  1. Doom always gave me a headache, but it didn't make me feel sick. The old Windows maze screensaver did the same thing.
  2. I usually like the default FOV (though there have been some exceptions), and turning it up makes it look like I'm viewing the game through a fish-eye lens.
  3. Anyways, I'm acting smug or superior? Besides that last post, I'm acting pretty indifferent. Your viewpoint is indifferent, the way you're expressing it is smug and superior. Your posts read like "I'm indifferent, and anyone who's not is wrong and stupid for caring."
  4. The thing about RDR and Jack is something I hadn't considered before (which makes me feel completely retarded because it seems really obvious now), but I agree it's sad.
  5. That's not what I wrote! You doctored that quote! <.< >.>
  6. If someone were that clueless I'd expect them to be more likely to hit the power button on the PC than to hit the Windows key.
  7. You get minused because of your smugly superior attitude, not necessarily the viewpoints you express.
  8. I've played every Total War game since the original Shogun, and I also tried the Shogun 2 demo. It's not for lack of trying, I just can't make myself play the battles.
  9. I didn't take it quite that literally, in my experience PC games that have that usually say "Press Enter to Continue" or "Press Any Key to Continue", and only say "Press Start to Continue" if you're using a 360 pad.
  10. I tried to sign the no oceans thing when you posted it, but it wouldn't let me make my e-mail address private.
  11. Console games shouldn't need that crap either.
  12. I love the Total War games but I simply don't have the patience for them, I end up letting the computer resolve all battles so the game I play is basically a combination of Civilization and Risk. I have both Civilization and Risk already. Note: This is not a criticism of the Total War series, but rather my play style.
  13. Yeah, apparently I'm not buying Deus Ex at all... It sucks, because if this sells poorly on PC due to them crapping up the PC version they'll just use that as justification in the future to not put it out on PC at all.
  14. No, my argument is that the War Powers Resolution is itself an unconstitutional act, and therefore any Presidential action pursuant to that Resolution is also unconstitutional. The UN resolution has the effect of making the military action legal under international law, but that has no bearing as to whether the US participating is legal under our own domestic law.
  15. The easy/cynical answer is that it's the big publishers who have all the lobbying power when it comes to this stuff.
  16. Best soundtrack: one of the Halos, can't decide for sure which one though. Maybe Halo 1.
  17. Alan Wake full game download code on Amazon for $10.49 ($5.00 + $5.49 S&H). http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004KODHKM/ref=s9_simh_gw_p63_d0_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0HBVG88SSSAEV4T6PB1X&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938631&pf_rd_i=507846
  18. Yeah, I read that importing the time like that would double up with any already-recorded time you had, so I decided not to do it.
  19. I wouldn't call it warmongering, but I would say that the statutory authorization for the President to use military force against other countries for 90 days (60 days of operation + 30 for withdrawal) without Congressional authorization specific to that conflict is probably unconstitutional. Under the constitution Congress has the sole authority to declare war and while it still retains the sole power to actually make the declaration, it has effectively delegated the power to start a war to the President. That delegation is in violation of separation of powers/checks and balances principles underlying the constitution. *Edit* - I'm not arguing that the attacks are in violation of international law, in that sense they're legal because they were authorized by the UN. I'm also not saying that Obama is "usurping Congress" as some have been saying, as there is general statutory authorization, passed by Congress, allowing the President to conduct military operations for 90 days before those operations require Congressional assent. I would just argue that that grant of power was unconstitutional.
  20. @WTF: Your entire post just goes to show that color is artistically useful, but in a world where color film was a physical impossibility (just assume for the sake of argument) people would still make films that are just as good. Pan's Labyrinth could still have been made in such a world, it would just have been constructed differently to achieve the effect using something other than color. Color is not absolutely, 100% necessary, in the sense that the lack of color would prevent the films from being made or from being just as well done.
  21. Honest question, what's the benefit to logging in to Steam with Raptr? Whenever I'm logged in to the Raptr client I'm also logged in to the Steam client itself, and Raptr seems to track my Steam achievements and stuff just fine without needing my login.
  22. I think of 3D in films just like color in films: sure it's not absolutely necessary, but it allows a more accurate representation of the real world, and will in time come to be the standard.
  23. I like Tali's character a lot for the most part, but I do not like how she acts when you're romancing her. In my Mass Effect Tali is more confident than that.
