http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-25249520 Mandela has died. Aged 95, so not bad going. Terrible end of year for his family mind.

  3. I didn't even need to pause, those were quite obvious. I'm not sure what they're for there, I think some of the implication is that this film is set some years after the first Amazing Spider-Man and after confrontations with other baddies. Apparently the trailer also gives a shot that's quite clearly "that gwen stacey moment" too, but guess we'll have to wait for the film to see if that'll be the case (it likely will be the case).
  4. Amazing Spider-man 2 trailer. Seems they're going to throw several enemies at him, which we all know went swimmingly for Spiderman 3.
  5. See I was jsut fine with Skype on speakerphone for our sessions on PS3 MP.
  6. But their Wii U isn't profitable, and when stacked against even a single phone model the 3DS sales pale, let alone against the combined might of iOS and Android phones. Then on top of the slow hardware sales, given their known terrible digital infrastructure is their VC even that booming? I've seen quite a few remarks of folks wary on downloading games cos if one thing goes wrong you've lost it all. That and it assumes there's a fair overlap between people who played Nintendo consoles in the day are on Wii U and 3DS, and not shifted to other platforms and/or own a smartphone.
  7. I'm not sure I'm explaining self very well. They have their Virtual Console right? Runs a bunch of their older games (and others). They make a Virtual Console app (heck just call it "Nintendo App" and release their virtual console games through it. I'm not saying "stop making 3DS games and put them and future games on smartphone" just their virtual console stuff. It's a bit half-hearted but even Sony have some of their back catalogue out on mobiles (heck they even made the Xperia Play, though Nintendo don't have to go that far). And they wouldn't have to be limited to iOS and Android, Windows Phone exists too and I'm sure Nintendo would be right at home there.
  8. I'm not sure if your first paragraph is sarcastically mocking Nintendo for being in the stone ages on the online/digital front or if you're genuinely unaware that smartphones have account systems.
  9. They sold a grand total of 21million Gamecubes, below the new comer Xbox (24m) and well below the 100million+ of the PS2 (ended at around 140m, but chunk of those quite a bit after Gamecubes time). They did pretty badly, and as we've discussed in the past it was just continuing the trend of sliding further and further in sales with each new generation. Wii is pretty much an anomaly for them, and their continued strengths have lied in the handheld space (though up until smartphones there wasn't really much of a competition their). As many articles have noted recently the Wii U in it's nearly year on the shelf was outsold by Xbox One and PS4 within a few days. They're doing abysmally at the moment and really need to turn the ship around. Still under a month 'til christmas, but at the moment it's looking like Nintendo is going to fail to hit sales and revenue targets.\ Nintendo have a massive back catalog of games. They're popular, and the only thing that's holding back from reflogging games of decades past is that they're tied to underperforming hardware. Plenty of developers have shown that these games run quite fine on phones (heck even Dolphin is getting ported to Android now and that's for GC/Wii titles) so all that's stopping Nintendo making money on it is Nintendo.
  10. Likely going to find Nintendo getting more and more pressure from investors to push their games out on other platforms (smartphones especially). And being a Gamecube is only not the end of the world if their 9th gen console is another Wii.

      Mr. GOH!

I'm assuming that Dean is powering his whole system and not just the GPU. His best bet is to spend a little more for a reliable 600 watt PSU just in case.

Slightly tweaked my above list. The MoBo is now in my hands. Had to swap some parts due to stock too, including the MSI 760 OC :/ (but for a EVGA 760 OC that's only £2 more)

  11. I wonder if they still do Seppuku these days. Could make for a very weird E3.
  12. Was amusing my younger sister with the mosquito sound stuff this weekend. She was fascinated that she could hear noises and my dad and step-mum all being "what noise?". Though it took a while until my dad actually could hear something (but not surprising given his years engineering).

    LGBT

Yeah there was a gay news site that (until they changed it due to complaints) had written it as "Tom Daley has come out, even if it's just as bisexual for now". In fact I'd say the stigma against bisexuals is strongest in gay communities over straight ones. If a girl is bi they're straight but looking for attention, if you're a bi guy then you're gay but not ready to admit it. Which as I've seen concluded on this observation: 'it assumes everyone is after the D".
  14. Yeah the logistics would be a bit of a nightmare but it all kind of makes sense. If most orders are relatively light, and it can be made to be somewhat affordable (though I doubt easily affordable, not yet) then why would folks have items sent through random distribution centres and relying on a post centre normally set up to deal with letters? It's like the Berlin Airlift, just with substantially less communism.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-25183041 Tom Daley has come out as Bi. Though a few folks are remarking that the "I like girls still" stuff is maybe to just stave off media shitstorm, if he's meant to be popular by being attractive to girls there's got to be an element of "I have a chance of dating him" to it, I guess. I'm not caring too much at this stage.
  16. http://forum.pressxordie.com/topic/487-what-gaming-systems-do-you-own/ Well according to this it's 4 PS4's to 0 Xbox Ones. Should be at least one Xbox One I think, to fit.
  17. Dammit. Saw the start of it in the title and figured it might be "to begin each speech with 'his right honourable gentlemen'"
  18. http://www.engadget.com/2013/12/01/amazon-prime-air-drones/ Amazon intend to roll out a system where by drones deliver your packages. Though it's a while off yet given they likely have to get airspace approval and probably work out how they'll make sure they won't accidentally kill someone, land at the wrong house, or end up in "the wrong neighbourhood". Then combined with amazon Prime 3D, get your products custom made from scratch and delivered within 60 minutes, coming 2020.
  19. Yeah it kinda pissed me off a bit, though less so since it's not the first housemate to ever do it (some of you with me on XBL might note some of my gamerscore doesn't really relate to the kind of games I'd play). The games he has played are GTAIV, which I've played to mostly near the end before now, just back when it wasn't with Trophies. ACIII, which I got bored of anyway. And Army of Two Two, which I'd not had any interest in (it's other housemates game anyway, police gave it to her with FIFA 09 when they recovered her PS3)
  20. I should add, since I noticed Vechas increasing messages, that if I don't accept friend invites is because usually I'm not on my PS3. I think it lists Netflix as a thing you're in maybe? If so, yeah that'd be my housemate. He's just devouring entire shows whole rarely coming up for air. I did get him to set up his own Profile the other day though, so hopefully he'll use that (since he's already beat two games on my profile )
  21. Amazon UK doesn't do PSN codes to my knowledge. We only just got the PC download store (And I'm pretty sure Amazon US only just got the PSN store). Given both Sony and Amazon operate separately in different nations I imagine it'll take a while to cross the pond. As for making platform agnostic wishlists: http://darkadia.com/member/deanbmmv/wishlist (though it's wholly platform agnostic, so you can't quite define which you'd like it on, but at least it's a wishlist you can add non-Steam games to) edit: It's also a platform/service agnostic way of finding out what games folks own, cos not every game I own on PC/multi-plat will pop up in the Steam Gift Checkout as me owning.
  22. The Wolverine also (about a week or so back now) I'd say the main flaw with it isn't hugely one of the film but how I watched it, which means none of the Japanese had any subtitles and I assume there was meant to be some cos there would sometimes be whole conversations. Other than that it was enjoyable. Not as terribad as Origins (which at least has a neat game) but still quite clearly further "Hugh Jackman as Wolverine" fodder.
  23. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spastic The thing is the controversy over Space Pirates And Zombies chosen name/initialism isn't exactly an unknown thing given the game is a couple years old.
