ACII, the game, the canon, straight out says: Washington is a Templar and owns a piece of Eden. It's part of the Subject 16 stuff so I guess not everyone got that part of the game. That's why I'm suggesting he be a big bad Templar, because the game has already said he is. It's not an American thing. It's that it's 1. boring as hell a setting in a game series I'd rather liked up to now for hitting up some rather unique and under used locations. New York is numereo uno over-used location. 2. Up to now a lot of the media and info release on this is suggesting a bit of a 180 on past story, something I'm not keen on. See the gay thing in ME3. He spends two games straight and turns gay when the reapers come knocking. Washington is declared a Templar in the second game of the series, come ACIII you, an assassin, are now working for him. Better have good reasoning. It's kind of annoying that you're choosing to focus upon the american elements. It rather makes discussion a bit hostile from my view point, and I've a feeling if it was to go with a European setting again, maybe WWII as suggested above, and I was to complain of setting and perspective as been overused you wouldn't bat an eyelid.

Yeah the entire back story of Connor (native american and british heritage) really puts it at odds of been on the side of the colonials. Gonna have to do some story line magic there to put him on the opposite side. I wonder/hope if the trailer is a bit like how Mass Effect is marketed. i.e it's marketed as a shooter to appeal to a broader range than an RPG trailer would, and with AC3 it's marketed as a "you're a colonial, kill the red coats" style thing to appeal to the larger US market. I guess it's kinda hard to localise trailers given the global nature of these things these days. The talk of RDR elements are really tickling my boredom bone. Especially the traversal elements. Nothing like being a stealthy assassin blending into the plains on your horse. @WAS: It's nothing to do with any perceived hate of America. Yeah 360 pad is decent for shooters. But it starts n stops there. The PS3 works great for a wide range of genres(especially racers and RPGs), and once you plop some Real Triggers on much of the disadvantage with shooters disappears.

No, I don't know where Yante got the idea MS was involved. It was a PC/PS3 thing a la Portal 2, as you said. But they're wanting much more rapid updates than consoles can provide. (Those with TF2 probably have a good idea on how often they want to update)

They're identical for the most part up until you get to the CPU under the hood. X86 in a Windows PC and PowerPC in a console. It's a bit like men n women are pretty much the same "architecture" minus one has a todger and the other doesn't. It's that one small difference that changes everything. Yes consoles are closer to PC in nature than they used to be, but they're still not PCs. Given that Steams entire library is for Windows PCs I can't see them going with their own OS as some are thinking it might have. Some folks are even suggesting it'll be a streaming box like Onlive, except Steam have a content network, not a streaming network. They have lots of hard drives and bandwidth, not processing power. I just can't see Valve making anything that will directly compete with consoles because it will have to be a PC and with that comes the inherent cost of a PC. Yes you can make PCs that cost less than a console, but it'll be one hell of a shitty PC.

Yeah HTPC cases tend to use mini-ITX/micro-ATX boards which are a bit of a bugger for getting parts for. Certainly no high end GPUs. Or most CPUs either. Could try Lian-Li. What's bugging me is I've seen that case before, but a top isn't much to go on. Definitely a HTPC case though going by the scale of the components. Also "Portal 2 FAST" ain't much since as he said it's mobile nvidia. May run Portal 2, but running high-end PC titles is a no-no, certainly not for any long term either.
