  1. Should word filter it to "charcoal". Much more amusing.
  2. I have played Mass Effect all the way through like 9 times (on 360), and I have never seen any of these glitches.
  3. Okay, the original article I read wasn't very clear, it made it sound like there were no more subsidies at all. They are doing away with subsidized upgrades, but people who are enrolled by June of this year can still do the subsidized upgrade one more time, and you can still get subsidized with an entirely new account. Sorry Dean, I'm done with this subject now.
  4. Yeah I know. I was holding out on getting a smartphone until I actually needed one for work.
  5. Yeah, I was wondering about that too. I'm sure we'll get more info closer to launch though.
  6. From what I gather the company that made Metro 2033 was started by a couple of the software engineers from the company that made STALKER, so I doubt they had too much to do with the actual play mechanics, they were more code guys.
  7. Speaking of the cell phone thing, Verizon just announced that they're not giving phone subsidies with new contracts. Looks like I'll be switching carriers when I want to get my smart phone.
  8. The Wikipedia article on the dodo says that most reports were that the meat was tough and didn't taste particularly good (the sailors who went to the island preferred to eat pigeons over the dodo).
  9. I know I don't get the full $60 back It still saves me money as long as the PC version is more than $25, and it still saves the other buyer $5.
  10. Marked off Metro 2033. Like Bioshock, I fucking love the environment/atmosphere/etc, but I just can't put up with the crap shooting.
  11. Well I'm not planning on doing it any time soon. Probably won't do it ever.
  12. I want the PC version. All of my IRL friends will also want the PC version. No one I know will want the PS3 version. So look at it this way: I could either 1) buy the PC version straight up, or 2) buy the PS3 version, use the code, sell the PS3 disc back to Gamestop, someone else can buy the "used" PS3 version for less than the new version, Valve still gets all the money they normally would have gotten from a new PS3 version sale, and I have the PC version and someone else has the PS3 version, which is exactly what Valve intends to happen anyway, and is why they're doing the promotion. I really don't see how that's morally questionable.
  13. That probably deserves to go in the Games You Like that Everyone Else Hates thread.
  14. Well, I just started playing this again yesterday, and I finally got to a part where the shooting mechanic is exposed for the horrible mess that it is. It's sad, like Bioshock I really loved the atmosphere, but I can't put up with the shooting.
  15. So what you're saying is I should buy the PS3 version, use the PC code, and then sell the PS3 version, right?
  16. Well due to the way this hack works, it shouldn't take them nearly that long to release new custom firmwares, because the underlying security is broken. So instead of having to re-hack the firmware every time, they already have all the access codes. And Sony can't change the access codes cause they're built into the hardware of the PS3.
  17. Why is a dodo more interesting than a mammoth?
  18. So this probably isn't what Dean had in mind, but is certainly within the broad topic of the thread: Japanese scientists plan to resurrect a mammoth through cloning.
  19. I'll test right now. *Edit* - Yep, I created a new user profile, didn't sign up for PSN, and tried to launch Netflix. At first it appeared to launch normally, but after a couple seconds of trying to load it popped up a thing that said "You must sign up for Playstation Network."
  20. I tried AC1 and couldn't even finish the first major assassination cause I didn't like it. Then I tried it again about a year later and I freaking loved it. So I guess I'm in both categories on that one?
  21. Even though it's not a part of PSN I think you still have to have PSN access in order to use it.
  22. Conjunctions are typically considered a single word, so thing's like "it's" and "can't" should be fine. Here's my attempt: Burn cuts, gentle drift. Pinpoint stars.
