I addressed neither of those situations because there weren't topics on the table, just the initial point of companies complaining that their content, not available in many territories in a legal fashion, is acquired illegally. If you're wanting to discuss the other two I'd meet up with Thursday hard n fast law, cos he's the one discussing those situations not me. (unless when you carry on saying "poor people" you're meaning brits again?) Cos other than that you've "given" me the point on content not being available in other territories which is all I was discussing.

It's also the nature of capitalism that poor people won't be able to access all the same luxury goods as rich people. These inequalities are built into the system. It's normal. Do you feel like this should not be the case? If so, what change(s) do you propose to the macroeconomic structure of competitive trade to ensure that all markets and all income brackets have equivalent access to all media? The UK isn't exactly rubbing shoulders with Zimbabwe in the economic charts. Neither is most of Europe (or quite frequently Canada too). And yet American corporations, such as Viacom, feel okay to live on both sides of the fence of both restricting content from these nations, while also wailing of how the evil international pirates leech off their creative works. It's a bit hypocritical and that's my main issue here. If they're not selling the content abroad anyway is there even any issues really? It's the age of the internet, the world wide web. Even if you don't want to extend your Hulu service abroad Youtube is already there with a global distribution network. All you need to do is strip out your country restrictions, the ad network is built in, so bobs your uncle. The change I would propose is to either start offering your content in a legal fashion, or stop fucking complaining people access your content through illegitimate ones. Just to reinforce for the various Americans who don't see this kind of thing often: It's not exactly a rare occurrence. Currently what happens is random site links a video on your channels site. "lol, look at Conans wall, it's a bit like Mario". Then the international users try to watch, get the "we don't like your country, fuck off" signs and moan a bit. Then friendly american rips the video from the legit site, and re-uploads region free on Youtube for the other few hundred million eyeballs to oggle at. If however the main site didn't have silly region locks, then the likelihood of the video ever ended up on youtube is massively decreased. (is it even worth noting that Viacom are one of the main companies involved with Hulu?) (btw I'm hoping those of you here with the line of thinking of respecting the content creators wishes better bloody well not be running adblock on this forum n blog) No one is demanding you pay anyone anything. I will however say that if you don't want to pay the price, don't consume the content. You're not a five year old, you should by now have learnt that you can't have everything you want. It's not that he doesn't want to pay the price, it's the fact that he can't.

When dropbox was installed did it make any default folders? When sharing from the public folder it should make a URL that looks like: dl.dropbox.com/u/RandomUserIDNumbers/yourphoto.jpg. You get it by right clicking the image then - dropbox - get public link.
-
Yeah that's for you, and yeah I think the naming scheme of default dropbox folders is silly. The readme doesn't even state that photos is for albums/galleries of images n public is for hotlinking.
-
For Dropbox you need to put it in Public if you're sharing it. /Photos/ is for galleries like my Wallpaper collection.
-
Even with more disposable income why should you go out of the way to get hold of their content legally if they make it such a pain to do so. They should come to you not the other way around. Also are we even certain on the legality of "region-free" players. Seems a bit wibbly-wobbly since it's circumventing the DRM on the disc.
-
I'd guess that's entirely up to the blog.

So this is a thing. It's not the first email like this either.

It's frustrating but what can you do? Pirate it. Same as always. Just seems silly to whine people offshore pirate your content but that's the only way to get at it. Only "legal" way to do it over here is buy an import, but folks aren't gonna bend over backwards to get region free players. As for RIAA and iTunes I'm unaware of any issue they ever had with each other but I know that the film & TV industry have taken issue with iTunes and it's general raping of the music industry. ps. : Just to note but apart from random clips, and many many more "not in your region" screens, I don't actualyl watch Colbert Report, it was just a handy example to bring up.

Battra are you actually following it at all or just coming up with stuff in your head? Right above your post is Dorli Rainey, 84 years old former teacher and mayoral candidate. She's not a college student. Retired Police Captain also protesting. There's also been Marines joining in (which means these folks also did as Frank Miller suggested) Given US also has something like 9-20% unemployment rate (the numbers can't decide) the chances of someone being unemployed at the protests is likely to be pretty high. But feel free to dismiss them.

Ubisoft have a "factory" studio in Montreal, so I wouldn't be surprised if they've got several Assassin Creed games on the go at once.

I've heard it sucks and the author carries on cocking about with the Kindle version. One slightly less obvious fantasy-ish series I've being following (since most of you know I'm a fan of the more obvious Pratchett) is the Three Worlds Cycle. I started with the second series (there's 2 quartets n a trilogy) cos there was a bunch of airport books (unless Florida has WHsmiths) left in the house we stayed at on holiday. It was pretty good read so I tracked down the rest, then found out there was 4 books before this lot and three books on their way. I say fantasy-ish because while there's magic n shit, it's more scientific explained. The fact that some are called Mathmancers n Geomancers should give a sense of how this works. As the "Three Worlds Cycle" should also give away, it's based on three planets, though most of the action is on Santhenaar. You can start with either the first series, or the second. There's a 200 year gap between them both and all you miss is a few references, but the third set is only 10 years later so quite heavily tied with the middle series. The first set is more fantasy based, the second part is where it gets a touch more scientific in it's explanation of how magic works. It also has a more grand sweeping story of war and "alien invasion". Another that I've mentioned before is Nightwatch series. Set primarily in Moscow following "The Others", slightly supernatural people maintaining a balance between light n dark (not good n evil, that's one thing I like is it's kinda heavily leaning upon the main characters questioning of the morals of what they're doing)

You can pick-pocket Briarhearts from Birarheart Forsworn. (and it kills them)

It's usually a 3-4 week period over Xmas. (so about 2 weeks before, 2 weeks after). I'm gonna guess that, given my purchase history, last year it started on the 13th.

It won't be automatically a click-able link because it's missing both a www. and a http:// on the start. The Dec 15th date might be a bit awkward purely because if people are looking to purchase on Steam that Dec 15th date is going to be extremely close to Xmas sales. Christmas sales for pretty much all services in fact.

Just to respond to part of that video Thursday linked: You are fucking retarded if you complain about piracy but provide no legal alternative.

Technically, stating an opinion shouldn't be listed as "a truth"

Of note: Getting games for free through a VPN = probably a bad idea. It's something Valve don't let you do (you can activate, sure, but not buy the games through VPN) and I'm sure Origin won't deviate far in that respect either. (Also I'm pretty sure it's illegal)
