delivery.

    4. Yantelope V2

      Yantelope V2

they usually don't offer that until a month or two before actual release. If you're prime they auto upgrade you.

  24. lol, "because it's Nintendo" is the reason I'm not buying it at launch. I'll get one eventually, but for the same two reasons I got a Wii: Mario and Zelda.
  25. Well they're already confirmed to be working on their Steam Big Screen or whatever it is they call it.
