I picked up the new HIB mobile bundle cos I've had my eye on Framed and it's quite neat. Interesting mechanic, though at the moment feels like there's only one "right" way to progress each level and hoping that changes as there's more panels and it progresses. Also picked up TES:Online for PS4 cos it was like £8, so that's updating atm.

So lately I've been playing Lightning Returns and it's sort of quite mixed for me. I'm enjoying playing it for the most part, apart from the whole time issues which I have been tempted to use CheatEngine as suggested by Eleven but tbh I can't figure it out. But it's certainly with its flaws and I'm really bummed that they carry on further and further departing from old Final Fantasy formulas. The battle system is quite annoying, having just Lightning to control, only a handful of spells to use and having to manually block damage (which seeing when an enemy will attack is hard amongst all the particle effects and really should have clearer telegraphing). The quests are mostly fetch quests in many cases, but I don't mind as you usually complete these in the process of doing your usual tasks. Unsure if I'm keen on the continuing direction FF is heading in. I've also been playing Puzzle Quest 2 on my phone, figured I'd finish that off. Turns out there's a "bug" in that stops you after going past the first floor unless you "purchase a class", which it won't let you do, and I'd purchased the game years ago any way. Looking at the reviews it seems a lot of people are having this issue.

This stuff is seemingly a lot further along than I thought. Probably stupidly expensive and likely for the most part in use by Panasonics own factories at the moment. Japan is defo the centre for this, mainly cos the latter half of the video is focused on the elderly which will become very important for the industry, as well as allowing workers to continue working for longer into their lives (which is gonna happen) Meanwhile the middle of the video...

Totally forgot that at my mums took it as an excuse to watch Stardust (all other movies she has I've either seen, or little interest in cos they're like rom coms n shit) I've tried to watch this many times, but for some reason I end up stopping around about when the star lands, so figured this was good as time as any to watch. My first impression of it is since last watching it I now kinda recognised the main actor, after looking up it's Matt Murdock with sight. Overall it's a pretty good "romp", and with the amount of british actor cameos in it I think "romp" is the right word and De Niro just enforces it as the cherry on top. The dead sword dueling was great too. And just now watched In (fucking) Bruges. I believe this is a fairly watched film. It's oddly dark. Yet a lot of humour from the absurd situations and...very "room with a view and a staircase and a pond" type and poking at it, but yeah gets rather dark which makes for quite the flip flop in tone and stark contrast and kind of not wanting to laugh cos of how dark its gotten. Also it likely gets its own "move says its own name" supercut.

So IDS has resigned, claiming it's cos the disability cuts but it's pretty clear it's over the whole "Brexit"(hate that term) divide. IDS has been happy to push for a bunch of extremely unsavoury anti-disabled/poor reforms for years as head of DWP. Good riddance, though hoping his replacement is better but given voting record not likely. He's right to be attacking the coked up shit stain of humanity we call Chancellor, and unlikely he'd ever make PM but Camerons days are looking glummer by the hour. Doubt he'll make it to the end of this term, especially after the EU vote. Gonna be good watching in the lead up to the EU vote to see the Tories tear themselves apart.

What We Do In The Shadows Was recommended by someone, and it was on Netflix other day when I was browsing for something to watch in the background. Was pretty funny, though in a way quite short too. Was a good parody of the various types of vampires from the Nosferatu style through to the more modern-ish Twilight types. And also slightly mocking the fact that documentary film makers seem to be able to go anywhere. If wanting something a bit light hearted give it a watch.

Slowly building up. And I'd guess upcoming Empire is gonna focus on it too.

Sony allow it cos developers asked for it, didn't need much more than that. No advantage to them to disallow it either really. MS were stick in the muds on the topic, which they continue to do so on many other policies they have which in general are harming them in acquiring developers (Rocket League was a notable absence from their line-up until recently). Never ended up with the Final Fantasy MMO's either. Not sure if they got XIV in the end. Of course from MS's end it's yet to be seen if they're just removing a policy, or if they'll actively develop API's to allow for example XBL and Steam cross play. Their wording seems like that's "no". Obviously Valve and Sony worked quite closely with the Portal 2 cross-play and free copies and such. Also Xbox One and PC isn't cross network, that's cross-platform. Kinda curious why they've not said "Xbox One and Steam Players" when that'd be more in-line with their new cross-network friendliness. So yeah, seems they're getting a lot of goodwill for removing a detrimental policy, rather than working on any actual useful tools to aid developers on their platform.

Yeah we played a fair bit of UK, was fun.I quite enjoyed the shooting and multilayered maps in that. Didn't get a chance with the UK beta though (unless it's still running?)

I didn't explain myself overly well: it's more the absurdity that something as obviously sugar laden as sweets would declare themselves as a "low fat snack". It's technically true, same as a stick of lard being sugar-free. You wouldn't really advertise that. Normally it's the other snacking options like nut bars or carrot sticks that go with the "low in fat" claims.

Picked up an MC Escher 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle to help pass some of my time off, been assembling it while watching Clone Wars in the background. I had wanted a wasgij, but seems they're a rare find in charity shops. For £1.50 can't really go wrong. Also this week went shopping with my mum and there was a shop selling a chunk of American foods on one of the aisles. Picked up some twinkies (my mum recognised them from the movies, but I had to show her the Ghostbusters scene), Twizzlers, Reece's Pieces and Reece's Cups (they had more, but only other thing of interest was Fluff which we've had before). The Reece's stuff was the only nice stuff, weird as it's made by Hersheys (which initially put my mum off, but the peanut smell was strong) and oh god the Twinkies exterior really belies their taste and texture. I guess we expected like a kind of spongey éclair.

Anyway picked up some American foods at a shop while with my mum and we noted that apart from them all having stickers on the back replacing the nutritional info (though I couldn't successfully peel any off to tell the difference), we found it funny that the "Twizzlers" (which are bland as hell btw) had "low in fat" proudly displayed on the front. They're 78% sugar. All the cereal has the "great source of vitamins" stickered over too.

I think the "trust us there'll be stuff in here we just don't want to tell you about" when selling a £40 game only works when your only other games aren't two PSN games. FromSoft at least had a good 15 years behind them and stuff like Armored Core & Enchanted Arms. There's accusations of Sean Murray being a bit Molyneux-esque, but he at least earned the right for folks to take him on his word since for all the shit he does at 22 Cans he's knocked out some classic stuff before then.

I think it's pretty mixed. On one hand it's kinda nice to hang around with a hard power, as much as we're sort of an "in" as a soft-power with many nations; commonwealth, Europe n such for you guys. On the other hand the Blair-Bush relationship sort of led to some pretty toxic results, which is why I think in his first few months Obama kinda distanced and snubbed UK a bit (which didn't set things off on a great foot which continues to this day). And yeah, Cameron is a bit naf so trying to appeal to UK through him would be a bad idea. I think in general we're keen on Obama at least. But obviously US is seen a bit extreme of late with the shootings n such, and Trump is kinda scary. Tories have power until 2020, though if it's Cameron all that time is to be seen, which'll line up with your next election I believe too so likely from 2020 will be a "renew" of that, otherwise over the next few years likely to be a distant. Especially if we leave EU. If you can pally with Merkel that's more sensible use of time. Especially as Tories are trying to befriend China which is a bit of a "uhhhh", alongside the whole "leaving the EU" thing.
