What are you listening to now?

http://makeupandvanityset.bandcamp.com/album/charles-park-iii This. Start-to-finish. Holy shit. Listen. -
Yeah, but if you're in a major metro in the US, excluding LA, you really don't need to do much driving. Everything's pretty nearby. Hell, I don't even own a car!

There are like 20 Walmarts all around Seattle... http://www.walmart.c...st=%2Findex.gsp I understand why you might think so, but none of those are in Seattle proper. No one who lives in Seattle goes out that far unless they have to, and none of those Wal-Marts are technically considered within the city limits. The closest one on that list there was the Renton one, which doesn't count. Renton has its own mayor, city government, etc. In short, don't believe everything the internet tells you. There ain't no Wal-Marts 'round these parts. All of them are in cities or towns nearby, but none are in Seattle proper. Note: Edited to remove unnecessary abrasiveness. It's early! I'm not thinking straight!

Yeah. I mean, I've lived all over the states for a.... while, and I've never seen a Mars bar outside of the 'International Foods' section. I have seen Almond Snickers, though. Quite often.
-
No, I get the first two parts about the Mars Bar, I've lived in India for, like, half my life, it's just that we don't call anything a 'Mars Bar'. EDIT: "We" being Americans, not Indians. Or.... wait. Okay, I live in Seattle, and there isn't a Wal-Mart anywhere near me. US Mars Bars only got picked up recently, last year, I think, and they're a Wal-Mart exclusive product. I was unaware they sold "Mars bars" in the US. I get it, now. But just so you know, if you ask people in the US what a Mars bar is, they'll say, "Oh, that thing that's like a Milky Way, but you don't get in Canada." My point is, Mars bars are not very popular here and are only sold in one chain. I haven't encountered them ever because I live in a city where there are no Wal-Marts. Glad we cleared this up.

We get Almond Snickers here in the US, as well. The only thing is that a US Milky Way doesn't have, or taste like it has, almonds in it. So I'm not quite sure where you're getting that from.
-
No. None of those are standard in America, as I'm sure you know. Garbage disposals aren't even standard, and I've encountered them in equal measure worldwide, though I'm not as experienced in Western European travel.

That's what I don't like about Demons's Souls. So this is more of the same then? Yep. Lots of people might see this as an issue, but I love the use of death as a tool for learning. It's really different from most other types of games. It's great!

http://kotaku.com/5846698/so-how-does-la-noire-look-on-pc/gallery/1 I don't think Bondi's handling it. It launches Nov 8 in the US, and Nov 11 for you European folks. So, it's coming soon. I'm glad I waited to buy it. Get excited, PC gaming brethren!

Okay, so I just saw the first Persona 4: The Animation. I didn't enjoy it. It's too early to tell how good the characterization will be, but so far? It's not very good. Narukami has no discernible personality whatsoever, and while this might be an attempt to get across the 'blank slate' or very subtle personality from P4, it ends up feeling weird and unnatural when the character has a speaking role. The fight with the random mobs wasn't very entertaining, either, nor was it especially exciting. I'm unsure of how well the characterization will work, as well, because it seems like the show is very rushed at the moment. From what I've seen so far, I don't think this series will be very good. I'll keep watching, though. **Sigh**. The first episode was a disappointment.

I have Dark Souls, now. Yeah.
-
Welp, I just reserved a copy from the GameStop 25 miles away. I'm helping a friend who lives right by it move in exchange for a ride (I don't have a car). I'm ecstatic and excited. Fuck to the yes.
-
Firebombs, mate. Fuckin' firebombs.
-
I know, I know, I should've. I'm still looking for someone to blame, though. I do find it kind of ridiculous that GS, a company with a near-monopoly on the US physical games market, wouldn't have more copies for a game that has been endlessly hyped by the mainstream games media for the past six months.
-
So I walk into Gamestop at 8 AM, and I'm the first customer of the day. I ask for a copy of Ico/SotC and a copy of Dark Souls. Ico/SotC I get fine, but Dark Souls, they tell me they sold out at midnight release, then reprimanded me for not preordering. It was all I could do to keep myself from exploding right there. What. The. Fuck. This isn't some tiny fucking release, Gamestop! Have you seen the amount of publicity it's been getting over the past six fucking months?! Also, I don't fucking appreciate the look, Mr. GameStop Employee! You know, the one where you make me feel like I come in looking for fucking Ikaruga on Dreamcast! You have dropped the ball, GS. I fucking want Dark Souls and I'm going to find a way to fucking get it. To the indie stores! Awayyyyy!!!
-
Dark Souls and Ico/SotC Collection. These two are gonna suck up my time for a while.
-
Oh, I didn't realize we were listing feature length, also. Yeah, watch Akira. Seriously, watch Akira. The Girl Who Leapt Through Time was great, also. As ST said, 5 cm Per Second is good, and you should really watch Ghost In The Shell, which is on Netflix, as well.
-
So I'm buying this tomorrow. It's gonna be cool.

I like the VA for Haruko, but Naota's VA really, really bothered me. Anyway the moment in the final episode that especially blows me away every time is when What a great scene. What a great finale and what a great series. I remember being absolutely blown away the first time I saw it and I keep getting blown away every time I watch it again. Let the naysayers say nay, I love FLCL! My second favorite non feature-length anime ever (after Eva).
-
Yeah, the dub kind of sucks. I've only watched it start to finish with subs. As for recommendations, Samurai Champloo is on Netflix, and it's a pretty good jumping on point. A vast world of excitement awaits you, Duke.
-
So I just finished rewatching FLCL. I hadn't seen it in years. It's as good as I remember, particularly that final episode. Excellent series.

El Shaddai. So I'm going to talk about it. The game was good. Damn good. But many people are saying that this is one of the games we should show to skeptics to prove games are art. I'm not sure I agree. Don't get me wrong, I think all games are art, but El Shaddai didn't feel as much like an art game as a game with art in it. El Shaddai had beautiful backgrounds, characters and music, but what it ultimately lacked was any of the aspects of games that make them a unique medium to work with. That is to say, I believe El Shaddai could have been a more meaningful piece of art as a television series or a film. Games like Metroid Prime offer a sense of atmosphere and immersion through interactivity in a manner no other medium can replicate, but in El Shaddai the marvelous vistas and beautiful corridors you move down feel less immersive and more detached, like I'm looking at a painting in a gallery. My point is, games like Metroid Prime and Heavy Rain are not only great pieces of art, but are pieces of art which would not be as meaningful or satisfying in another medium. El Shaddai is a great piece of art, but while playing it, I felt more like I was moving through a lovely painting than playing a game.
