  1. I can absolutely buy that in the case of big established franchises. If you already know people are gonna buy it, releasing a demo just runs the risk of those people realizing the game isn't as good as they thought it would be. Smaller stuff, though? I think a demo can go a long way towards convincing someone that something new is worth their time.

    Guild Wars

Yeah the only way to be sure you get in the beta is to pre-purchase, which defeats the point. GW2 is one of the extremely rare cases where I'm willing to buy it without playing first. I can see why others wouldn't though.

And also, if you pre-purchase from their site, at least in europe, you are probably mad. I found a pre-order for the game's retail version for 15 euros less than their website price.
  4. I think your problem is called "being a straight guy." A lot of us share it.
  5. normal earbuds are crazy uncomfortable to a lot of people. People who are serious about this stuff tend to buy custom mold IEMs to fit their ear canals.
  6. I remember that fight. I'm considering just ponying up the cash to buy Makoto. Then I'd have three characters I can play decently. I do love her playstyle. I was planning on just waiting until I buy Extend to play her, but fuck that if it's not gonna drop in price soon.
  7. Let The Right One In was a good film but most of the actors were ass. Like Ethan says, it's harder to notice bad acting in foreign languages. I've never seen a Swedish film where I thought the acting was good. If I enjoy a Swedish movie, it's in spite of the acting, not because of it.
  8. Fuchi, the thing with BlazBlue's netcode is that it uses the intro cinematic to stabilize the connection. If it's skipped, it's gonna lag badly.
  9. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (the remake). I've never seen the original - Swedish actors are in general so shit it's not worth even trying - but this one was excellent.
  10. Provided both people have decent connections, that is. It just didn't work when I played against Shaner. That said, I'm amazed at how well PSN works over the ocean. BlazBlue, UMvC3 and UC2&3 have all worked way better than expected. Though BlazBlue's netcode is the best I've ever fucking seen. Like Six, I'm up for playing anyone here. I only have BlazBlue Continuum Shift and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 right now, and I far prefer playing BlazBlue. Wanna pick up Extend at some point... PSN name is JohnnyWarpzone.
  11. Yeah Sword of the Stars 2: Lords of Winter was broken as fuck on release, but I honestly don't see that one case is enough to damn them. Most of their other stuff has been great.
  12. I don't think anyone else here plays it currently. Would be awesome if they did, but they seem to be busy playing bad games
  13. Why can't it be mostly a donation with also a small investment in that you get the game (and potentially some other goodies) when it's released?
  14. There are certain gaming projects that I, if I had the spare cash, would happily donate to because I'd like to see them get made. Because I care about games and the gaming medium. Like Six says, it's not a charity... But I do think it's a worthy cause to donate to. Besides, it's my money, why should I not be able to spend it on whatever cause I feel like?
  15. Moral high ground? For fuck's sake, you're the one trying to argue that one shouldn't donate. We're not saying you're wrong if you're not donating.
  16. If anyone's upset it's probably because you're acting like a huge cock. And actually, I have not donated to kickstarter. There were a few times I've wanted to, but generally my being fucking broke has gotten in the way a lot.
  17. ...Who are you to judge people because the causes they donate to aren't "good enough"? Unless you're seriously trying to argue that kickstarter is not only "not good enough", but that it's actually bad. I really hope that's not what you're arguing.
  18. A short explanation about why Kickstarter works: Enthusiast gamers care about cool game projects. Enthusiast gamers with spare cash are sometimes willing to part with some of that cash to help those projects become finished games. It's not an investment that grants a return of cash. It's an investment that grants a return of this cool project becoming a reality. I don't see why this concept is difficult.
  19. Though that's why the scientific community does peer-reviews of scientific papers. It's pretty hard to misrepresent your data without being caught at it when you have some of the most nitpicky people in the world looking over your shoulder.

Didn't know. I played Tribes 2 for 5 minutes 10 years ago and it was pretty fun... no reason not to try this for free!

https://account.hirezstudios.com/tribesascend/?referral=1274214&utm_campaign=email Oh my, we have referrals now. And yeah, it's sort of great. It still gets patches every week too, (Unlike some games we know, DICE)...

Tribes: Ascend is so much fun to play compared to modern casual shit.

      VGS!
