Iceland (it's a frozen food store in the UK, not just a country) has a bunch of "different" meats for sale such as ostrich burgers, kangaroo steaks, boar sausages etc. Anywho last night I had their venison burgers (which isn't as different as the above but baby steps). But yeah, really nice burger. Quite moist (unlike the side which I kinda overdid and was a bit dry) and unlike regular beef burgers made from mince which are quite ...brittle I guess. You bite off and it's clean bite; leaves a mouth shaped cut in the site. This however was almost like tuna in being sort of "flakes" so it was ...tough isn't quite the right word (especially when talking meat, it was far from tough) but held together quite well. Here's a picture (there's not many of been eaten into) that might give an idea of the "flakes". Anywho, really nice, pretty damn affordable* and I'm totally up for having it again in future. In a larger scope I'm dieting, competitive dieting with my siblings n dad which I'm now realising maybe isn't the best idea, so changed up a fair chunk of my diet. Still the occasional chocolate digestive for dipping in some tea but back on the wagon of calorie counting, more fruit n veg etc. I'd gotten kinda bad n lazy with some food. Also due to the budgeting thing I've cut back on buying sandwiches from the corner shop and making my own (most of the time). And big bonus of getting up early enough to have breakfast. Sometimes able to cycle a bit too. *turns out venison isn't dear.

Wait, as a person who has only done a bit of MGS4 and found that the complaints weren't hyperbole: I always thought the point of the MGS series was the gameplay was some of the best. And really pushed some of the limits with likes of resetting system clock, swapping controller inputs, etc. Though I haven't really heard of much of this on the newer consoles. But the storage was always grade-a mumbo jumbo garbage spread across a variety of non-chronological games that requires 2hr long youtube videos to try and "explain" it when apparently "nanomachines", or "parasites" will apparently do. But as I said that's from an outsiders viewpoint.

Lost In Translation It was meant to be on my list but my "list" was made off films on my computer or disc collection, forgot about Netflix. And they kinda hide the List stuff these days for some reason. Anyway, it was nice. Just a sort of gentle relaxing film with two people. Sorta balances against a lot of the other stuff I've watched of late. I think I'm gonna slow on the films for a while though. Might have gone a bit heavy, stick a TV show on or something.

So boss is a huge fan of Star Wars. Watched the originals in cinema n what not (I think he's said from some comp he did as a kid he got to see them early). Anywho, we're having a bit of back n forth on Friday about prequels, sequels, etc, n Indian colleague is just completely clueless to what's being said. So boss n I turned to him and have sorted out getting him the films, currently sat on his desk, with a suggestion of machete order. Now I knew he'd not seen the films, but he's completely clueless. This is gonna be great. So far quick queries have been - Is Jedi the green guy (explained that Jedi are a religion/warriors. Green guy is Yoda, head of the jedis) - Is Darth Vader the hero (explained he's the villain, he can see why) - Is it britsh or american film (explained it's a bit of both, even the new one is filmed in England, and a lot of the actors are british...though bad guys in the first films) Kinda explained it's a bit like Lord of the Rings in space, you've got Jedi are like wizards, you've got special swords, and princesses n such. Seemed he liked that explanation. Been talking about how in the west even if you've not seen it almost everyone is familiar with it. Everyone knows who Darth Vader is and generally considered the best bad guy in films n such. Heck, nearly everyone knows "I am your father". Star Wars isn't the worlds greatest film by far, but it's huge culturally in the west. To go in knowing nothing is night impossible in the west. I envy him.

I didn't play Unity cos the disk is bust. I'll have to return it, assuming I'm in the window of returns (I kinda got it a few weeks ago but FFX has taken longer than expected)

The film where they made a set specifically to allow them to delicately knock a newtons cradle with a robots fist, and this is after they're "cancelling the apocalypse". Spoof is kind of the wrong word, more a kind of love letter. How could you come away from that film and go "well that was a terrible way to spend 2 hours. I could have hoovered the car".

Well this is a first. I think the first time a spoiler has kinda ruined a film for me. I think when you think of film spoilers you think of The Usual Suspects like Rosebud and "I am your father" but I guess this is old enough to be a well known twist. I imagine the ending reveal would be more dramatic with knowing ahead of time. You can kinda see how they tried to build it up and such. Overall it's quite good, bit of "unreliable narrator". The guy telling the story is a known con man. My only thought is with going in knowing the twist and it feeling a bit poor due to that I'd guess that's more the films fault than the spoilers fault. I knew a lot about GoT before watching but still found it quite enjoyable. Interesting with this film is how many folks pop up nearly 20 years later. In the hospital with have Detective Gustav Fring chatting with Doctor Coulson (first name: Agent). Spacey has had a pretty lucrative film career over the years, though I think this was early on for him (yeah, Se7ven the same year and American Beauty a bit later and so on from there). Even had the Zed/Dorian as as a middle man guy...who kinda faded to nothingness. And despite only being a year between release made a Pulp Fiction reference. Yeah, an good film but kinda fails a bit if you know the twist.

By all accounts it's a cracking game, but yeah this isn't exactly a game doing stuff you figure you'd still be seeing still in 2015 At the very least subtlety is a thing they could learn. Kojima is 50 not 15 :/

Pacific Rim put you off?!?!?!

Oh the newer one with Scarlet Witch in. It's worth a watch I've never seen the older Japanese films but I'm to understand this is much closer to those compared to the 90's Broderick version. Japanese specially made a film to have their Godzilla kill off the American "Zilla". I believe it gets thrown into the Sydney Opera House.

They do 3-digit versions. So 3.4.6 would be: Version 3 of the software Update 4 of that, usually newer incremental features and such and 6 would be the bug n security fixes. It comes with a lot of new stuff like responsive design (rather than the hampered mobile theme), and for myself proper delta updates that work in the admin panel rather than having to download the latest, and update through filezilla n do a bunch of back n forth to run the update n what not. And a generally more shinier modern look. Oh and a new editor too which is rather nice to work with. Unfortunately some of the stuff we're all used to are hacks or plug-ins. Cos it's a new major version the plug-ins don't work. And I wouldn't know enough to be able to figure the hacks myself (e.g our frontpage has a status bar on the side. That to me is the big one, I figure much the same for everyone else.)

Pretty sure that's part of the point of a Turing test. If the decisions made were out of place the AI would fail the test because it would not seem human. I think we might have watched a different film. Anywho, as folks following me on Twitter might be aware I watched Godzilla last night. Good film. Though it did feel much longer than it was. There was a part I nearly pulled a major "hey now fucking stupid plothole" but they did explain which is: why if they know it trashed their powerplant did they keep the cocoon around for 15 years. Cos it's sucking up the radiation they explain later. Maybe a bit too later, but at least they covered it. Weird that they knew nuclear bombs didn't hurt but actually fed them, and yet figured they could just zap it with a bit of lightning n kill it. The sound in some of this is great for the monsters. Especially the atomic breath. I imagine it would have been a great film to hear in cinemas. The ending was really bad mind "King of the Monsters - Our Cities Saviour". Bleurgh.

Yeah its been like that for months now. I've no idea what's causing it or I'd have fixed it by now (I get it too, it's annoying). It is posting btw, as soon as you click "Post" or whatever it's usually done. The green dots is just like a mini-reload of the page to show the new content. Something just isn't triggering it right. You can just refresh manually for the much same result (though part of the mini-refresh is refreshing your cache for the page, which might not happen for all browsers natural refresh, so try shift+r) I could potentially update it some point this month though last I played with it locally, it'll mess a fair chunk up. Like this is a major overhaul, way more major than I figured parts would be. 4.1 is due in October so I'll give that a spin, some of the updates seem to bring back older functionality (a biggy btw being embedding HTML5 video)

Being John Malkovich It had some neat ideas, but I feel it didn't fully pull it off. Tbh I felt largely that apart from Cusack n Malkovich the acting was kind of poor throughout. There's some jokes n segments set up that never really carry through. Character motivations, especially Maxine, seem kind of poor. Quirky I guess, though I reckon if it was like...Terry Gilliam or something it might have being a bit quirkier n better for it.

So lets assume that I don't want to hunt down a PSP/PS3 game, buy it and then put 20 hours into playing it on the off chance it might let me understand final 10-15 minutes of a film mind filling me in?

Not long ago I used to think "how is daniel watching all these films", but now I'm sort of on a roll it's a bit easier than I thought it would be. Maybe he was some kind of robot, but would he go so far to test this theory as Domhnall Gleeson in Ex Machina? So I didn't go into this one knowing to much apart from it being about AI and maybe she goes crazy at some point. I thought it was pretty good film, some good suspense, especially the almost cabin fever CEO guy just being all over the place. I thought it delved quite well into the AI side of things; how would you act around them if they're imperceptible from humans, the small ways (like implanted knowledge) they might be different and so on. Oh and "if they're so good at being human, maybe I'm not human" part of it all, which was a good touch though not totally delved into as deeply. I'd say they wrapped that up a bit too quickly (and I had to look away at the razor stuff cos I'm squeamish like that). I figured about the servant fairly early on. Given how he treated her n remarks made, and well I guess cliche's too. I'll be honest the ending kind of lost me (oh apart from maybe the whole "lets hack all the phones voice n video feeds for emotional information" part Google are most likely doing a lot of the stuff this guy did in the film to make his AI. Maybe not the sex part.)

It's mainly for mopping the floor. Which gets kinda greasy given they cook a lot of thier food swimming in a bunch of vegetable oil.What does get me is other housemates mum brought over a steam mop thing (hours before the fateful party they dumped me at) which I believe doesn't need any bleach. Also we have some "flash with febreeze" cleaner stuff for the floor too, which we had to use a fair chunk of when we moved in cos the floor was grey not white (or grey not wood in the wooded sections). I don't think he's ever actually mopped in his life either, cos apart from bleaching when we had the "flash with febreeze" stuff there was pools of water all over the place when he was done. It eventually dried but it took hours (and now I look this morning it's not even a very good job. Not a huge surprise, they're the kind of people that just wipe dishes n put on drying rack rather than actually cleaning it. So much cutlery gets put back). Normally I do a bunch of cleaning over the weekends, but no I know he's in this mood while his parents are popping over (his brother is staying for several days too) I think I'll happily kick my feet back for the weekend and enjoy the ride.

Came home from work to a house stinking of bleach and surprised to see housemate on hands and knees scrubbing, right down to the cupboard handles. Figured it makes a nice change, wondered what might have sparked this, then I remember his family are coming over tomorrow so it's just a one off :/ I imagine the "I [penis drawing] you" will be wiped from the whiteboard too. The bleaching is a major shame, can't stand it and now the kitchen will stink for ages (it's 5pm, so kinda wanting to be prepping tea)

PIN works with the MS account. It's right under the "Password" setting. I use it myself since it's much quicker to bang 4 numbers in than my email password each time. As for Windows 10 overall. I'm using it at home pre-launch, and at work since launch. Overall pretty good. Bonus at work is being able to test Edge (yes I know you can VM specific for that purpose but the purpose isn't to use Edge, it's a bonus). The virtual desktops are quite neat at work since I can segment my tasks nice n easily (and a place I can run Facebook n what not in ). The search is completely broken at work, so gotta go through the program list all the time so that's kinda shitty (though I've most in quick launch). At home I guess I'm liking some of the apps (though majority are shit or just plain not there, which is poor form given it's not like the app store launched with Windows 10 but been around both in the beta and in Win 8). The Settings/Control Panel divide is still shitty, kinda hoping they'll sort that in an update some point. Still little bits of Windows 7 here n there like in explorer now n then (and Control Panel). The duplicated...but not duplicated, "Library" stuff in Explorer is super annoying cos there's a regedit you can do to remove the duplicates but they come back when it updates. Oh and back on the PIN stuff: There's no way to disable the lockscreen. Bot the tablet "swipe up" screen, which is the worst*, and as best I can tell no way to have the PC just boot right to desktop, no password needed. *They'd done so well removing the fucked up hybrid tablet-PC stuff plagueing Win8 and yet still have a "swipe up" lockscreen on a desktop OS. I don't have a touch screen.
