  1. That's not a software limit, it's one i set up so folks don't ctazy (it's as big as it is at the moment due to thus poll). And there's plenty space can remove bunch of the legacy systems off the bat, then shift 6th gen into legacy.
  2. To be fair the whole pole needs a rejig. I'll do it later when I'm back home.
  3. Oh god why am I at work. I WANT A TOASTIE!!!

Aww fuck. I've got seeded bread at the moment. I'm gonna have to buy a new loaf to make toasties with.

  4. The toastie maker *cuts and *seals the toastie into two halves while cooking. Perfect for dipping in a pile of tomato sauce. Example here. Whereas a panini maker or cooking in a skillet/frying pan would have the sandwich whole and squished/unsquished and unsealed. Doing it in a pan would also require flipping it at some point, far too much work involved. *mostly. Depends how much you stuffed it and how cheap your toastie maker is.
  5. Grilled Cheese Sandwich ≈ Toastie. Bit more to it than just cheese (in fact cheese isn't always required).
  6. Toastie maker (makes toasties): Toaster (makes toast): Panini press (makes paninis):
  7. The end of days! according to Michele Bachmann http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/07/michele-bachmann-end-times_n_4060063.html
  8. I bought a toastie maker since they're on cheap with students coming to Uni. I am now a god amongst my housemates.
  9. Holla! edit: It's not even Halloween yet, so no talking of Xmas!
  10. Oh yeah I know it's not like HoMM. Though if it's kinda like Puzzle Quest that's good.
  11. You find me someone that can code PHP, I'll find you a status update counter. It's something that annoys me too, there's unfortunately no tool for it that I've found. I could field a query on the forum forum, but there's a major version number change coming soon so not sure anything that'd apply now might not break/be resolved in future. edit: There's the minor alternative of using the threads with the 1000+ word limit on them?
  12. So any plans and suggestions? It's a bit annoying it's a weekday this year or it'd be totally into it, but so far it's a bit up in the air. Currently best suggestion I've seen so far is: (Hotline Miami.) No doubt this year will see plenty of baldcaps and bags full of dyed sugar crystals.

I wouldn't mind getting into this some more. I know a couple folks have been playing and a few more with an interest.
  14. I picked up Sports Champions 2 as I'd kinda wanted the first for a while, but it's never seemed like a game to pay much for. Saw SC2 for £4 in HMV so snapped it up. Picked up Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes on Android for 60p. Heard good things about the game and I quite liked playing HoMM..III(I think) back in Uni.
  15. See we're watching safely from across the pond at the shutdown, bemused that such a thing could happen, but I'm pretty sure if the US debt ceiling isn't raised that'll be felt worldwide pretty fast.
  16. Yeah, but if they did? Also, do you really think nothing of their Nvidia deal? Nvidia has plenty to gain by giving them lower prices. Also they are making their own case so arguably they are a hardware manufacturer now. Then it would be going against their current philosophy of an upgradable PC, it would just be a console locked down and stuck in time for nearly a decade. "Steam Machine" is a PC, same as any put out by Dell, HP, Alienware, yourself. Just they've called it "Steam Machine" cos it's better marketing. Nvidia don't actually sell anything to the end consumer though, so Nvidia lowering prices on thier chips isn't going to do much except give EVGA, MSI, Gainward etc bigger profit margins. Nvidias involvement is exactly the same as it has been with game developers; optimising the software. In this case drivers for Linux since they're usually pretty abysmal. It even says in Nvidia's announcement that that's what they're doing. Designing thier own case puts them in the same class as SCE, Nintendo and Microsoft? Antec make their own cases, are they now a hardware manufacturer too? Pretty low bar of entry if you ask me. The specs on a case are shocking. Literally. Most of them only come with a PSU, you can't really do much with them.
  17. I thought the animation was a bit low quality, but figured it was just my mind overemphasising the vast difference between TLA and first series of TLoK. And yeah the writing behind Korra, the character, has been terrible. Thankfully there's Vacation Tenzin and Bolin n Eska to help support it, and the idea that the story might be going somewhere interesting even if Korra isn't.
  18. In what way am I being "difficult"? Computers are not free to put together, certainly not ones consisting of Core i7's and Nvidia Titans. These are, and I quote, "off-the-shelf PC parts". They're going to cost as much for Valve, for the consumer, for whoever, as much as off-the-shelf PC parts cost. Valve are not a hardware manufacturer, they are not building a console that is using a specific SOC, they're not ordering several million units in bulk with intention of a long term hardware plan. Steam Machines are built from regular ordinary Joe IBM compatible PC parts. The name "Steam Machine" doesn't change this. The fact it's Valve doesn't change this. The entire point of the Steam Universe is to have an Linux-based OS running on regular computer platform that folks are already using.

I guess you'd become disqualified by dying, or reverting to childhood? As for funding, like any social policy through taxes. From what I've read this isn't overly much in Swiss terms, ever so slightly below NMW.
  20. Yes, Valve have negated the wonders of market forces and created computers that are "free" containing parts that individually are hundreds of pounds each.
  21. They're giving away 300 computers for free, of course they're making a loss. And at 300 units you're only going to get marginal bulk buy rates. And they've equal clout on the software front. As it stands even Ouya have significantly greater hardware clout.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/10/04/us-swiss-pay-idUSBRE9930O620131004 Switzerland to be holding a referendum that will grant every adult a basic 2,500 franc basic income. Would be interesting. I've seen suggestions for similar in the UK, though it would be the basic benefits (~£224/$360 a month) mainly suggested with the aim to spur spending, and thus growth, and eliminate the cost of benefit fraud. If everyone gets it you can't defraud it. 2,500 Francs is quite a bit more (~£1719/$2756)
  23. It's still a PC, it's going to cost as much as buying PC parts, not the price of a custom built SOC with expected lifetime unit sales of 50million+ a console would have. Valve have impressive video game sales, this does not create some magical force field around them that gives them ungodly gifts. Especially in the hardware sector where, as many seem to forget, they've never entered in before.
  24. It's enjoyable show. There's a couple kinds to work out, but I imagine they've more than enough time to work out the on-screen chemistry between themselves. Samuel Jackson gives hope to brief cameos from some of the other guys too, as opposed to just random nods to other Avengers films.
