  1. @FLD: I think it's a Battle Chest-style 3-game pack.
  2. Meh. While I acknowledge intellectually that it's a bad thing, it doesn't actually bother me for some reason. People like me are why it works.
  3. I have never once received a game before its official release date. I feel left out. Also, I know we've been over this, but WHY THE SUNDAY US RELEASE?! Sunday is like the absolute worst day you could pick. It's like "we could have let you have this all weekend, but didn't cause we're dicks." Especially since I don't have a retailer in town that reliably gets games on release day, so I have to order it online, and no one delivers on Sunday so I won't get it until Tuesday.
  4. I'm guessing the bonus squadmate will also release as DLC for people who don't get the special edition.
  5. I agree wholeheartedly with that video.
  6. The 1 cent American coin is called a penny.
  7. Yeah, Americans use the phrase "penny-pincher" too. Though it's the kind of thing that older people would tend to say.
  8. So, I haven't gotten around to playing JP yet, what with Skyrim and Halo: Anniversary, and Skyward Sword next week, but based on what I'm hearing I may be glad I went with this instead of just buying the game. Sounds like it's pretty terrible. Even though I spent more, at least this way I have SOMETHING to show for it.
  9. At the risk of seemingly contradicting what I just said, I frequently buy games at launch and almost never regret it. I'm just very careful about which ones I get at launch and if I'm not absolutely sure I'm going to love it I wait.
  10. I do that with lots of PC games, but a lot of that is because with several major yearly Steam sales I can usually count on ridiculous discounts within a couple months of launch.
  11. I'm in a weird middle zone here: I almost never pirate anything (I think the last thing I pirated was an episode of a TV show that the local affiliate fucked up on broadcasting so I couldn't see a huge chunk of it on TV), but I also don't think it's wrong to pirate something unless you're causing some tangible harm to someone by doing so. I've already explained my philosophy at length though, and won't do so again here. What I wanted to say was that any posts I downvoted I did so because of the attitude of the post rather than the viewpoint. Some of the posts in this thread equating one viewpoint to being adult and the other being childish, and similar things, are very condescending. People may disagree on the morals of something, but morality isn't objectively verifiable; neither side is "right" and neither side is "wrong." You may think it's part of being an adult to recognize you can't have everything you want, but others would argue that that is a concept that is outdated when applied to infinitely reproducible digital goods. Neither viewpoint is wrong, they're just different. Calling someone childish because they don't hold exactly the same moral beliefs as you is not doing anything to advance the conversation.
  12. I thought Dolphin could use a mouse to emulate the Wiimote. Can it not do Motion Plus? *Edit* - Did a little research: no it cannot emulate Wii Motion Plus.
  13. One of my IRL friends bought it Tuesday just by random chance. He didn't even know that was release day, he just happened to see it on the shelf.
  14. Sure it looks pretty in stills, but how does it play in practice? I've had nothing but trouble trying to get Dolphin to work.
  15. I could be wrong, FLD, but IIRC AC3 has been in development for a couple years already, and it's been a separate team working on ACB and ACR. I'm not really sure about that though, that's just what I vaguely recall.
  16. I just like that style because it's fun to watch. It gives me something interesting to stare at while listening to what would otherwise be audio only.
  17. They've confirmed next year's release is AC3. The whole series revolves around the end of the world in December 2012, and they've said (logically) that they need the game to release before then.
  18. Huh, I actually expected you to go the other way on that.
  19. I think some of its problems are a porting issue. For instance, in the skill menu, you have to move between skill trees one at a time. That makes sense on a controller because you'll be navigating with a stick or d-pad and you'll hit the direction you want to move. On PC however, I should be able to click on the tree four spaces down and go directly to it, without having to move over one tree at a time. What you said about form over function definitely applies though. That skill menu is pretty, but it's a bitch to use.
  20. Has anyone tried Live coop? How did it work? My friend and I tried it last night, and he said it was laggy as hell (I was the host), but we're not sure whether that's because the coop wasn't designed with the internet in mind or because my wife was streaming Netflix at the time.
  21. Thursday, hypothetical for you: Person preorders Game, which comes out on Friday, planning to play it all weekend. Carrier fucks up the delivery, so Person won't receive it until Monday. Is it wrong for Person to pirate Game to be able to play it over the weekend? Remember, Person has purchased Game, and it has been released so they're not pirating it before release date, just due to Carrier's mistake Person doesn't yet have possession of it. I'm interested to see what you think of that scenario.
  22. I think there's plenty there. The interface is absolutely terrible though, and needs a major overhaul. Hopefully some modders can take care of that for us.
