  1. I'm just amazed that the size of Westeros has been thrown out the window. Gendry had managed to do a fair bit of speed. Also I'm pretty sure that Sansa or similar mention that Jon has been gone for "weeks" which'd imply they're attempting some form of track of time, but the original time span for the early series' was over years. Anywho, trailer/preview of sorts for the finale Also a making of for the ice lake stuff. They filmed it in a quarry, which'd explain why it looked like an alien planet....
  2. None of the people involved have said that the Heston stuff is within the lifetime of these characters, they've said much as you said that they're generations out. We're only seeing the first (and second) generation here of the apes n humans. FLD is the only one who seems under the impression the films are lining up to bring in Heston-verse within 10 years of War.
  3. It seems The Defenders is getting a mixed reaction, mainly from the usual "weak villain" aspect but also with Iron Fist being in it which can't be helped I guess. (It's on my list to watch but not immediate) Anywho Punisher teaser:
  4. I've a feeling this could be okay, especially with those involved but it seems like it could do with a bit of extra production quality. (also Stan is the Australian distributor, it'll be on Channel 4 in UK and Amazon Prime elsewhere). Also Timothy Spall is looking thin :/
  5. Sudden change of plans I'll be having a Sunday roast with family this evening. Not sure when I'll be back. Next weekend I'm at my dads.
  6. @Atomsk88 It's not out in UK until next week, but I'll be aiming to go see it with my siblings. @TheMightyEthan @FLD The director has spoken of the names in the sense that there's a mythological element to them in the same way you have people called "joseph" and "isaac". This series still sees the "Planet of the Apes" as being an event generations and generations down the line.
  7. Maybe a Fire stick thing? (It's neither my Amazon account nor my Fire stick so maybe it's one of those "with ads" thing they do for the Kindles?)
  8. What's everyone's weekends looking like?
  9. I've a feeling that Rick & Morty has had a change in tone due the creators. I'm kind of liking it but I feel it steps onto ground already covered without really changing anything. Rick is abusive, yet shies from any confrontation he isn't in charge of and that hasn't really changed despite the fact his family are largely resenting him and he knows it. I guess the show is still quite creative, pickle rick sequences were quite different to anything I've seen before for sure. I would like to see a few more riffs on other genres/stories though (but less on the "hey it's a purge planet/mad max planet, like that movie" stuff). We've a Jerry episode coming up though which should hopefully shake things up a bit. I have been watching Preacher. Properly through Amazon Prime. Did you know Amazon Prime, despite being a paid for service, still has pre-run adverts on it? Well done to them. I am rather enjoying it, and Herr Starr is some top notch stuff. "Any questions?" "Do you validate parking?" Series has definitely found its feet and working much better now they're out of Annville and on their mission and got The Grail chasing them (I feel their resolution of Saint of Killers a bit too simple, but I guess a deus ex machina was probably needed since he's intor'd a bit too soon I think).
  10. When you say "original movie" are you talking the Charleton Heston one or the "original" in this trilogy with James Franco. Cos I think the Heston one is meant to be like a thousand years from now which provides plenty of times for apes to learn the systems and for nukes to not deteriorate too much to still make a fair bang if used. We know from Bad Ape that other apes have "evolved" due to the virus spread around the world, so assumedly there's plenty of other ape civilisations popping up and down the line it's not unreasonable (especially as there has been tension even within Caesars group) that apes would clash in some way. I do however think that War is the last of this run of Ape films. It makes a nice tidy trilogy.
  11. It's a shame that guy is likely not ironically quoting Brass Eye.
  12. There's nothing that'd stop the apes using nukes. The nukes already exist so they wouldn't need to learn how to build them, just to launch them and that's relatively simple to carry out. Plenty time between the near future death of humanity and the far flung future of ape rule to have a little ape world war or similar carry out.
  13. The worst thing than holding racist views is of course being called racist.
  14. It doesn't have USB support, which I feel is a bit of a missed opportunity. They mention that there's adaptors on the market and I feel one of their tiers could have been to bundle one in. Otherwise it's a pretty dang niche product (though seems to have done well in reaching it's goal).

    Hardware Porn

Man that's a beast of a case. Though I doubt I'd ever use it to its full potential given I don't need 112TB of storage. It is kind of interesting to compare the set-up they have for dealing with slow-mo footage with that of LinusTechTips and wanting to have 8K footage. This seems much more traditional beyond the cinestation (which is the big reason for his wanting to upgrade and set up 10Gbit connection).
  16. Remember: Hitler did not gain power in a violent coup, but through the democratic process. Then tore apart that democratic process, imprisoned or killed his political and journalistic enemies and headed on with his plans of purification. Also he was rather inspired by a lot of US activities, which in some form or another continued even after WWII (which US never entered on any ideological issue with fascism or they'd have been in years before). Hand over your heart these days, but still makes your goddamn skin crawl. Wouldn't surprise me if there's plenty of white supremacists and neo-nazis kicking about, though the Charlotesville certainly shows a shift in outwardly not even bothering to don Klan masks. Civil Rights movement only came to an end a bit over 50 years ago, plenty folks still alive today that were young men opposing the movement in the day. It's shit, and it's shit that the tools they like to use such as freedom of speech and assembly are tools they'd want to take away from others had they the chance. Traditionally we're unfortunately shown the main way to get rid of fascists and white supremacists is with a bullet. I feel/fear that education and lack thereof is probably a root issue. I guess in the decades since that the nazis are seen as just a video game enemy rather than a very real political party and paramilitary force that took power, used violence to intimidate opponents, and ultimately led to the death and extermination of tens of millions of people. Nor was Hitler some unknowable fairy land evil, nor did he work alone. He had Goring n Goebbels to hand along with many other aides that supported his cause and rise to power which is why folks like Bannon need to be watched. I see too many dismiss Trump as dumb, which he is, but he has those thoughts and ideals, and the power to hand. He's just dissolved two advisory councils today because the people within them weren't agreeing with him. There's been a clear disregard for the press as "fake news". I doubt that the ultimate evils of the nazi party will be replicated in 21st century America, but the...well "lesser" evils which were still events like night of long knives and broken glass, are quite within grasp of possibility. The inability to not immediately condemn open neo-nazis taking to march within the streets of the US is a rather troubling thing. Our PM is hardly any better, a fucking milquetoast response where she'd quicker take umbrage with a clock being silenced for repairs than her counter-part in US failing to condemn the rise of groups we fought together in the mid-20th century. And I wrote a bit and I guess this is why I usually just RT stuff on twitter, it's not really a platform for this kind of discussion. (jesus christ Twitter, just fucking ban Trump already).
  17. 40 years since Elvis passed so we filled in my half-day in the office with a playlist of his tunes. Certainly worse singers to listen to.
  18. I had a kind of aggressive one once, wanted to read the article so removed the blocker and it then dragged in ads n trackers from 45 different sources. Not some fly by night shifty site either, a relatively established site iirc. I understand the plight of sites wanting to make pennies but on the other hand not at my expense (in a "fucking up my PC" expense, as opposed to the monetary expense sense)
  19. Cos nerds Shame they could add the woosh, but not remove the metallic clang. Also in other news another GoT episode has leaked, making it 2 for 6 this series, though this time it was HBOs own cock up by launching it on their Spanish site early. As with the others the quality still leaves much to be desired but if you're fine with crappy rips then go ahead just don't spoil it here s'il vous plait.
  20. They're a bit of both, it's something the directors have spoken of in that in theory this run of films can run into the scenarios seen with the original film(s), though yes falls apart a bit with later PotA films. The first of the new run has a background mention of an astronaut being sent off into space. Obviously the most recent one covers the "humans not speaking", and also to a degree I believe one of the later films with the nukes. Though whether it's the humans or the apes who "blew it all up" is up to you decide (obviously it's heavily implied it's the humans, though in this run we know the humans never even really had a chance to use nukes so it's possible apes fuck up and manage to). It is a surprisingly solid trilogy. Some people seem to have grievance with James Franco but I thought he was good, the alzhiemers plot was touching with John Lithgow doing quite well there. When War hits disc I'll certainly be picking up the trilogy on BD.
  21. It's £18 over here, not really cheap enough to bite just yet.
  22. First game but prettier I guess? MP adds something new though. I should complete the first at some point.
