  1. HotHeart got me Gunpoint since I'd not played many 2013 games. But this is exactly the issue with our old system of GOTY in that most of us get current games at the end of the year, around the time we writing our GOTY articles. I had heard the game is good, and there's 1000 punch achievement, but not much else beyond that so it'll be a surprise.
  2. We can and frequently do (since you can get the "premier seating") if we know ahead of time who is going and who is paying, which since he's the most well of of us it tends to be him. However since we were going after work* not really the opportunity to sit down and book tickets is there? *though as we discovered he was actually off work that day making his lateness even worse.
  3. Bloody hell they needed to put something next to these for scale. I thought it was an alternate casing for the Daleks. It's a dalek assault craft, with daleks riding it. It's like 10 times bigger than it looks in the show. http://gfycat.com/EdiblePlayfulKiwi
  4. How beta are you and your friends if you don't just watch the movie without the person instead of it being canceled? Not sure how cinemas are in the US but over here when the cinema gets full, especially in the first week of opening on the cheapo night, you don't get to go in. But I guess a strong alpha male would have told the cinema workers to can it and waltzed in regardless. Right?
  5. So what are your lots picks for your favourite games from this year? Throw a few out, back-up your choices i.e not "GTA V, Bioshock Infinite, and Saint's Row IV" but something like "ACIV because it has the shops in and while it's called "Assassins Creed" I rather liked going around in my boat and playing as sailor instead and I hope more of Ubisofts Assassin Games incorporate sailing elements so I can stealthy kill someone with my prow" I'll put em together in a nice little voting form on Tuesday and winner of community GOTY will be one with the most votes. I'd start us off but the only game I've beaten from 2013 in 2013 is Bioshock Infinite.
  6. See I got called an asshole the other day for pointing out that one of the dudes invited along for Hobbit was massively late and thus meant none of us got to see it (I ended up watching it after work on Thursday). I've mulled it over in my mind a few times but still pretty sure he's the asshole in all this. It'd probably all be forgotten, given I still ended up watching Hobbit regardless, if not for him trying to call me the asshole. Only latest foot-in-mouth episode is I made a remark about a Christmas song that was playing along lines of "jesus ain't got no daddy" and turns out one of colleagues is quite religious. Didn't seem to take much offence to it. Kinda get a bit too used to being in a largely secular nation.
  7. Just to double check you guys still have the "soft delete" option. Might be "Hide" I think. Just been a few folks that edit to "wrong thread" but just leave post there.

So did you just delete my post, sexy? I hope so.

  8. Oooh, I've just noticed your Wii U ID. Hmm, another whovian eh?
  9. RED 2. It's Bruce Willis, John Malkovich and Helen Mirren, again! What's not to like. I notice this time they've added a fair few comic book art transitions I guess there was some feedback on the last not been known as a comic book movie so some of the comic book moments like Bruce Willis walking out of the car and Malkovich shooting the RPG were probably not quite so expected. Though this had substantially less moments like that. In fact I can only remember a repeat of the "Bruce Willis walks into a car" scene. Some elements were a bit Archer-esque as well, though no doubt both have their roots in other films and comics.
  10. Just like Nintendo themselves. Maybe there was something in the plastic they made the NES with?
  11. Aahhh. Oh wait now I look you did say you were my Secret Santa. How did I miss that bit. Guess it was the weird method of it all. Or maybe I did notice it at the time and since forgot, been a weird week for me. I've somehow managed to add several days to this week that didn't exist already.
  12. Caveman (not santa, that he's made me aware of) grabbed me Anno 2070.
  13. Dalek shot hit in the shoulder, he started regenerating but poured the rest of the energy into his hand (which grew up to become the meta-crisis doctor) while stopping himself from fully regenerating and just using the healing effect. It had been wondered if it counted as a full regeneration or not, since he didn't regenerate. Same with the War Doctor since that was a forced artificial one with the elixirs. But Xmas episode he was exceedingly explicit on his personal count of there being 11 doctors but using up his full 12 regeneration's. It has always been known more could be bestowed though since Master by Simmons time was on at least his third set.
  14. I've a feeling that US coverage of him might be a bit different given I've seem some Americans online that seem to be under the impression that Catholic church is as anti-science as some fundamentalist christian types and shocked to find that catholic church over it's history is actually quite pro-science and funded many scientists and findings over the centuries (then again some are shocked to find Catholic church is a wing of Christianity). It's just a bit awkward slow moving in reconciling modern science with catholic dogma, in olden days it's a bit easier to have the time to figure how Darwins findings work within your framework compared to the speed required to make choices on how your rules tie in with safe sex and AIDs. Francis in general has a somewhat down-to-earth and humble portrayal over the older bullet proof pope-mobile driving predecessor. Yeah still under the "homosexuality is a sin" that other denominations have, but at least he's joining some of the modern ones with the "well, homorelationships are okay I guess, just don't do the sex part" which is a reasonable half-way and is something Catholic church needed to cover with same-sex marriages quickly spreading throughout the world. Compared to past popes he seems a decent sort, but being tied to catholic and christian doctrine he is going to be inflexible in some points just like predecessors. Probably going to still shit in the woods.
  15. I thought it wrapped up a few ends quite well, though I guess if you'd not been paying too close attention then it'd be very confusing ( as it was to my aunt). The change was very sudden but I guess it gets it over an done with. Pretty sure he said "new set" too, so that gets around stuff for the next 50 years and means he doesn't even have to find Gallifrey to sort that one out. Settled a few debates regarding Meta-crisis doctor and War Doctor too.
  16. Well I got everything I wished for off Santa; A new big mug (I got two, and a smaller glass one) and Terry Pratchett's Raising Steam. Extra stuff includes the usual lynx giftset, chocolates, some socks, rum, selection of flavoured teas, Marvel colouring book, Gloom expansion, Fifth Element blu-ray, and some money which'll likely go towards clothes given it turns out I picked up a pair of jeans with a hole in the ankle to go home in.
  17. Merry Christmas y'all.

  18. Yeah the Ankh-Morpork one. I did notice a Witches game other day, though I'm not much of a Witches fan.
  19. Well housemates boyfriend is getting Firefly so I'm gonna pick up Discworld when I'm back. Picked up Oz Fluxx for Christmas period. Played with my sisters, youngest rather enjoys it and second youngest is unexpectedly devious. Also got first Xmas pressie other day from housemate, the explorers expansion for Gloom. She chose it since it's a bit like Dungeons for Munchkin. And it does play a bit like that, adds an extra element though sometimes we forget to change/enact current rules added by Explorer card.
  20. You know you're a day late right? He's not posting a demand, he's posted what I'd done "dean let me on chat".
  21. I only got you that the other day. Learn to pace yourself man. You'll never develop a healthy backlog that way.
  22. We had my dads NES, year day he borrowed a PS1 off a friend and that Christmas there was a PS1 under the tree. It had a much much better selection of racing games if memory serves which would have been the deciding factor for my dad. And the next Christmas our gran got us Harry Potter, our dad had already gotten that so we returned it for several other games including, erroneously, Final Fantasy IX (years later found out it was FFVII my mate had shown me play)
