This song is not in the game (what's there is actually inferior) but makes total sense after everything is over in EDF 5. While the battle song is subpar, EDF 5 improves on practically everything from 4.1. Taking place in what I assume is an alternative timeline, we actually fight aliens this time. These aliens, the frogs (I DEMAND ALIENS RIGHTS) and actual grey aliens, replace the classic EDF enemy: Hectors. While it saddens me that there are no Hectors but the aliens brings A LOT to the table. The frogs are the nearly 1:1 replacements to the Hectors with a twist: you can shoot off limbs for a much needed, if gory, layer of tactical crowd control. Of course they can regrow limbs but you can just one-hit kill them with a strong enough shot to the head. Easy enough. The grey aliens though, they wear armor. At minimum they take two well placed shots to kill. If not, prepare to stunlock them with excessive firepower. Oh yeah, these aliens know to flank you too... These two aliens poses a threat that the Hectors never were. On the player's end, there is too many to even mention them all. My top three would be 1) the improved loot system where weapon crates means something (for weapon upgrades) and what is picked up can apply for all classes; 2) while still very powerful, the wing diver received a much needed check on how her weapons work so she's not completely OP; and 3) no more double stacking on weapons during loadout which in MP really changes things. Like there's many more improvements like how the fencer isn't stuck a with needing an dash cancel loadout now but yeah... I love a lot of the changes done with EDF 5. A lot of craziness abound. Last mission spoiler: I LOVE THIS SERIES SO MUCH

Dunkirk How the narrative was split up is a bit confusing. You constantly have to reorient yourself to which timeline you are watching. With that said, this might age better with subsequent viewings.

Bullshit. NISA been doing this shit for FOREVER. My expectations were low yet they even blew the floor away and got close to Hell. Seriously, I gave them a chance. Even I went "Umm... wow." at the level of incompetence/malice they showed. Actually, I think we are in Hell. I will (so should Falcom) only give NISA one more chance. I WANT THEM TO SURPRISE ME. With that all said, I've been hearing troubling news about Falcom lately, mainly with regards to their music department. You know, a major part of what makes Falcom games so awesome. I think from Ys VIII onwards, most of the old people are gone. The new lead guy is apparently subpar but I need to play Ys VIII to really know. I think the Steam sale might have it at 20% but that is not low enough for me considering my large backlog.

It's an easy crime that most police do not even bother with. With that said, these harmless traps should be more of a thing. I personally would use spray paint laced or like paint like those anti-theft tags on clothing in a disposable trap.

Where's Adol? Where's my boi!? inb4 he's not playable This Gothic theme is kind of new. I'm just curious where this fits in the timeline and all since I never got the impression that something like this was around. There is the Romun (Roman) Empire after all. Not to mention that the other games are very Mediterranean. I think the closest it got to Gothic is Oath. Specifically Valestein Castle. Anyhow, I'll look at it what's available some more later. Edit: https://www.falcom.co.jp/ys9/ Adol is indeed not the focus (like Origin)... and the more I look at it, the more I agree that it kind of feels like a different game but we'll see.

Honestly I'm not sure where to put this but: Bao is up on Youtube for a week or so. It is very on point, especially on anything food related.

Earth Defense Force 5 Holy shit. This is amazing. Best EDF yet. We lost fighting the hectors but we gained more by fighting frogs and greys. Seriously, they are far more interesting to fight than the hectors. The frogs would be the closest to the hectors. The aliens comes in their regular and heavy armor forms. You won't be oneshotting them with a sniper rifle since you need to knock off some armor first. Also that final mission. Holy shit. Oh yeah. GOTY. Totally not bias.

For those that still care. On another note... so many games to get through.

Overall it is a strategy RPG.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna the Golden Country I'm freed from this game. I enjoy this expansion but this being a prequel really put a damper on things story and character wise. Which kind of sucks since I identify myself more with this Lora and company than Rex and company. Combat and overworld exploration is much tighter though since you don't have an army of Blades to juggle around (read: grindy). If you thought the combat in the base game was good then please try this one out. I think overall I will give XC2 a B+ (out of S) despite all my naggles I have about the game. If I were younger and less versed in Anime Bullshit (tm), I'd be all over this game. Tons of growing pains (and tutorials till the end) but shit if the combat is fun as hell. Hopefully someday I'll get to play XC1 and then have the pleasure of playing XC3 whenever it get announced and released.

Got it digital on the Switch so I can swap to it anytime I want. Screw Smash Ultimate! The Prince and the King of the Cosmos needs me!
