Yeah it was really well done, was worth watching the Director's Cut just for that scene. I think the theatrical release was already running over by a lot even with them slashing out Black Freighter, and I think the Hollis Mason story arc was the biggest one they could remove without crippling the film as a whole. Then just the little slashes on scenes here and there to trim down a few lines over the whole film. Fuck it would have been a bastard to edit.

Watchmen: Directors Cut So I had a hankering to watch Watchmen but I'd lent my copy out so ended up watching Directors Cut. Mostly the same, though some extra elements added with the main change being more Hollis Mason stuff (including death), though it's not the Black Freighter cut. Largely it's just extending some of the scenes that for the most part don't add much like the Hollis Mason stuff does. Was nice to watch it again and always nice to see where changes are made.

Yeah I'm kinda curious why they put NFC tech inside the Gamepad if they seemingly had no intention of using it for anything.

Pathfinder: The Adventure Card Game: Rise of the Runelords. It's sort of Munchkin meets D&D meets Sentinels of the Multiverse. It took a fair bit of set-up (since there's different piles of card types from Weapons to armour, spells, allies, items etc) and each character gets a different amount. Oh and each area (we had 3 people, so 5 zones) also has it's own amount of these cards it gets. Oh and each scenario has different zones too. But once you're set-up it's pretty easy to go through, you basically move between zones turning cards and either acquiring the "boon" you drew, or defeating the "bane", which can be regular monsters or the Villain or one of his Henchman you're aiming to defeat. Your character card gives you various powers to play, and you can level up as you play the game (much like a regular tabletop RPG), so the overall aim is to play many many rounds. So there's actual progression in the game (kinda like Risk Legacy but not as destructive). Your deck you start with is your health, cards are discarded (which can be "recharged", basically healing up) or banished, which means they go in the box to be lost forever (that scenario). You aim to build up cards that give you various spells or weapons that can be used on bad guys (by rolling various sided dice). You "close" the zones so that one by one the amount of places the Villain is hiding and, and can be hiding at since he'll jump if defeated while there's still other zones open) then eventually squash him. Our second scenario we actually found the villain right away through a prophecy power my housemate used. Which meant we all went to other zones to close those and defeat the villain in one swoop. While the game is good on it's own it was decided it was super good once I started narrating between turns (I think folks forget I do have GM experience, just not with them lot) making it "like proper pathfinder". Oh we also had cheapo Hobbit promotional statue/toys thingies too. I was Bofur since I played Harsk the Dwarf. Harsk the Dwarf is a ranger, which doesn't fit in my head, but my ability to shoot between zones on other folks turn (only d4 damage mind) was much appreciated by all.

Ballmer rejigged it. Xbox is now part of "Devices and Studios". Xbox was meant to put Microsoft in the living room, and over a decade in and it hasn't really managed that. They just ended up being completely blindsided by tablets in the living room space. Sony got their consoles working for them because they didn't do OSes and Productivity software, but music and movies. CD, DVD, and Blu-Ray.

@Revan: Over here you're only allowed to buy so much paracetamol at once, since it's pretty cheap (about 16p a pack...though I usually get ibuprofen which is about 30p) and available way of offing yourself. And paracetamol overdose is generally considered a not so great way to go. @Gerbil: I think the "more clued up" is ultimately due to the advertising thing. Which same goes for the alternatives, generally the same thing just different brands.

The whole branded drugs thing. Like Vecha talking about "Motrin" in the other thread. Turns out it's ibuprofen. Other day someone was talking about something (not on here) and turns out it was paracetamol. I'm to understand you guys have drugs advertised on TV too.

I think the SteamOS thinking might be due to the streaming being pushed as the only way to play Windows games on SteamOS. Shame it can't overcome the network stuff. Who would have thought that software could only do so much? Oh in other news apparently you can now get refunds on Steam pre-orders. One day you might not even need to get a refund on a pre-orders and Steam might not be so consumer hostile in that department. Yeah it's pretty fucking retarded, thing is unless I'm missing a gap in my memory this went from "this we might do" suggestion to suddenly being a thing that's being implemented. I can only think of it being there to score points in the Tory camp to gain the back benchers they pissed off by proposing same-sex marriage law. Hopefully it gets scrapped soon, it's terribly implemented idea. But hey, it's the Tories.

Yeah, it used to be part of "Entertainment and Devices" division, which was mainly kept around for Bing and Windows Phone. Since Ballmer's reshuffle of MS last year those are now in different divisions and Xbox is pretty much it's own section, quite ready for the new CEO to decide if they want to jettison Xbox as it's own company or keep it in house despite the money and logistics drain that provides fuck all for Microsoft as a whole. It's the only MS division that has intense competition due to stepping into a market with intention competition. From an MS perspective it's pretty much just a front for Bing (advertising, search and proto-assistant), and that can go through Nokia when they complete the merger.
