So I understand why you have some of those, but why like the crying one and the facewall one?
-
Yeah, you're supposed to use the coupon code for whatever game you want. As for whether your pre-order was cancelled or not, I would see if you can check your Telltale account to see if the order is still active.

I SO hope that was an accident.

Last Friday's Penny Arcade: -
lol, Demonoid gave DP a 10/10?

It's not just you, it looks WAY better. And if you got it through Gamefly that means you're not even on PC with antialiasing and stuff, where it's seriously the first game I've seen that is capable of looking as good as the pre-rendered-but-in-engine video they often use for "gameplay" trailers. As for how they made it look so much better, I'm not sure. I know Left 4 Dead 2 looks a whole hell of a lot better than L4D1 did though, so I think they've been continuing to tweak the Source engine.

Yeah, Protheans are definitely not humanity's ancestors. Hell, EDI did a freaking genetic analysis of the Protheans in ME2, and it seems like she might have noticed the similarities to humans. Not to mention the fact that we KNOW that the Protheans had a base on Mars 50k years ago, at which point humans already existed on Earth, and it's heavily hinted that the Protheans were observing/studying the human population. Like Dean said, there are retcons, and then there's shitting all over the whole franchise. *Edit* - Also it's well established in ME2 that the Protheans were basically giant bugs. Humans don't have a lot in common with giant bugs. I'm suddenly imagining a storyline where the Protheans that fled to the Sol system encased the Charon relay in ice as a means to escape the Reapers. I could maybe see them working in some human/prothean link like that, too. I could totally see there being some kind of a connection between humans and the Protheans, something that makes humans "special", but I really really doubt they're genetically related to us in any major way (perhaps some gene-modification of us by them, but that would be it).

There's also the fix that I mentioned.

I bought Warband back in like September on my friends' recommendation (he thought the political sim was especially cool) but I haven't actually played it yet.
-
That would be useful information if Steam allowed you any control over your updates... *Edit* - That link has a fix for the PC version. The problem is the update makes it so that it loads the main game file after the DLC files, but you can reorder it to load the main game file first by using something like Fallout Mod Manager.

But hottie, you know as gamers we must complain any time the devs decide to add an option to play a different way than we like. Who cares that it's not mandatory? The fact that it's there means I HAVE to use it, and I hate it! /sarcasm *Edit* - Not mocking the people in this thread, who are not being crazy, I'm mocking people in the larger "gaming community" who are completely insane.

So Portal 2 DLC is supposedly coming this summer. Translated from Valvespeak to English that yields us an actual release date of some time in 2015.

I think people make a bigger deal of the Sony v. MS thing than is really justified. Both companies are much more than console producers. Hell, I remember not too long ago MS was using Sony Viao laptops in its Windows 7 commercials. Even if MS ends up not using bluray in the 720 I really doubt it will have much if anything to do with the fact that Sony has a stake in bluray.

Ah, I didn't get the reference because I was COMPLETELY unfamiliar with the thing being referenced. -
When Liara says that "azure" is "a slang term for a part of the Asari body" "in the lower reaches, near the bottom", what part of the Asari body EXACTLY is she referring to?
-
I am so flipping excited it's not even funny.

Wait, whatnow? -
Oh, yeah, sorry. I probably could have made that clearer.

Also, though, think about this: you point out that Steam is DD only, but the games on it (the AAA titles, anyway) are also available at retail. Hell, Valve owns steam and they still release their own games on discs, as is proved by the retail, disc-based copy of Portal 2 PC I have on my desk at home. Valve owns the biggest DD network in existence, and even they still release their games on discs.
-
Yep, most games are terrible. 90% of everything is shit. Saying it's not as bad as other games doesn't make a boring game less boring though. Obviously me thinking it's boring is just a matter of opinion though, which you're free to disagree with. And like I said, the atmosphere was great. I wanted to like it so much, but like Bioshock I couldn't force myself to be subjected to the bad gameplay for the awesome setting.
-
I probably wouldn't, I'd stick to PC. Even on PC I prefer to buy physical discs rather than DD, unless there's a large price difference between the two. I think DD will be much bigger than it is this gen, but I don't think it will be the sole delivery method.

There's a time when if you have both Garrus and Tali in your party Garrus will say something like "You remember all those conversations we used to have during the long elevator rides? Good times." And like I said, I don't actually dislike the loadscreens themselves, I just find the execution jarring. Same with the Illusive Man end-of-mission screens. If they would just do something like have Shepard look at a nearby display or at his omni-tool, then zoom in on it and have whatever's on the display be the load screen, that would fix the issue. I thought the same thing about Portal 2 though, as compared to Portal. In Portal the screen would just freeze with a semi-transparent box in the middle that said "loading", then after a bit the game would resume right from there. In Portal 2, however, it actually goes to a separate loading screen, even though like the first one you always start at the exact point you left off. I prefer the Portal 1 method, it makes everything seem much more continuous.
-
I doubt 8th gen will go download-only. I do, however, think that it's likely that every single disc-based title will also be available for DD purchase, probably day and date with the disc-based release. If they're smart, they'll make the prices of the DD versions lower too, to incentivize (seriously Chrome, I promise that's a word) people buying the DD version, which has certain advantages as Yante laid out.

I know with layoffs if the company starts hiring again they're often contractually obligated to offer the positions to laid-off employees before they can start bringing in new people. Is it the same over there with people who have been "made redundant"?
-
That's not such a stupid question. Mass Effect 1 avoided loadscreens as much as possible, especially within the Normandy or on planets. A lot of people (myself included) didn't like the addition of loadscreens in ME2. Though personally I'm not opposed to the idea so much as the execution. I found the loadscreens in ME2 to be very jarring.
