  1. Election hijinks and COVID-19 has nothing on dealing with and worrying about a sick pet. With that said, my dog is getting better after almost a week of diarrhea hell. I'm so relieved.

I'm not going to be seeing her until Friday at the soonest. ?

  2. Ah, well, hope it turns out well. Anyhow, I seriously think there's a construction industry blind spot to all this social isolation and things like that. While each crew may not be that big or interact with other people but the workers can travel far for work and they are stuck in hotels. There's a possibility that the virus can spread around at the hotel, at work, at lunch/dinner and when people head home. For example, I just traveled about 200 miles to a hotel so I can work. I'm expected to work so I am at work since you know, need to pay bills and maintain employment for health benefits. Thing is I came from a hot spot. So I potentially spreading the virus without being sick. I hope I am not but eh*... But for this work trip, I opt to make my dinner in my room so I don't directly spread it to the community. One thing to note is that home for some people can be much more than 200 miles and may involve small and/or isolated communities. I feel like I should voice my concerns to say my state representative or something to maybe shut this all down... Potentially putting MANY people out of work. I think it has to be a government mandate to shut this all down even though multiple parties can shut it down, no one wants to be the one that does it. Though, maybe I should look at this in a different way: long haul truck drivers. In many ways they similar but also much more mobile. They are keeping many things going... Blah. Maybe I should stop thinking. * I HATE the idea that I can be potentially spreading COVID-19. One big reason is that I am Chinese-American and I hate to validate any racist beliefs in any way.

Me and Ethan was lamenting about it on Twitter. It's honestly kind of driving me up the wall. I'm doing my best so I don't inadvertently ice my grandma but she's sometimes goes out to ride the bus in a Californian hot spot. I guess what will come will come. Problem for Future Me. Problems for Future Me... exponential curves are haunting me.
  4. You know, my work requires a lot of travel. I feel like I should just not work but clients are expecting us to be monitoring and my family needs all the money we can get before the hammer comes down. I'm so conflicted and feels powerless by being tugged by two polar opposite necessities. I have bought stuff to make noodle soups in my hotel room so I can limit contact with people and well... limit contact with potential irrational and/or total racist asses. This is tiring. Edit: Also, Ethan, I hope that trial went on?

Looking at the numbers, Italy's is just plain alarming. Hospitals got slammed and wow. Very stark contrast to say Taiwan (screened everyone and took swift action on the get-go) or South Korea (emergency measures then punched down the curve). Of course, you can never be sure if officials are not tweaking the numbers however they can. In the US, it absolutely has happened and I have heard of similar things elsewhere in say certain EU member states. Of course, you got to wonder about China's numbers. With that said, even with grains of salt, you got to take the numbers given out as mostly real. Too many countries to try to compare and contrasts that it's to the point that it's not healthy to do so. Either way, statistics says that the next 1-3 weeks and beyond will be fun.
  6. I'm still digesting the Watchmen comics. It honestly was kind of shocking in what happened. From watching the first episode, I'd never would have guess something so major happened. Now I'm curious about everything for the TV show. Like what's the new order in the world actually came out to look like. Anyhow, I'll crush Castlevania Season 3 first since I need something that's pure fun in times like these...

Looks like Mexico might close the border with the US.
  8. This whole ordeal is revealing and making bare a lot of things in rapid secession. Just hoping people are paying attention.
  9. I won't be getting the PC release for a long while. If anything, I think the Switch version is a bit more tempting. Though better performance would be nice. The physical edition is nice but I don't think $99 plus space nice. I really want some figurines instead. As for Zero, I have downloaded the one I bought from DLSite a while back. I'm basically revving to go. For you, I'm doubtful DLSite or anywhere would do a surprise sale (I think I got it for like $10-15?) for a mod, especially with Falcom's blessing. Of course, I guess you could wait for a maybe official localization. Be funny if the Geofront release get hit with a letter to stop. Ao will have to be pirated, sadly, but I think there's a version without all the malware bullshit (straight from the Chinese release) on it floating around. English patched (Edited Guren TL leak) and ready to go. The drop in quality will be noticeable but eh. I'll cross this bridge when I get there. Edit: Found it and starts fine but I'm not going to poke around.
  10. What a banger of a battle theme. The old Falcom Soundteam JDK was quite something.
  11. I just might stop my CS3 run to do Zero and Ao. I finally got to the field exercise portion of Chapter 4 before I think shit really hit the fan. LET'S DO THIS! Speaking of CS3, the PC demo is out.
  12. You know... I consciously never had a thought that the US federal response to SARSCov-19/COVID-19 would be this bad. Yes, my expectations were low, pessimistically so. I just wasn't pessimistic enough. We had a month or two to prepare. We practically did nothing. We have the potential to match South Korea's response but we followed Italy's blunder. We had always kind of known but: Make America Great Again? My ass. And l'll admit that this is peeving me far more than most of what the Trump administration did due to it's potential to harm my family and love ones. Almost going to war with Iran is similar (a few family members are in the military). Statistically it is but guaranteed that at least two adults in my life, likely more due to their age and underlying health conditions, will be in the hospital if they all show sign of infection. Now for a thought that never crossed my mind: the government is majority or is wholy responsible for the harm of my family. What a sick joke.

While this pertaining to the United States response to COVID-19, I'm putting it here since it's part of a larger issue. That and election year stuff. My feelings for the federal COVID-19 response in the United States is that they are doing the least while still being able to say that they are doing something. They do not care that it spreads or how unchecked it spreads. If it does spread, it is up to state and local governments to deal with it. But yeah, try to live normally but I feel like the breaks will be slammed down in the near future.
  14. She's out. No endorsement yet.
  15. "? I like cute things. ?" https://twitter.com/i/events/1235295883920625665 Cute things are lovely ? One of my favorite pieces to come about this year and it came around on a kind of shitty day. Cheered me up enough
  16. So the field has narrows to Warren, Sanders, Biden and Bloomberg just before Super Tuesday. Warren is the most interesting one to watch since she's seems to be ever morphing. Unless she truly believes in her own vision and keeps trucking it, as much as I hate to say, I wouldn't be surprised if she throws her hat in with Biden after tomorrow. If that happens, it'd be interesting to see state and local officials endorse who, especially those that endorse Warren.
  17. I hope to go through books like that one day... again. Maybe I'll do it when I laze around with my dog.

Bay Area is panicking a bit. Start of little to no masks, hand sanitizers, hand soap, rice, chicken and dwindling stock of cheaper meat. My household stocked up a bit. It SHOULD blow over by the end of March, maybe April (Federal response is... poor. Trump chosed Pence to lead...). We'll see... I'm debating on discussing this with my employer. Line up some office tasks I can do remotely in the case I need to isolate at home or maybe keep me away from the Bay Area so I can continue working.

Ooo, the slightly longer glances. This will be fun.
  20. The normal that the moderates are peddling to get us back to is a just isn't there anymore and really, it was an illusion that no one can maintain. Especially unmaintainable by holier-than-thou leaders. It played no small role in getting us Trump, who's holier-than-thou in the completely different fashion. He's also a symptom of a larger problem. I believe, nominated or not and win or lose, Bernie (now along with Warren, and back in 2016) has started a progressive push that I don't think will be suppressed. Suppression would probably break the Democrat party... which may not be a bad thing. Break the illusion that Ethan mentioned (the Democratic party is pretty conservative as a whole). Honestly, this is going to be a long process, probably a decade or more of elections and reforms to get something like M4A or GND in place. It'll need the House and the Senate. It'll also need state and local governments. All assuming we don't tear ourselves apart or some shit and I become a raging old man in a failing world.
  21. This might be sweet... might even scratch a similar itch to EDF.
