  1. So yesterday I learned that if you stand like 20 feet back from the TV Skyward Sword looks REALLY pretty.

Sorry, plenty of Wii games have great art design, but the jaggies hurt me.

  2. That actually does a really good job of showing off the lighting engine...
  3. Didn't you know, FLD? We're slowly purging all mention of you from the forum. By tomorrow this conversation will never have happened.
  4. I see shmups as being like BDSM: some people are into that kind of thing, but why?
  5. I just looked up the Wikipedia page on Otomedius Excellent, and I still have no concept of what kind of a game it is (doesn't help that the "Gameplay" section reads like an advertisement). Enlighten me?
  6. $70 total on Newegg. Figured I could upgrade to 16GB of RAM.
  7. I'm a light armor battle-mage. Member of both the Companions and the College. Sword in the right hand and fire spell in the left. I'm terribly squishy.
  8. All this talk of over-enchanted equipment makes reminds me of Oblivion, and how I quit playing after my 125% invisibility armor set made the game super boring. I'd just sit there hacking on dudes and they'd be like "what was that?" and continue standing there like idiots.
  9. Works in US, though the Missing Link DLC doesn't get the discount.
  10. @FLD: I think it's a Battle Chest-style 3-game pack.
  11. Meh. While I acknowledge intellectually that it's a bad thing, it doesn't actually bother me for some reason. People like me are why it works.
  12. I have never once received a game before its official release date. I feel left out. Also, I know we've been over this, but WHY THE SUNDAY US RELEASE?! Sunday is like the absolute worst day you could pick. It's like "we could have let you have this all weekend, but didn't cause we're dicks." Especially since I don't have a retailer in town that reliably gets games on release day, so I have to order it online, and no one delivers on Sunday so I won't get it until Tuesday.
  13. I'm guessing the bonus squadmate will also release as DLC for people who don't get the special edition.
  14. I agree wholeheartedly with that video.
  15. The 1 cent American coin is called a penny.
  16. Yeah, Americans use the phrase "penny-pincher" too. Though it's the kind of thing that older people would tend to say.
  17. So, I haven't gotten around to playing JP yet, what with Skyrim and Halo: Anniversary, and Skyward Sword next week, but based on what I'm hearing I may be glad I went with this instead of just buying the game. Sounds like it's pretty terrible. Even though I spent more, at least this way I have SOMETHING to show for it.
  18. At the risk of seemingly contradicting what I just said, I frequently buy games at launch and almost never regret it. I'm just very careful about which ones I get at launch and if I'm not absolutely sure I'm going to love it I wait.
  19. I do that with lots of PC games, but a lot of that is because with several major yearly Steam sales I can usually count on ridiculous discounts within a couple months of launch.
  20. I'm in a weird middle zone here: I almost never pirate anything (I think the last thing I pirated was an episode of a TV show that the local affiliate fucked up on broadcasting so I couldn't see a huge chunk of it on TV), but I also don't think it's wrong to pirate something unless you're causing some tangible harm to someone by doing so. I've already explained my philosophy at length though, and won't do so again here. What I wanted to say was that any posts I downvoted I did so because of the attitude of the post rather than the viewpoint. Some of the posts in this thread equating one viewpoint to being adult and the other being childish, and similar things, are very condescending. People may disagree on the morals of something, but morality isn't objectively verifiable; neither side is "right" and neither side is "wrong." You may think it's part of being an adult to recognize you can't have everything you want, but others would argue that that is a concept that is outdated when applied to infinitely reproducible digital goods. Neither viewpoint is wrong, they're just different. Calling someone childish because they don't hold exactly the same moral beliefs as you is not doing anything to advance the conversation.
  21. I thought Dolphin could use a mouse to emulate the Wiimote. Can it not do Motion Plus? *Edit* - Did a little research: no it cannot emulate Wii Motion Plus.
  22. One of my IRL friends bought it Tuesday just by random chance. He didn't even know that was release day, he just happened to see it on the shelf.
