  1. There's a book? I watched the anime. I'm planning on giving Dead Space 1 a replay this weekend to remind myself wtf happened (and cause I impulse-bought it on a Steam sale and haven't played it on PC yet).
  2. Since it was in the jailbreak thread I figured we were talking about piracy. As for used games, it still doesn't kill that market completely. Again, it only kills the online-play market, but for a lot of games that doesn't really matter.
  3. Because it doesn't stop piracy. AT MOST it will stop online pirated play. But you can still pirate as long as you don't let the PS3 connect to the net, cause then there's no way for it to check the key. People will make keygens.
  4. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. 1080p film grain....
  5. Also "carry-out". In the US "take away" means what information you get out of a situation, or what the core point was. For example, "The take away from that after school special was that drugs are bad."
  6. Fiancee and I are doing something special. Don't know what yet though.
  7. Why do I even open the New Vegas page from school? I can't look at any of the threads...

Jesus, I wish my law school had censored web content. I saw some real strange stuff that I can never unsee on fellow students' monitors during class.

  8. So, with classes starting today, the final tally is that I played to my satisfaction 15 of the 46 games, or just under 33%. I didn't do as well as I'd hoped (I'd been hoping for 50%), but it's better than I feared it might turn out. Stupid Starcraft hogging all my time...
  9. There's a mobile profile for the board.
  10. I tried the demo to Blur, didn't like it. Also didn't like The Club. Like PGR a lot though, so that's sad.
  11. Well yeah, it's a coop game. I don't really see how it's different from stuff like Halo or Gears in that respect, except that it's on PC.
  12. What you call "pigeonholing" I call "not playing things I don't enjoy".
  13. L4D was only successful as a multiplayer experience though. Try playing it alone, it's not great.
  14. I would agree with that. Though I fucking loved Mirror's Edge.
  15. I don't want classes to start again. :(

Yeah. I'm dying right now from starting classes. I want... sleep... and games. Screw homework...

Personally, I'm choosing a Rogue this time around.

But, but, law school classes are fun! Well, I liked most of them at my school, at least.

  16. I find first-person more immersive. It's "I am this person" as opposed to "I'm controlling this person". *Edit* - That said, obviously games like The Force Unleashed wouldn't work in first-person, and I prefer third-person in racing games so I can have a better field of view.
  17. All of those things you say about single vs. multi are true, but for the most part I just don't get the same kind of enjoyment out of multiplayer that I get out of a campaign.
  18. I'm mostly into action-adventures and strategy games, with some shooters mixed in there. I'll play any genre though if there's a specific game that interests me.
  19. On one of my Structural Materials tests in undergrad I got a 38/100. Prior to receiving the test back I thought I'd done pretty well, maybe a high-B at worst. It was so much lower than my expectations that I wasn't even upset, I just started laughing.
  20. Oh yeah, I agree electric cars aren't quite there yet, I was speaking more in general terms than about specific currently-available cars. Unrelated to that: Metallic Glass Tougher than Steel
  21. Related thread, bears mentioning (not a duplicate though): Single Player Gamer I mostly prefer singleplayer, with a few notable exceptions (games like Starcraft and Monday Night Combat). I love me some coop though, and Firefight/Horde/Whatever-you-want-to-call-them modes. So really I think it's more that I prefer to play with people than against people. I don't have a good track record with MMOs. I play them a ton for a month or two, then quit. The longest I think I've ever played was WoW, and I managed to stick with that for about 6-8 months. I don't so much care about the lack of local-MP, but that's mostly because the people I want to play with now are spread all around the country anyway, so it doesn't really matter. If Starcraft II had come out when I was still in undergrad though, with roommates to play with, I would have been quite irritated with its lack of LAN.
  22. I never ragequit mid-match either. I've ragequit plenty of times BETWEEN matches, but I never do it until the match is over (unless it's over something that makes it completely unplayable, like horrible lag or such). That's interesting. I only really play Starcraft 2 online, but at least in that game I prefer it when my enemies quit when they know they have no chance, and I do the same (though always prefaced with a sincere "gg" before I do), cause I feel like slugging it out to the end is kind of a waste of time when the result is predetermined. I look at it kind of like chess: you only play till checkmate, you don't actually take the king. So at least when I do that I'm not ragequitting, I'm just acknowledging that I've lost and moving on to my next match. Though I will say that I find it irritating when people do it too early, like the very instant you get a hit on one of their buildings. When I do it it's usually like all my production facilities are completely destroyed and they're pounding on my resource operation, and I have no hope of reinforcements. Also though it's less of an issue in Starcraft 2 for people who DO want to finish wiping out the base, cause you can hit "keep playing" after the victory thing pops up.
  23. Well it started last semester, when none of us had Thursday/Friday classes. I'm not sure what we'll do this semester, since at least my schedule is now a WTF schedule instead of a MTW schedule.
  24. Electricity is cheaper than either gasoline or diesel. Plus if you get an electric car, it runs on whatever the power grid runs on, which isn't coal everywhere (around here there's actually quite a bit of wind power) and even where it is coal, it can/will be replaced with other sources in the future.
