  1. http://steamalerts.com/ and/or http://www.wishlistnotifier.com/ Maybe of interest for those holding out on certain deals. edit: Deus Ex, always good: http://www.gamersgate.co.uk/games?prio=relevance&q=deusexweekend&aff=ggnews Skyrim is also on sale at Gamestop/Impulse.

  3. Yeah he does pretty much how WaS described it. Anywho, Shepard VI is fun. "We can take down anything if we just join together" Dean: Hmm, wonder what other boy scout lines it has. *hits spacebar* "Except the Reapers. Have you seen them? Those things are huge!!" Over-arcing story is a bit sucky but the dialogue within it is pretty damn sweet. I've a feeling that the Bioware writing room conversations went like so:
  4. http://www.greenmangaming.co.uk/games/strategy/sid-meiers-civilization-v/ Civ V for £5 http://store.steampowered.com/app/71270 Football Manager for 60% off, or 75% off if you're buying a copy for friends (if you already own it). It'd be nice to see more deals like that, even if I don't care much for FM specifically.
  5. "So it says 'add screenshtos of your app here', what shall we put?" "Why not put a Sims advert?" "Sounds good". http://i.imgur.com/NgMGa.png

That's EA for you. If I fire up NFS: Undercover on my phone, there's an EA logo button and if I press it, it shows me 15 other games they make - including Sims 3. If I don't press it, it doesn't interfere with popups or anything though.

      WTF

@TME yeah check out shows like HIMYM basically adverts on TV screens in the show, certain poster spaces etc - they're paid for advertising spots and companies pay a decent amount of money to get those ad spots. It's there in a fair few shows today.

      WTF

@Dean. It's incredibly shady but what I was saying is that I'm aware of it way too much. Back then when I was in advertising and financing I had a team whose main job was to look for spots where they could advertise other products (Even in commercials of existing products). It's not unusual at all. What I meant was, I've seen far too much shit in the world of advertising that nothing phases me anymore :P

    Sim City V

The Sim City DLC isn't post launch. It's actually pre-planned a whole year ahead. It's also a PC only title so not like it's a case of having to plan it out during development so as to have it come out alongside Sim City when the non-existent certification is done. COD isn't a model folks are massively keen on either so it's a bit of a crud comparison. Kinda like saying ...that Koby guy ain't so bad, Hitler killed more. It's kind of sad that it's only a Sims model or COD model viewpoint. No alternatives like releasing a complete game with a expansion down the line is even taken into account these days. Or free DLC and updates. It's nice to be able to buy a game and know that I didn't get screwed over because I didn't buy the game from the right retailer or order it at the right time. Also the expansion packs going for £30 a pop (the price of a full game on PC), add...pets or a bar. Even worse that I could more than likely go through the Sims 3 expansion packs and point out the same expansion packs in 1 n 2. (Bit like COD. cough cough). The DLC stuff is mostly just small items and skins, things that other games would run as mods or patch in for free. So yeah, DLC model in Sim City is going to be a major turn off if it's brought up to anywhere near the scale of Sims series.
  7. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OFlKkqVIDs (I'm sure not being in English doesn't hurt it) I hear there's an even bigger flair due within a few years. Also 5 years ago we weren't so reliant on stuff like GPS.
  8. I'm amazed we don't have the Dead Island music playing in his dreams
  9. What did you mean to quote? Bearing in mind this forum didn't even exist in August 2010.
  10. http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2010/08/russia_in_color_a_century_ago.html Some Russian dude took full colour high quality photos. In 1909. They're pretty damn awesome. The technique makes the water look like it has oil though.

Niiicccceee. Sort of steam-punk Gravity Gun/ASHPD hybrid
  12. Posted to Reddit as "ME3 isn't out here, just killing time in ME2" WRT Tuchunka:
  13. Her face was kind of a big build-up for the series. For Bioware to just cruddily photoshop some stock photo together kinda ruins it a bit*. Shows a lack of care in both their fandom and own story. I've a feeling Tali may have been the icing on the cake. The story of ME3 does play a bit fast n loose with the previous games lore. I guess in order to work around the multitudes of choices and outcomes they've ended up creating. *It's not just Tali either. There's a ton of very visible short cuts everywhere around the game. Especially sprites all over the citadel. Apparently by Bioware logic if you can't physically walk to an area, you can't see it thus they shouldn't put actual models around. This is in a location with glass everywhere and wide open areas and vistas. I'll take some screenshots next time I'm in the game. Yes sprites are used in many games, but normally in locations really far away, or that you're going to pass by really fast. Not things a few yards away in a location where you stroll around taking in all the sights n sounds. e.g not mine but one doing the rounds:

    Sim City V

I'm leaving thread as is, we all know what it's for. I'm liking the MP aspect, it'll be fun to share regions Zoning seems to be a bit less automated now, letting you build specific buildings and such which is neat. Curvy roads too, welcome to 10 years later eh My only issue is since Sim City 4 we've moved onto a world of DLC, and I can see this getting so. much. DLC. (Of which is already has some(British/French/German building set, evil/hero lair, and "Mystery Items exclusive to Origin"). A whole year before release . Sure it could be bundled in, but some accountant cocked up n gave them a separate budget and the law does clearly stipulate: Article 16b: Separate budget means it must be made as DLC and not bundled with the game at all.)
  15. Yeah the dragon age/terminus/collector armour stuff is all hard wired to certain settings and thus tends to be a bit crapper than the armour parts you find on the field.
  16. FPS/TPS/and or most action games, and most other genres I can think of actually. I guess maybe not old PS1 games that can't use the analogs (though that would still put your hand in a symmetrical form). Or menus of games too, though they account like 2% of game time (And still symmetrical)
  17. The overall body of the (wired) 360 pad is nice to hold sure. The layout kinda spoils it though. (And the tumor on the wireless version, both in cramping your fingers up and adding way too much weight) Seen here is the symmetry of the dualshock, matching the symmetry of my hands. Note how my thumbs sprout from the bottom of my hand. Note the awesome positioning of the 360 pad. Doesn't fuck with your thumbs one bit. No siree. I agree with Fuchi on the action buttons too, they're stupidly bulbous, get in the way of moving your thumb around them. If you fingers are slipping may I suggest keeping your hands grease free (Which given the smooth plastic of the 360 triggers will be just as much an issue, if not more so). (Sorry for image quality, had to sort of work around with using my netbooks webcam since I can't hold a controller and take photos at the same time with a normal camera. I'm also having to hold them upside-down, so maybe holding a bit tighter than I normally would so as not to drop them.)
  18. https://play.google.com/store/apps/collection/promotion_2012_03_06_AppsFavorites?feature=banner Bunch of Android apps for sale at 49p a pop. Mainly games. Mainly apps that don't run on my phone. Anyone able to vouch for SwiftKey?
  19. Well Dave Strife finished it last night at 21hours in. Which would put me about 2/3 of the way through the game. And at this point I only have 4 squad members. 2 from ME1 and 2 new. I've met with 4 ME2 guys, but only one joined my ship, and not as squad. Oh and one temporary addition to my squad from ME1. I've a feeling I get him back soonish. So yeah, feeling pretty short on squad members. 4 folks doesn't even cover all the classes, I kinda feel a bit nerfed actually, having to take my ME1 guys along to flesh out roles. New ME2 guys are either too weak/samey, or has jack shit useful powers. Also pretty short game. ME2 I had 47hrs on the clock, Daves time comes out half that and he's done a fair bunch of the side-missions too (Though 90% of side missions are fetch quests as part of the scanning thing, so not lasting too long beyond having to travel to places) Hmm.

I swear that one was debunked ages ago. Either way Nintendo have already announced their Wii U online service, and it wasn't named as Steam.

I play on a TV. Though I live alone, and it'd be a bit silly to purposefully split all my stuff apart between different rooms in this dinky flat.
  22. Bummer. You can add folks to your ships crew, but they don't stack. So if you end up with a story person joining you, it replaces any folk you may have recruited earlier on.
