  1. If you're going to be staring at a screen for a long while tinted glasses are the shiz for helping with eye strain that can result. Though I've a feeling in long run it's a bad idea since you might end up playing for longer than should be, but if you'd be playing for a long time regardless then may as well mitigate any issues.

  3. Yeah I'd assume going from conventional gameplay progression (and I'm swearing I'v e written my thoughts on this down before now) that you'll start with basic hacking abilities, with more expanding as story progresses, be it gaining new codes or better phones or what not. And same happens with the enemies(assuming they're that) in upgrading security meaning basic hacks started the game with likely won't work in future. It's sort of "Uplink: The Open World Version"
  4. It's mainly covering the basics so far, things we largely knew. They do note that many of the main capabilities of it, such as the streaming and the speakers they're proud of, aren't best shown on a conference floor full of noise and wi-fi. The biggest issues I guess it's going to hit is potential price, and Nvidia aren't known for their low pricing. Also an issue of taking something built to play on a 17"+ screen and shrinking it down to 5". It seems being "retinal" that it does avoid some of the issues with reading and such.
  5. http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product/112508/TabletopDay-%5BBUNDLE%5D Bunch of free RPG PDFs as part of Tabletop Day. Dunno if they're much good, not too fussed to make an account to grab them. But if you're wanting a starter pack and want to try out a bunch of systems and campaigns for free then here's a good spot to start. Some of them aren't too shabby either, got D&D 4e in there for one. WotC like to keep hold tight of that baby. (obviously it's a case of "here's a bunch of free starters/demos, buy our books/products. But better deal than buying all the books and finding you don't like it.)
  6. You're citing a wiki. Also @Tenshi edit: And a Bioshock wallpaper someone threw up on reddit for those that want it.
  7. We started late (housemate suggested next time I say to start at 10AM, she's kind of bummed because it meant we missed out on some games, and didn't get to swap around as originally planned) Started the day with Rapidough, not quite strictly a boardgame but one of the few we had where many people could be involved at once. It's basically pictionary with play dough. Our team won even with our scoring handicap (had it halved, due to having three people on our team instead of 2) Moved onto a pirate game thingy, it's another "not quite in the spirit, but it's fun". Aim is to move around the board carrying a coin (first to get 5 coins wins) but after each turn the pirate skeleton pops out and randomly grabs a coin, if yours is taken you go back to the start. We did it first to two because Doctor Who was coming up. After Doctor Who we got into it proper. One group playing Lord of the Rings Risk (that'd be the one I played) and the other Ticket to Ride. My first time playing Risk, it takes a fair while to set-up and we also think we may have gotten some of the rules messed up a fair bit (the rulebook is a bit shitty and unclear on things, especially those related to the LotRs rules). Bonus is with LotR rules the game ends when the ring moves into Gondor (off the board, end of Fellowship of the Ring), so didn't drag on too long. Lewis left it (and Doom: The Boardgame) here so me n Erin might have another spin with it and divine the true rules. Then onto Cards Against Humanity. Due to it costing £28 as sold by them in the UK and not finding it in the local board game store opted to print our own, was relatively cheap to do, £4.50 of card/heavy paper but only needed half the pack. Was pretty fun, definitely a game that's better with a bit of alcohol we think. Some question/answers fall a bit flat, and we've decided in future might be best to remove some of the more american centric stuff (especially brands) from the pack. Probably replace with UK equivalents. Many times results are pretty damn hilarious though to balance out the "wut" moments. Shame on the last answers almost always universally sucking. Scooby Doo and the Phantom Chase was the next one. Aim is to get to the end of the game before the (motorised) phantom gets you, so it's rather rapid rolls and moves, gets a bit hectic. I opted to move out the way at this point. Cthulhu Fluxx: Wish we'd had this earlier on, we only ended up playing it because I spotted it on our table. Exceedingly simple to play given the rules are "draw one, play one". Of course until new rules and goals are added. I think I'd want to play it more to work out the gameplay to it though. As in beyond the obvious, so tactics on how to play things in right order or to your favour than just playing whatever and praying. My housemate and I technically won the day, even removing our "supplied munchies" points (bummed only one other brought food), but opted to let others be in the running for the prizes. Which consisted of three cheapo Easter eggs we'd randomly picked up in the morning. Was a good day, I think we'll be doing similar in the future. But more the case of "few of us have a free evening, let's play Risk/TTR/whatever" than many people and a full day of doing it. Mainly on those occasions it's Munchkin, so good to know we've variety. Definitely gonna see on doing it next year. edit: Forgot Zombie Dice, just noticed it on the scoreboard. Pretty neat game, and also highly scalable. Basically the aim is to get 13 brains. You have a selection of dice in varying colours which have Brain, Footsteps, and Shotgun markers on them. Depending on colour of dice gives the ratio of these on the dice (greens have more brains, red has more shotguns, amber is middling). You take three dice from the tumbler at a time and roll them, aiming to get brains. You continue drawing and rolling the dice until you have 13 brains, you've "banked" your current brains, or gotten three shotguns and thus lose all the brains that round. It's pretty fast and small game.
  8. Aye, nice to hear. Was one of those "if you don't at least get these two on board you've fucked up somewhere". Last nights episode pretty standard fare. Mainly a frame with which to have Clara re-introduced. And sets-up Richard E. Grant as a story arc villain which is nice to have. (I'd been trying to think why I thought he fit quite well in the Whoniverse, then I remembered he temporarily played The Doctor in Curse of Fatal Death). Few neat jokes here and there too, and a nod back to the first new episode Rose. A regular episode, par for the course with these set-up types.

  10. I've seen Tasker on sale, and it seems a neat app and the update seems to please people, but somewhat reluctant to support the developers assholeishness in making the price £=$=€ when Play perfectly supports currency conversions. 10cents = 10p I'm fine with, but a 50% mark-up of price can fuck right off.
  11. Tumblr works fine, want to hit me up with what you tried to link?
  12. And sorted. For whatever reason there seems to have been some HTML-ified characters thrown in ("amp;" where just a & was needed, and a "%22" too). Should work fine now.

    Ouya

360 pads have been part of the specification since Honeycomb. As you said, just need a USB OTG cable (or a device, like the Ouya, with a regular USB port).
  14. Ah, knew it on the weapons (or at least figured I did). Has been a while (years) since I played Bioshock, so wasn't quite confident enough to go "is it me or are the weapons more generic?". Incidentally this was brought to my attention. I'd only really seen the 2010 video, which was clearly scripted, this however seems to be pretty much proper gameplay. It's from E3 2011, so mid 2011, and a year before initial release. Nearly a year after this video is when the game got pushed back to the current 2013 window. Something clearly happened in early 2012 that took them back to the drawing board and rebuilding the game from the ground up. I think most striking is how the UI/HUD is so different to the original Bioshocks, but now looks and acts the exact same way as the first two. The levels were much larger here too, especially for the ziplines (which I've already commented on being a bit bummed there wasn't as much skyline fighting going on as trailers suggested). The story too, there's clearly audio assets re-used between this demo and the eventual game, so elements here n there. But Vox Populi are seen as much more oppressive as presented in released Infinite, And also how they're going to Comstock House for help from Comstock, as opposed . And the slight story element of her not being able to control her powers, which work fine in Infinite . It'll be interesting to see a "Bioshock Infinite: The Final Hours" on this game. It was clear in playing it that the original concept of Manifest Destiny/American Exceptionalism etc was dropped in favour of a religious and populist element and heavy focus on Elizabeth and her story. In seeing the video above it's clear that gameplay elements were also dropped in favour or a more comforting Bioshock 1/2 UI. The sound was pretty neat. As far as ending goes (oh I'm off for most of today so likely won't get a response to responses til tomorrow)

    Ouya

Sure, but something tells me it won't be needed except for replacement of a broken controller anyhow. Also it's Android, which supports bluetooth input, such as Sixaxis, and USB input, such as a 360 controller should those random splitscreen mobile games arise.
  16. Actually regarding that (p.s don't read til later)

    Ouya

PS3 and 360 controllers are also expensive.
  18. Ah yes. Undertow seemed relatively weak so I didn't use it much. Same with Bronco too, I guess for specifically going for the achievement they're pretty neat, but floating enemies doesn't do much in this game for you. It keeps them out the way, but so does Possession.
  19. Even on Normal I couldn't get Patriots on the back, and with them being shocked too. Has anyone managed to fling someone off Columbia? It's an achievement to do it to several people and I've not managed once. Same with fighting on the rails, nothing seemed to happen like in the 2010 video with the people coming at you on the rails, they just travel into the arena to battle you via the skyline.

    Ouya

GAME are selling Ouya for £99, aka $150. http://www.game.co.uk/en/ouya-console-215307 Now that it's going out to backers brief reviews are cropping up http://www.techradar.com/reviews/gaming/games-consoles/ouya-review-1141503/review Bit of a bummer about the controller using AA batteries. The Featured Channels sounds neat, it's not just popular stuff but things specifically curated for certain elements (retroness, good sound, game celebs picks etc) should keep it mixed up compared to the algorithmically sorted list you find out Play. It seems a PIN system could do with being sorted out, but it's something built into Android so once they decide to use a PIN system it'll be easy enough to implement. It launches in June proper if you're not a backer.
  21. Yeah possession sucks at first, but comes in pretty handy as you upgrade Vigors and get the Infusions. Except of course on enemies immune to them. Also the Patriots, it works on them but for a few seconds at best unlike regular enemies and turrets.
  22. http://www.tabletopday.com/ - One day left to organise bunch of mates together for fair bit of gaming. Raid a charity shop for games.

      P4: Gritty Reboot

Many great finds to be had at charity/thrift shops.

  23. We're doing well with the collection so far. Printed off Cards Against Humanity earlier so going to be cutting those up in a bit. Also have guests bringing games, so far looking at between 10-12 people which is a respectable amount.
