So I looked it up, and when I said "barbecue" apparently I was unknowingly referring to Kansas City-style barbecue specifically. Being from Kansas, it makes sense that that's what I would think of.

I've heard "beeta" (mostly from British people on TV), but everyone around here says "bayta". Never heard anyone say "beater". As for "melee", in America the correct pronunciation is definitely "maylay", though they spell it "mey-ley". It's interesting to me how many words are pronounced differently in the US and UK, even beyond what you would normally think of as being an accent thing. For example methane is pronounced "mee-thane" in the UK and "meh-thane" in the US.

"Disappointed" because one hoped for better, "not surprised" because one did not expect better.

"Disappointed but not surprised" would I think be a good description. Or would be for, but I haven't encountered any real bugs (but I only have about 21 hours in the game, so...)

Without going back and looking, IIRC CS was mentioned in that thread as a counter-example to the RPG-ification of things like Call of Duty's online. It was basically "if you're going to have weapon unlocks and stuff, counter-strike did it right", not saying that CS is to RPG-ified. Again, that's without going back and looking though, and my memory could very well be lying to me.

Have to hit $25 here still, unless you're on Amazon Prime then you can get free 2-day shipping on everything. One possible reason might be that the UK is so much smaller than the US that it probably doesn't cost as much to ship things across the country. That's just me speculating though.

As a general principal reduction in overhead should -> reduction in sales price. That said, I don't know exactly how much less overhead there is in DD games as compared to retail, so I don't know if that reduction in price would actually matter (if it is only like $1/game then I agree it's silly to expect the price to come down).
