  1. The shooter is very likely still coming, it just won't be branded as "XCOM". Which yeah checking the Escapist link it also mentions the whole "it's now The Bureau" thing.
  2. I kind of assumed from it being Snyder and based on the original trailers it actually would be hobo sailor Superman (instead of journalist clark kent, which still seems to be off the cards).
  3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvDem5oyHXc So I started watching this again yesterday. It's certainly a different theme to the other series', but it works in it's own way.
  4. This should be good. Way more of a feel for it than previous trailers.
  5. I've not actively read it for years, and typically avoid reading it when linked. I also hear stuff of it mentioned now and then such as twitter or todays PAR article. Strangeloves post provides context to an earlier complaint I'd seen on twitter. Also turns out my housemates BF reads it now n then, suggested it during the PS4 announcement. "How would you know anything of Kotaku, I've never heard you mention reading it" *loads up Kotakuites Steam group* "Oh" As for her wanting to change it from the inside, she's never really struck me for that type. Certainly the type where if they're giving her money she'll gladly write for them, and she causes such controversy, and thus hits, I'm sure they're happy to keep paying her.
  6. Just to get this out the way: Yes, Brida, ex-member of this forum and it's predecessor, is Patricia Hernandez of Kotaku. Which is yes kinda funny because iirc she was the one that made this thread on the old forum.
  7. It has a unique style. It's also Unreal 2.5 as opposed to the (kinda aging now too) Unreal 3 Infinite (and many other 7th gen games) uses. Infinite also has a custom lighting solution too, which makes Infinite pretty pretty. The water however is pretty much the same. Age okay though. It's also got a shit ton more jump scares and tension than Infinite (which has..one).
  8. http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/04/15/the-witcher-3-will-have-36-different-end-states/ It's to have 36 endings. Though depends how that'll play out. Witcher 1 had 3 endings that were mainly different voice overs, Deus Ex Human Resources style, and Fallout does the whole slideshow thing.
  9. Very much the same here. Just its use is local (some might say darling, others love, dear, pet, etc) so figured it might not expand across the seas.
  10. Just a thought. In Blackadder americans get the awkwardness of Darlings name right? It just crossed my mind that Americans might not call people "darling". Though context within the show might highlight it.
  11. http://www.edge-online.com/features/listen-and-learn-michael-denny-on-five-years-of-planning-playstation-4/ It's not the greatest interview, but still worth a read.

    Sim City V

https://crest.ea.com/crestiwg/front.do I assume you can build a toothpaste factory or something. I don't really get this partnership compared to the Nissan Leaf one. (Incidentally should you get these codes don't redeem it for Sims Social, it was announced yesterday it's getting axed.) @Goh: Maxis haven't been making Sims games for Donkeys. The recent game, DLC, and expansions are the work of "Sims Studio".
  13. As in on your own machine, or paying for hosting like we did back in the day. If it's on your own machine, I can see it being a pain. But paid hosting is pretty simple.

the way to help depression awareness week is by making fun of it, calling it fat, and saying what we would do to their moms in explicit detail as we make them punch themselves

Federal & State tax returns are due on April 15th (US), so it's a perfect week for it.

  14. http://www.pointerpointer.com/ edit: And another one of those compilation videos I like to link, on Youtube not Vimeo this time. Ooohh. I was starting to feel bad at the start for not recognising any, but then Fifth Element popped up and the recognisable ones just started pouring in.
  15. http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/12/xcom-enemy-unknown-prototype-videos/ Bunch of videos of the prototype game.
  16. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lg4Oawl7TVQ Might disappear soon. Leaked footage of the game, about 20minutes worth. It's...well it's an MMO. They're clearly not pushing the boat out. It's somewhat HUDless though, like Skyrim, which is neat. The inventory UI is much better than Skyrim too (though as there's no console version).
  17. http://imgur.com/a/Z2F9Q#0 A bit of Lutece artwork, shame it's not overly high res but I get you might be able to dig some up. What be a bad idea?
  18. It's a good idea to follow GMG either on twitter or FB to keep up with their codes, it's rare to not have at least a 20% code floating around.
  19. Yeah it'd be the "only 75% of the way through". I've been playing with some IRL guys of late too, still yet to actually hit end game.
  20. Oooh, able to trade resources. Many times I've been "damn , I've so much food/production in this city, wish I could send it elsewhere. (I'm sure in older games you could send civilians from one city to another). Mainly like G&K the biggest change is making certain victories more viable. Shame I've yet to have a chance in MP to actually put the G&K stuff to use in a full game, should really make an SP scenario to play through.
  21. So this is guaranteed a spot in this weeks Top 40, if not on the #1 spot.
  22. Yeah it wouldn't surprise me if he is a DLC character Going back to the ABC Arts article I previously linked, which I've now read through. It's somewhat OTT but the general aim of the argument is fine and I can see why it was doing the rounds, certainly a good conversation starter. I think to a degree it can bee seen as a bad idea to include historical accounts into the game, things that Bioshock did well with covering the philosophies behind Rapture without needing any historical grounding. And it did have the aforementioned issue of bringing these elements up and then dropping them as it went "Nolanesque", the game is almost in two pretty distinct halves and plot elements to them. Also ZP review http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/7105-BioShock-Infinite
