  1. Yeah, the first trailer (from the australian network showing it) was a bit shit, but the Channel 4 one sold me a bit better on it. Stunning cast and initial reviews seem to be positive. I guess the alternative is watching/subjecting myself to InHumans. Oh shit still need to watch Humans S2.
  2. lol. I'm currently doing a rewatch of Arrested Development. It's still fun. Also latest Rick n Morty I'm unsure how I rate it up against Inter-dimensional cable. On-par I guess though the end with Summer certainly helped pick it up.
  3. So I figured I'd finally have a crack at "meal prep sunday" now I've a fairly clean and tidy kitchen and a fridge I can store stuff in without sharing space with rotting pork pies. This first run I've decided to be fairly simple, I've a few things that can cross over between heated meals and cold salads; so I've got chicken, boiled eggs, carrots (both as sticks and cooked), cauliflour (the same) n other bits n bobs. Oh n a chunk of rice. I made sure to "shock" all the veg I'd boiled too so they're mostly boiled and hopefully "sealed" as it were and won't just end up mushy when I microwave them at work. I'm thinking of expanding with pastas, maybe some stew (though I'm a bit wary on the liquid holding of these containers) and others down the line. Will see how it works out over this week (theoretically this is enough until wednesday since there's issues around keeping some foods for a while).
  4. So if you have 8hrs to spare then this is a thing for you. I'm not really keen on it, it's a pretty cinematic game for sure but you'd never expect anyone to go for an 8hr film (LotR was kinda pushing it at 3hrs) so I'd say if your aim to truly make a "movie" version of it rather than a "series" you'd need to be super brutal in your edits and remove a fair chunk of the cruft. Like jumping about and Nils pops up and he's purely side-quest fodder so can strip him out, makes me feel there's plenty other sidequests in there. There was a "Uncharted: The Movie" made a few years back and that's around 2hrs long which is a decent length.

    Apple

Apple only have the finger print sensor on the home button (where at this point I think most other manufacturers have put it on the back, where our fingers tend to be), but because they got rid of the home button they had to come up with some other biometric unlock method (and "put finger scanner on the back like other guys" didn't cross their mind). So yeah now you have the face unlock stuff which early previews all seem to imply is quite a bit slower.

    Apple

Apple: "Hey we've a phone that's all screen, though it means no physical buttons or fingerprint reader" Andy Rubin of Android/Essential: "Oh, I didn't know that was a limitation we were supposed to have" Apple: "But you can use your face as your password!" Samsung: "And?" Apple: "And you can wirelessly charge it! It's like magic" Everyone else: "No it's Qi and it's been a charging standard for years" Apple: It'll be the first consumer phone to cost $999 Samsung: Huh, you actually have us beat there.
  7. Huh. Could be interesting. I'd say given the cast we're looking at a comedy, but from a concept certainly sci-fi. Also the film my sis is hype for:
  8. http://www.starwars.com/news/j-j-abrams-to-write-and-direct-star-wars-episode-ix?cmp=smc|1069686719 JJ coming back for IX.
  9. Oh yeah, it's currently the 25th anniversary of Batman TAS Almost Got Him is a pretty dang fun episode. "I threw a rock at him!"
  10. I knew it was coming, but still pretty pleased.
  11. So I've occasionally over the past few months being fawning over DSLRs in PC World and such, but always holding off. Then today my boss goes and hands me one we've borrowed to go shoot pics for a client. And yeah
  12. Oh playing games with my siblings was great. Gran Turismo, the "Start" area in SMB 3, Timesplitters (loads of fun there), probably a bunch of others. But yeah these days much harder. My eldest brother also has a PS4, but trying to get him to like set a time he's up for gaming is a total PITA.
  13. So last weekend I got to crack out my second controller with my brother. First game we played was Rocket League since he's already into playing that with bots on the mornings while I'm still asleep. It's Rocket League. He kinda beat me first run: We played Starwhal which isn't the greatest game but was silly amounts of fun with quick short rounds and you can turn your tusk into a lightsaber so was a big hit with him. We also gave Helldivers a shot, which didn't entirely work out. And the most popular game was Broforce. Which made the most sense for brothers to play. He didn't fully understand who all the characters were, but he liked playing as Dredd (and he recognised BA Baracus). I think the main appeal for him with this was you only had a couple buttons and was all 2D so easy on the directions. We're up to mission 8, which I've no idea how well we're doing but I think we're at 25%).

not watch the video (am at work), but iirc from a teardown it was found it has all the function there for a headphone port...they just didn't put one in. The cynic in me would suggest it was just so they could sell folks their wireless headphones or their lightning adapters. And that cynic in me is probably correct.
  16. I've seen a lot of discussion on this, and the general consensus here is that the tutorial is fucked up. And likely you'll find the launch game will have a tweaked tutorial. That video was clearly not a case of "hurr durr doesn't even know how to use a controller", which you'd think from some reactions (especially IMC) was the case. Mike Bithell of Thomes Was Alone/Volume: And a thread from Tom Francis of Gunpoint/Heatsig (so you'll need to click through). I would say with others too that if you have some super high end gamer type as your game reviewer then your reviews are all going to end up shit since they'll smash through any obstacle; you'd never get a review discussing unnecessary difficulty spikes or complex controls etc. There's a lot of masturbatory "but games must be Souls-hard" type tweets going around too. If tutorials were simple things to shit out you wouldn't have all the essays written on how good the Mario and Half-Life/Portal tutorials are. (I will say that years n years n years ago iirc, I did rip into him in a review of Space Marine that claimed the design was a straight rip off from Gears of War. But that's nothing to do with gaming prowess and more to do with limited knowledge of britsh based wargaming franchises)
  17. I guess I have Rise of the Tomb Raider. Liked the earlier nu-tomb and been wanting the new one but it has held its price for a while. This combined with a money off voucher HIB gave me meant it was pretty dang cheap and hey at the end of the month I also get a bunch of extra stuff too.
  18. https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2017/09/04/pillars-of-eternity-tyranny-art/ A decent deep dive into replicating the old Baldurs Gate look using modern techniques with a team that haven't done an isometric RPG.
  19. Oh yeah Rick & Morty: So here's me on Monday night all "so there's no Game of Thrones today, but at least I can watch Rick & Morty". Only for Americans to think they're allowed some kind of holiday off making TV for a week. Like...what does "Labour" even mean to you guys. "sit around all day not doing any work". What the hell. I had to read a book!!
  20. Also a behind the scenes from PAX West
  21. So checking on the poll none of us saw the Olenna death coming, and a 50:50 on Littlefinger. Speaking of Olenna And seemingly doing the rounds:
