https://timesofindia.com/world/us/first-obligation-is-to-americans-says-us-on-indias-request-for-vaccine-raw-materials/articleshow/82219263.cms So, are we (US and other Western countries) seriously going to let India drop in a COVID nightmare that even us in the United States cannot comprehend? This pandemic is not over for anyone until it's over for everyone. For the maker of a lot of pharmaceuticals including COVID-19 vaccines for the world to be sieged just seems so evil. It's like an echo of colonialism. The United States has the two mRNA vaccines plus J&J that is on the verge of being reapproved. We have a stockpile of tens of millions of AZ vaccines that we very likely do not need. Best place to shore up is India (even if it's a drop in a bucket) or even Mexico or Canada (our neighbor to the north is having issues from what I hear). I swear, if we keep this up then we deserve to have a variant that wipe the floor with our mRNA vaccines.
  2. Holy crap, Utsu-P got Miku to growl/husky.
  3. Two mass shootings in about a week. Atlanta is kind of special (to Asian Americans anyhow) but Boulder is kind of looking to be the run of the mill mass shooting. Just another guy having a bad day just shooting people. Guess we're going back to normal. Mass shootings is so normalized that it's sick. I hate how my mind process it now with such neutral tones. There's nothing new to talk about or even do but to mourn the dead. I'm so tired of this.
  4. If they do this then it might work but I'm not sure how it can include Rean full-time unless he gets swapped to the group who went west which would throw a wrench to the whole timeline. If I recall, Crow was generally with the other group so if they do a duel protags then it could work. If they had went full real-time, Falcom would've gotten rid of the whole SPD and Delay problem they had since the first game. Doing it this way kind of keeps that problem (unless they have finally solved it). Really like how there's no cuts when you properly engage in battle. ?
  5. OMG, they found the master to Project A-ko. ? There was a planned upscale but now they can image directly from the master for even 4K Project A-ko.
  6. Watching the Dems squander everything as an adult is fun. I'm just going to summarize them as grifters now.
  7. Geofront's Azure fan localization should be ready by the end of winter too so all the pieces are almost in place. I wonder if we'll hear about Hajimari sometime this year for next year release. Maybe we can hope for a late 2022 PC release?
  8. Same song. Watch the first one for CC English and see if you can guess the theme and historical backdrop of the song. Second one for the music video will dispel any doubt (not sure if it's fan made). It's a woman's processing the lost of her husband (?) during the White Terror during Taiwan's Martial Law era from 1949 to 1987. This song is sung in Taiwanese/Hokkien/Holo which lends it so much omph to it. Actually, this band is amazing: Starts in Japanese and goes into Amis, one of Taiwan's Indigenous languages. The thumbnail image is also packed with symbolisms too, with the flowers (Dutch, Imperial China, Imperial Japan, Indigenous tribes that's now Christian???, ROC/modern Taiwan). The first song is processing the White Terror while the second song is about Taiwanese identity. What heavy but amazing songs. This is how a society process their history and being. I'm obsessed with this band now and I only found them a few hours ago by complete accident.

That will turn out so well
  10. I personally think this looks fine. Not sure how it is structured but it's... literally another FFVII remake?
  11. YOU GET IT But yeah, what's going on is just the start. 5-10 years ago no one would've thought this would be possible but gotta keep pushing. Ultimate goal: Since: This side of the bay is way harder but to get this is a great start. I might be an old man by this is all over but perhaps things will get better with regard to housing. With that said: Hawaii is trying to do something special regarding housing:
  12. The avocados (all Hass or similar variety) he shows are absolute perfection. It's actually kind of hard to get unbruised ones at the market... Unless you get a rock hard one to let it ripe. Even then you might get one that's bruised on the outside and rock hard on the inside. Anyhow, he shows you the color difference between fresh and ripe avocado. How it feels is what he (and like I) said. On a personal note, I'm really into the fuerte variety of avocado. Super flavourful but far pickier on ripening since you either can peel the skin off or you'll be scraping it off. The skin is far thinner than a Hass, which can be scooped. So if it's even a slightly overripe, the skin on a fuerte is very fragile.
  13. Very local but... We'll see how this goes and if it spreads to other California cities. The city next to mine*, South San Francisco, is considering the possibility of ending single-family zoning (SFZ). I also know Sacramento is considering it too. The idea now is to allow up to fourplexes to be built on where SFZ exist now. Mind, this doesn't have to mean tearing down the old building (thus probable displacement)! Though, fourplexes, no matter how you get it done, are not enough so hopefully so maybe it'll go up to the likes of apartments and the like. Maybe this is the turning point for ending this nightmare of suburban sprawl and addressing so many issues that stems from the lack of housing (be it luxury, market rate, affordable or low-income. *My city, Daly City, actually do kind of well for apartments for seniors or 55+. My grandma just rented a brand new place for herself (with help of my mom and uncle). While it's great to have more senior housing but it doesn't address it for younger folks who are likely to be displaced as they get priced out. Gentrification doesn't have to mean getting displaced because of new buildings but because the existing ones becomes more expensive due to lack of supply. How the building looks is not the entirety of neighborhood character. The most important part is the people.
  14. Foreword, I forgot to post this a few weeks back and this draft stayed stuck in my travel laptop. Anyhow: The non-colored ones are just random, I just toss down lines until I like what I see. Things got to look about right for me to keep things. Middle did have a circle as a guide but I find that I need to practice more with guides and skeletons (the nun really drove it home). It isn't unusual for me to draw something and they look like something from somewhere since if it looks about right, it has to take some inspiration from somewhere. For example, the one on the right looks like someone from Digimon (mainly Adventure and 02, probably Sora? It's the expression that's cueing me off). I haven't watched Digimon since I was a teenager but I can't deny that my style looks like from Digimon (I really do like the Digimon look) to some extent. Overall, my style inspirations are from Takehito Harada (Disgaea creator, I've been a fan since Disgaea), Dowman Sayman (a more recent inspiration), Hajime Ueda (FLCL manga), Koji Kumeta (Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei) and increasingly Keiichi Arawi (Nichijo). If you want a comic inspiration, easy, Bill Watterson's Calvin and Hobbes (lol, no need for introduction). There's more but I can name those above easily. While finding examples, I think I can see some Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei influenced what I drew (hair on the right) and probably Nichijo (for the middle, reminds me of the Professor). As an addon for this post: Coloring wise, I'm looking at my usual inspirations above but also Melan and tsuboP, just two random artists that I really do like on Twitter. There's actually a lot of talent on display on Twitter (e.g., Wasu/Cermrnl). Also, remember, don't be like Butch Hartman.
  15. Last time with Curiosity, we didn't get this view but this time we got an upgraded younger sibling to Curiosity with cameras, mic, helicopter and all other fun stuff developed within the last few years (think self driving AI and all that). With the AI helping to drive the rover, Perseverance should be able to cover far more ground than with a pilot at the controls with severe lag so more science can be done. Then there's the proof of concept helicopter that might revolutionize travel around Mars. Especially helpful for bots (or humans? Depending on weight and thrust issues, a human sized heli might not work on Mars?) to cover a lot of ground (like for collection of the core samples for a RETURN TRIP [probably a proof of concept that it'll work]!). Also I got to say, I was really surprised how hard it was to get a sense of scale during the descent. edit: My dream rover+UAV would be on Venus. Not sure if we'll ever engineer our way out of surface conditions so that we can drive or fly around but I want to see a sky base concept on Venus.
  16. It should be said, the ones Texas had mostly didn't work if they didn't winterize them in some fashion. Wind farms are regularly placed in far worse conditions. Honestly though, it seems like the biggest issue isn't production (besides coal, heard the coal supply literally froze together) but everything else related to the power plants (whatever they may be). Also, that doesn't quite tell the whole story. Each interconnection regularly sends power within itself. The Western Interconnection and Eastern Interconnection are also linked up in a few places. As a personal anecdote, I was getting calls to reduce my power usage in the San Francisco Bay Area so power can be sent back east. I bet it was kind of like a bucket brigade sort of thing with say CA power goes to NV/AZ and NV/AZ power goes to UT/NM/CO then NM/CO can use the few links to the Eastern Interconnection to send power to like Oklahoma. Not sure how regular this is or how pricey. Then of course there's ERCOT and the Texas Interconnection. There's a few connections with the Eastern Interconnection (and Mexico) with special rules so they don't get federally regulated but those are few and far between, and I don't think they typically use those connections since it just brings those special rules/exceptions back into the spotlight. So they go without and we get whatever the fuck happened. At the worst, you can basically outline the Texas Interconnection. The areas that are mostly fine are with one of the other interconnections. Other states that got similar conditions like say MS and LA got battered but nowhere near the level of TX. The entire Texas Interconnection failed (even if a majority of customers had power).
  17. Only thing I'm interested in (from what I can tell) but even then I'm being cautiously optimistic. Octopath Traveler was a fine game but wasn't really pushed by the characters or story since they really didn't intersect in any meaningful way. Another game you can compare this to is Fire Emblem Three Houses which to me has fantastic game play but the story(ies) left me scratching my head at the end. Some great characters and story beats but it didn't stick the landing for me.
  18. He's still an useful idiot. We all know how Trump functions, especially on getting to his good side so he does things for you. No way the Republicans don't know and hell, we do see lots of them kissing Trump ass to get what they want. If he dies before 2024 then whatever. And Thursday, you must be under the mistaken impression that they care. They will shred every norm and decency in the federal (I think this is a key word) government to get what they want. Like shit, the president technically can do anything. It's a win if they can get someone in there and if not and the person acts anywhere near like Trump but against them, they'll rally against the executive office. And you got a Dem leadership that wants to play nice... !?!?!!?! What a shitpost of a reality. Edit: Also I think the Texas snowstorm/power outage will be the national news, especially the aftermath. Like I knew there would be a winter storm for a few days before (hinted with a 100+ vehicle pileup) but then suddenly on Twitter I see people I follow starting to breakdown pallets and other wood furniture to burn for heat and asking how to stay warm. Like wow, what a massive failure of systems in Texas with 4 million plus households without power in the freezing cold with poorly insulated houses.
  19. Chaotic melody. Just add rage in the first song.
  20. Would be bomb if these character tunes would mix in during regular gameplay.
