  1. Though only in the US it seems, which is another strike I guess. I was kinda bummed to hear of this $5 sale and the URL to just resolve on the homepage. Oh and I'd recommend against Dino D-Day. I'd recommend Civ V though, I think I mentioned about it the other day if you scroll back through this thread. I'm unsure on Vampire Masquerade, I've never played it but I've heard it's good. Just unsure if I want to be adding more games to the pile.
  2. I looked at the post, you put a space in the URL. (btw what do you mean lesser known site?) Se this is what I don't get about Origin, why go out of their way to make this DD service, put in a friend system, add a store etc. Then have each game running it's own system? Blizzard went and retroactively updated WoW so it could use the new Battle.net whereas EA just seem to be doing jack all in making a unified service. So you'll have an EA account, Bioware Social account, battlelog account, FIFA Football Club account, etc.
  3. I could be wrong, but as far as I know, you're only required to use Origin if you actually buy TOR through it. Bioware even provided Origin with the smallest allotment of pre-order codes than any other retailer. Edit; Confirmed. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-06-16-ea-origin-not-compulsory-for-swtor Qouth the raven: 404
  4. Gave it another shot this morning. Pretty much every single server is full. Apparently. Even the ones with 23/32, or even 5/32. Full to the brim. Also got an email with like the "hey you're in stuff" Anywho: So I clicky the link. After regional gate, age gate then logging in*, it...shows me the game key I already got the other day. There is a survey on the battleog site, but as I've yet to be able to launch the game I can't really answer half the questions. *woot for no cookies ¬_¬
  5. (Apart from the facemesh thing the textures aren't half-bad, and while it's not as memorable, I still need to use the map fairly often, the city is one of the nicest in-game cities I've seen and it's a shame it's seemingly only going to be used on one game)
  6. Yeah Skype does Group chat. It's part of why Facebooks "You can do one on one Skype chat" thing was so underwhelming. Apart from the youtube trick using Skype meant they should have been able to exceed Hangout, never mind rub shoulders with it.
  7. Which R3? Was it the E3 where they showed the full CGI trailer by Blur Studios, or was it that other E3 where they once again showed a full CG trailer by Blur? That's part of my grievance with the game is they've made little effort in showing it off. If they're planning to launch within the next year they really should have spent a fair chunk of their E3 keynote to look at SWTOR instead of those non-celebrity American footballers. I'm just not realyl comfortable getting into a game that's spent most part of 3 years mainly pumping out CGI trailers that have little to do with the actual game. As for other issues, just generally reading from preview events on RPS n such it seems like it's a bit undeveloped and 5 years behind. Just WoW with a Star Wars layer of paint and a fancy new convo system. And no word yet on price/subscription plans (or that I've heard) and in a world of full bodied F2P MMOs, releasing a game that isn't WoW with a subscription attached is going to be hard. You need to offer something really special. Oh and EA being the guys behind Warhammer Online, and all the hype that had as the next WoW...well yeah that didn't quite work out. The recent Origin misgivings I think are just people grasping for something slightly more tangible than a gut feeling it's going to be bad and outdated. (Though the whole Limited edition digital goods stuff really didn't help peoples opinion of Origin)
  8. Who is shocked. I think the shock here is that they're able to slice of $80 from the price. Cos that's either pushing them into the their first time ever of selling at a loss, or they waaay over priced it.
  9. Youtube/vimeo/maybe a few others.
  10. No other company has had such a huge dip so close to launch. As rocky and others have pointed out if they can do this it means it's been running at close to $80 profit per unit at least. That's to abysmal. HOLY FUCK THAT WAS AWESOME!
  11. Their mouths are gross. Looks like this but with teeth Also Team Bondi and I have different thoughts on what counts as a "Chime"
  12. So when you say Alpha is feature complete does that mean that this whole "launch from a browser" and "only have a handful of graphic configuration" stuff is the complete feature set of the game?
  13. So anyone else tied their Twitter account to this?

  14. So in order to play BF3 alpha: You have to use Origin. Despite what has been said in the past you can't just use Origin as downloader then forget about it Launching the game launches your web browser which in turn is needed to actually launch the game You need to install a browser plug-in so you can do matchmaking from the browser. Something that wouldn't be needed if it skipped step 2 and just launched the effing game. Oh I was going to write this up after playing a few matches, but seeing as it's taking a while to find a match I thought I'd do it now. I also have no idea what will happen if I leave that page. Steam

I'm kinda waiting for when they do their planned move of Origin to Mobile, cos I bet you Mr Jobs will have in place pretty much the same, if not stricter, TOS in place on App Store sales too. There's other DD platforms on PC, but for iPhone it's Apples way or the highway. Apple have a pretty clear "you give us 30% of anything n everything" deal going on, and that includes in-app purchases (something many newspaper/book/other developers weren't happy of since it included subscriptions too). And they certainly wouldn't try this on consoles. (once again cos it's pretty much their way or the highway, you can't just go to Direct2Xbox for some less lenient TOS)
  16. So I have £20 in those temp Visa cards to spend. Suggestions welcome.

I could spend lots on Amazon UK but I doubt you'd want any of the things I'd suggest *eyes Wind in the Willows set*

    Steam

So Steam has pulled DA2 from the store the day before the DLC is out. Once again for the whole "not letting EA get close to their customers through selling them DLC" stuff. (EA want to sell the DLC themselves, not through Steam) I'm kinda mixed/confused on this cos: DA:O the DLC can be bought through Bioware store with Bioware Points (eurgh), and Steam doesn't sell any of the DLC. So why is it up on the store still? Is Steam really doing this cos EA is selling the DLC their own way, cos if so then it's kinda crappy on Steams part for forcing people to get the entire game through them (even if 95% of people would like it that way) Some stuff doesn't quite add up, but if it did then shame on Steam for not letting people have the option to use an alternative store to buy DLC. And shame on EA for being cocks and forcing people to buy the game in separate parts across different services.
  19. He handed out the coins, there were some Japanese people there huge fans of miyasaki. Wouldn't accept them since they're bad luck. (and a bunch of other stuff on how he made it, how much, his other stuff in previous years etc)
  20. Galleries(/photos) on Dropbox are for hosting the entire album of images. e.g https://www.dropbox.com/gallery/2066351/1/Wallpapers?h=e4302f You want Public for linking individual images/files.
