You know, I can't believe I never really gave System of the Down a chance when I was younger. I think what would've turned me off would be Serj Tankian's vocal style but for present day me, I love it. It sells their songs well. I can't complain about how he sometimes goes total Valley Girl accent too.

Yeah, I think at this point there needs to be a leader to all this so that the movement can consolidate around firm ideals. What is obvious is what we have now cannot stay else it'll fester like it did since the original BLM movement in 2016, Rodney King in 1991/1992, the Civil Rights Movement in the 60's and beyond to Jim Crow and slavery. Give black people equality, lest they seek vengeance.

The PC version from China can be made safe. There is already one prepatch (with Flame edit) and ready to go. From reading the blog post, they will be using the original Guren translation, which is the same thing they did with Zero. The biggest thing though is that they found a way(s) to legally buy the PC version. That was THE hold up a few months back. I can't believe they found a way but I guess the main issue was that going through Chinese sites is a whole other ballgame than going through Japanese sites which all the translators could do. Localization wise, the playbook is in place so things can go faster. Hard part will be probably the coding backend. While people have played around with it, who knows how the port was put together. Ribose got her (I think I got Ribose gender right) work cut out for her.

You've probably seen something like the following: I'm supportive of firing everyone of them then hiring back a reduced group. Perhaps as sheriff departments, all municipal police departments are axed. I want a greater community involvement in at least who leads the law enforcement agency (which sheriff kind of do though they can easily be worse than city cops [e.g., SFPD versus SF Sheriff Dept). The reduced (defunded) police force will then have a reduced but focused purpose. Basically where deadly force can be warranted which would be few. Gone are police in traffic stops, wellness checks, domestic violence cases among other things. Those activities are taken up by newer, purposed built, unarmed (I'm thinking more mostly unarmed, no firearms) agencies, funded by the funds from the defunded police. Not saying the police cannot be there but they are for sure not the first people that comes knocking and if they do come, they are for sure not the lead agency. In effect, it will rip out the foundations of law enforcement as we know it. In essence, they are abolished. In its place is some form of the above. In many ways I can see why some are clamoring for a total abolition of the police. Its current form is nothing more than a militant gang. They are rarely every held accountable which is only half the problem. Their racial bias is clear. Sure not all cops and not all agencies are bad but the foundations' rotten. Time to abandon it all... then make something better in its place. It is madness to not have anything to fill the void. Edit: Should also mention that the prison system will get nuked. Perhaps even more severely than the police. There might be a few more systems and industries too.

I'm telling you, Persona is like the only big JRPG fish left for PC. That and the related Shin Megami Tensei series. If they are going to do this, they will mention that it's for P4G, P5R and future titles. This handily covers the ~3 years time frame Durante mentioned. Similar deal with SMT if that's coming over as well. Might make it more crowded so I'm going with a no here but if Persona comes over, it seems to be only a matter of time for SMT.

Cataloging and protecting (significant) paleontological resources is literally the purpose of my job. Seems like you got a really good site which would require monitors like me to watch excavations. With that said, while it would delay the project with say a 50 foot buffer, work can go on elsewhere outside the buffer. If the call is made to extract, then a team (not me unless I get asked) will be there to extract (depending how complicated, we can probably be out in a week or two) while others monitor earthmoving elsewhere. If the fossils are really shitty, we just document it then work can resume. It's ain't hard! In the end, you could have the fossils displayed at the airport or say a museum in say Mexico City to show off the rich pre-history of Mexico or the state/city the fossils were found. They're basically cool ass trophies that you don't have to rob indigenous people to get.

But the way he worded it seem to imply the federal armed forces. The national guard in each state is the states to command. In order for Trump to deploy the national guard, it'd need to be federalized, as according to a NPR commentator. So the ones in DC is the army (or other branch) and any one he sends to an uncompliant state or city will be as well. Anyway, he is really pushing it.

It was bound to be with us during the summer but, yeah, I'm dreading seeing the numbers starting in about a week or two. Sadly, it will hit the marginalized communities the hardest. Should the protesters be protesting? Coming from a place of safety... I argue, absolutely, if they are able and willing. Be safe as best you can. All others (like myself) got their own ways of helping. Though to be fair, I'm tempted to round up and zip tie the taggers and more serious vandals, if asked to. Seems obvious that some are there for their own selfish reasons.

Yeah, apparently all this is far easier than arresting and charging all four cops in George Floyd murder, the three in the fucked up raid that killed Breonna Taylor and many MANY past others. There are cases where the police have stand with protesters and for that I'm hopeful but all else is fucked. All this during a pandemic too.

So... it has been a month since the last post here. After a rope-less lynching, a no-knock plain-clothed police raid, and another (!) "I can't breath" murder caught on camera... shit's on fire. I suspect we haven't even reached the peak. Lord help us if the three in Georgia, three cops in Louisville and/or the four cops in Minneapolis are let go. It'd be Rodney King/LA Riots level again. In times like these where anti-Chinese sentiment is growing, mainly due to perceived notions of COVID-19 for everyday America, I'm actually concerned that a LA Riots situation where rioters not only turn on police but other minorities they view as causing them grief. While one of the cops in the George Floyd killing is Hmong, blind hatred see no distinction between Hmong, Chinese, Korean, Japanese or whatever else. The above is for sure self-interested/selfish. Fact is, the lived reality of Black America is something I can only imagine. Perhaps someday I'll write how it feels to be Asian in America. How I view the Asian American experience. Civil rights and all that.There's a lot to unpack, explore and research on. What a fucking year this has been...

Hmm, CS4 is this year and accounted for. Hajimari shouldn't take 3 years, hell, it could be here late next year (is this mid or long-term?). Ys IX should be within that same 1.5 year time frame. I also don't think the remasters of the Crossbell games is going to push 3 years... 2.5 maybe if it's not a priority. The whole Kiseki series is taking a break from what I recall. Like years break. Could fit in the end of the 3 years but... Maybe Falcom got the stick out of their asses and will begin simultaneous worldwide release starting for games after Hajimari and Ys IX. Test it out with say Ys X and whatever project Falcom has. Fits with mid- to long-term things. Honestly, it for sure could be non-Falcom related. Only big series I can think of is Persona on PC. Outside of Persona, I don't recall any other JRPG or Japanese series that's highly lacking and sought-after on PC. Not sure if it's mid- to long-term though. Feel like it all can be machined gunned out. Guess we'll wait and see.

Wuhan has begun to get noticeable clusters of cases since they lifted their hard, weld your door shut, lockdown. So they're going through SIP (or something quite like it) and looks like they plan to test EVERYONE in the city. Timeline is a bit nebulous but seems like 10 days to draw up a plan and ramp up testing (seems like it has already started). I'm getting a sense of confusion and figuring it out as they go (as we all are). Initial reports mentioned maybe trying to test everyone in 10 days but that's is so out the range of the current reality. While nowhere near as dense, Wuhan is home to over 11 million people compared to NYC of over 8 million just to give the sense of scale (the Tri-State area would bump it up significantly though to 20-30 million depending on how you define it). This got to be a month(s) long process after figuring out the daunting logistics of it all. False positives and false negative rates is going to be absolutely scrutinized at this scale, even with multiple tests. Also crucial for such an effort is a robust and swift contact tracing program so any outbreaks doesn't go undetected and spread. A fairly strong SIP order (e.g., stick to your communities) should help. Overall, I get a sense that China is really desperate to keep this under control with extreme means if necessary. Just a few weeks ago they locked down a small city bordering Russia after a few dozen cases popped up. Perhaps to maintain a strong sense of legitimacy (especially with President Xi) but also, I believe, as a sort of cold war with the West. The sacrifices, both personal and civil (from the pandemic and to both before and after), must be justified otherwise what was the point of it all? Us out in the West also have a series of identical and similar questions. I feel the decisions made in the next month or two are going to be quite consequential. It will guide us in the move to the new normal with the pandemic and a new normal for after the pandemic.
