Anywho I wasn't replying to just you or I'd use quotes and not replying to the half a dozen or so replies between my last comment yesterday and my catch-up today. And it isn't a system seller, that's why it can't be sold at a loss. A loss leader is intended to sell something else. Such as a loss on a PS4 console to sell the games that come at a profit. Playstation Now isn't tied to anything that would make a profit on top, it's the service itself.

There's no reason to run it at a loss given they would have nothing to gain elsewhere on it. Consumer goodwill doesn't keep the lights on at Sony HQ. Given they've been running Playstation Plus for quite a while now the idea of "digital limited license games" shouldn't be too hard to sell to publishers. Heck they'd probably love the idea of us not even having the code anywhere near us. Gaikai already had the chats with many publishers already too so the groundwork is already there for licensing. As for the pricing, expect it to be not too much more than PS Plus/Netflix since those are a price point people are roughly happy with. Certainly not $15/month. Given the wording the model seems to be similar to OnLive. You buy/rent specific titles, or a streaming service that's probably going to be closer to PS Plus in that it'll be a few titles at a time to play. There's nearly 4,000 PS2 games. Running even a quarter of that library all at once will take a fair amount of beastly power. So rolling libraries are likely to be the norm for a while. Also if you don't believe this is part of this plan for domination this generation you must have missed the part where they splashed nearly $400m on buying Gaikai. That's not "yeah this'll be a fun little feature" money. Especially given infrastructure and further development on top of that (especially as Gaikai was built for PC games not PS1,PS2,PS3 and beyond).

Gotta say when I saw Stan Lee tweet about the new series airing the other day I was like "wait, this got renewed, and this fast? Man Disney really want to push this on everyone don't they?" I like the Marvel films, they're fun, good summer flick films. Agent's of SHIELD is one of the few shows I've just stopped watching midway through. I actually forgot about it for two weeks*, yet I'm diligently waiting on TPB for the latest Korras and such. It was just dull, there was no pull, the actors sucked. Coulson was a cool character in the films, but I think that all got pissed a way within a couple of episodes of AoS to the point his "death" in Avengers will mean less to the film. *I think we all did given the thread never had anyone post since that episode.

This is laughably incorrect. You do it from the desktop. That's all you have about it being objectively slower? That's an incredibly lame argument. Why wouldn't you want everything to be as fast as possible? This is also laughable. Why would you purposefully make Windows 8 take longer to boot up by changing the settings? It's not like you can do all of the changes that they used for the Windows 8 shutdown in Windows 7 if you want a fair comparison. It's 2014 and if you still think Windows 8 is a tablet OS then you have to admit that you are not a technologically inclined person. With Win-Right-Enter you don't need to be on the DEsktop, which depending on which part of Win8 you're in might not be so simple to get to either. Well if you're turning your PC off then you'll want it off. If you put your Windows 7 PC into Sleep too it's not going take too long to boot back up either. And if 9 seconds means much to you then you live a much busier life than most. Being marginally faster at boot isn't really worth the many man hours wasted that'll accrue from general use of the OS. But we've already had this discussion before. You love Windows 8 and a lot of folks just don't like it as a general purpose desktop OS due to the tablet orientated nature. Which to say it isn't a tablet orientated OS is to be quite ignorant to all the damned tablets coming out with it and the fact it's now being tied with Android which I'm pretty sure you don't see Win 7 being tied with Android. Don't tend to see Android on much other than phones or tablets either. The official flagship Windows 8 is the Surface tablet. It's a tablet oriented operating system. Built to deal with a general decline in PC and laptop sales and to try and make headway in the rise of tablet sales. On the gaming front it's ultimately hit and miss. Theoretically it should support all the games Windows 7 can play, in practice that's obviously not been the case. And DirectX 11.1 is as much as draw as the Vista exclusive DirectX 10 was. A new version of DirectX is only compelling to developers if 1. Microsoft are bank rolling them like Halo 2 2. There's a worthwhile user base to it and at the moment it's undeniably better to target the much much larger Windows 7 DirectX 11 user base. Also going "I don't think you've used it if you don't have a start menu" then going later "it has a start screen" you can't see at all why it's a confusing OS when you can't even maintain terminology within a couple of posts of each other. Or the confusing factor of the sudden rebranding of the UI when German trains waded in.

Alt+F4 works on previous windows too, it only works if you've alt+F4'd every other program first. Also if Windows 7 boot up is "insanely slow" you have major impatience issues. And if I remember correctly from cold boot it's not much slower, Windows 8 by default doesn't properly turn off as it thinks it's a tablet OS.

Oh so long start up time. Eons pass. Nations decay and fall into the ocean. I can only assume FDS hasn't been on any pre-Vista PC. Computers boot up shit tons faster than in the past, and that's without SSDs. Anywho, FDS is only jealous that a simple key-combo can power your PC down instead of win-c-down-down-enter-down-across-enter-up-enter-A-B-Select-Start

Atomsk won the race. It's pretty pointless and another one of Razers "this'll make PC gaming much better!" and it never leaves the factory floor. At the end of the day a regular PC is as modular as this if not more so due to the nature of being compatible with pretty much any off the shelf component and not just Razers own stuff. Of which I don't think Razer actually makes components anyway. Most folks tend to build their PC once, then after that they'll upgrade it many months if not years down the line and it's hardly like removing a GPU or RAM stick is a laboured endeavour. The expense and reduced functionality aren't worth it for saving all of a couple of minutes of swapping components out on a regular PC once in a blue moon. Oh as for the typo I was debating leaving it and changing the sub heading to "all chris, all the time". But adding in "mas" seemed better. I'll likely fix it some point in the future.

Well unless they superglued the RAM sticks in (and even then) you can likely change them out. But even then I don't know of many indie games that use more than 4GBs of RAM and I sure as hope Steam streaming doesn't use that much either. Edit: Also now that the full list of launch Steam Machines is out I can only assume Valve abso-fucking-lutely suck at working with hardware manufacturers, or that they're all purposefully taking Valve for a ride. Only two are below the $500 mark and most are $1000 and beyond (Tiki goes up to $6000). Several of them also rock Intel or AMD GPUs despite the OS not currently supporting those. So yeah, this is either a case of Valve being really sucky at communicating the concept of Steam Machines to hardware manufacturers, or hardware manufacturers being chuffed at legitimately being able to slap the dollar sign that is the Steam Piston logo on their computers and not giving a damn on anything else. edit2: I haven't a fucking clue what the hell Steam Machines and Steam OS are meant to do, to be, etc. As time passes and more things come out I become even more and more confused. Where's "Good Better and Best"? Wheres any of the game support? Where's the console like experience? They're just computers like any other but in garish cases with a piston printed on them.

Yeah the alienware is a nice case (compared to the others) Also any word on why the ibuypower one has a Pi in it? A Pi would theoretically make a decent Steam Machine client, but it won't run Steam OS. So unless Valve make some kind of API/SDK/whatnot it won't get too much use.

And now I understand the confusion of the previous page. Yeah, they're a bit like "Street Fighter Turbo" kinda dealy-o where instead of a patch/update because they didn't exist back then, they just made the game brand new. However it doesn't incorporate changes made in the NA/Jap editions (you'll note you guys don't have Dark Aeons and none of us had the Zodiac Job system) but changes they thought of while localising the games.

It probably should be mentioned that "International" releases only ever come out in Japan. In Europe FFX is just "Final Fantasy X" not "Final Fantasy X: International". It just happens to have a bunch of extra features that the various "International" games have and it makes it easier to differentiate from the regular FFX Japan and NA got. edit: Correction to prior post: Japan did get a FFX:International. Meaning NA is the only place that didn't get Dark Aeons, Expert Sphere Grid etc.
