  1. Matthew Vaughn. Director of Stardust n Kick Ass. He's not bad.
  2. Thing is most aren't even comparable yet. As for the compelling feature I guess we'll see it when we see it.
  3. Just given the demo a whirl. The engine has certainly been polished up. Not sure how keen I am on the random beast thingies. Also the "Devourer" thingy was a bit of an easy boss fight. (maybe just cos we're now honed to know that the mouth/insides is the weak point of any shelled enemy) Kinda reminded me of the old one, not sure on the new VA though. Be nice to have a new town to cock about in. However I think I'll hold off until sometimes later down the line.
  4. I think he meant for the Dynamic theme that came out ages ago when they first showed up. The one with the Zebra or something?
  5. None of the cast of X-Men died though, so it'll never get that kind of recognition. And yeah I forgot to mention the camera work, very nifty. Very comic-bookey.

  7. There is currently no demo, because as of yet my plans for global domination haven't extended that far. Even a small micro-nation in Indonesia.
  8. Nah, this is when I was a kid. These days it's more what I do waiting for it to install. (since I'm more a PC guy these days)
  9. I never brought up Impulse cos it recently changed hands to Gamestop. So waiting to see what they do. Seems at the moment to be small changes like allowing Steamworks enabled games on.
  10. Thread will be locked in 4.5 hrs. Aka 12AM GMT. So make sure you've got your full 10 listed n shit. You can steal other peoples ideas if you're not the thinking n speculative type.
  11. So on the pricing (this is stuff on the front page) it's not doing too great. Where this link eastore.ea.com/ goes kinda gives away that "They do have EA Store already. Origin is so much more than that."...not really. It even has "Like EA Store on Facebook" in the corner. This is the Origin twitter account. The site layout is pretty much the exact same as the EA Store was and thus completely fucked unless you want to buy Sims, Battlefield or Need for Speed games cos that's still the only options given for browsing the store. I'd give comments on the client but as there's seemingly no way to download it and "Learn More" takes you to a forever loading page here http://www.origin.com/language which seems a mighty weird URL for a download of a client. I'm sorry if it seems I'm raggin too much but Steam has been around for 9 years now and no one in the entire fucking games industry, including guys as big as MS n EA, seem to have any fucking idea how to compete with it let alone surpass it. It's not like some of it's even that hard. They fuck up on simple stuff like charging 60 fucking quid for Bulletstorm. How to beat Steam: Match or beat it's prices. Steam is well known for their cheap games and frequent sales. Do things Steam doesn't. i.e Steams non-steam game support is pretty crappy and no Android/iOS Apps. Have a few free games on hand. I.e this, just don't put the points cards ahead of the game Have more than one publisher or service. Don't limit to EA games or only GFW certified games. Steam will accept most anything. Maybe get much more friendly with Indies. XBLIG but for PC. Steam is semi-friendly but still snubs many. When (re)launching your service don't fuck up. Regarding EA Store Origin and GFW they kinda fucked on that aspect now. At least match it in features: Infinite downloads, screens, social features, in-game etc. Probably a few other stuff too, but given EA n MS seem oblivious to half of the ones I put up I'm sure missing a few won't hurt. edit: The "Learn More" page has no finally loaded: So yeah it's just a service that's generally considered subpar changing it's name and calling itself a relaunch. Like a Dalmatian making a big fuss that it's now completely changing and calling itself a leopard. It's still white with black spots, howls at cars and humps your leg, but it's now calling itself Leopard. edit 2: Fucking formatting. Lets try n make the top bit work. edit 3: FFFFFUUUU edit4: Replaced with image instead. Also arranged games on price. Btw all the currently green games for Origin are on sale. They're all £35 normally.
  12. They do have EA Store already. Origin is so much more than that. Features will be announced at E3 (if not later today). EDIT: Or now... http://www.ea.com/ne...launches-origin Steam started off just being a patch tool for CS. It didn't take long before it was selling third party titles... And mobile phones started off as just being able to do Voice calls. If it wants to compete with Steam it needs to be more than Steam now, not Steam in 2004. And using it's doomed MMO isn't really a great bargaining chip to entice people to use it. If I want EA games then http://store.steampo...ectronic%20Arts. What is Origin going to offer on top of that? Unless it's significantly cheaper then there's not much point. And EADM isn't really an encouraging start. Step one would be making sure the service isn't running on EA's servers that currently seem to be crushed under the effort to display a single webpage I'm off out house hunting, let's see how well it runs when I'm back. @Cyber: Given it's said to be a PC focuse I'd guess it's multi-plat in the say way Steam was in 2010, Windows n Mac
  13. Don't they have the EA store already? It does kinda sound like they're just moving the EA store into client form. If they're making a client they need some good features on top of just selling games. Also maybe having more than EA games too. Which I can't see being too likely.
  14. Watched it last night. (well watched 98% of it. Fucking Tom turned up late so we/I missed the start. Some pretty good casting, some of the dialogue was a bit...forced. Like it was stuff they're meant to say but it just didn't seem to fit too well naturally. like Apart from that everything fit pretty well, was a decent origin story with some historical elements fitted in well enough. Oh and it had Michael Ironside in as Michael Ironside. I'm looking forward to a second, if they consider it.
  15. http://tay.gappoi.org/topic/1146-e3-predictions Final day (Also last day of the Hamilton giveaway)
  16. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=432242 Some info from OPM. Most of it you could kinda guess would be in, some new bits n bobs.
  17. It's not really true, but I thought it was a fun gif regardless (Anything 5th Element is cool by me)

    2. Mr. GOH!

      Mr. GOH!

Isn't it just the Witcher 2 for consoles announcement?

    3. Mr. GOH!

      Mr. GOH!

It's just the Witcher 2 for 360 announcement.

  20. So I played some of the preview. There's definitely a ton of bugs and it has 360 pad instructions everywhere (pretty much forcing me to use the 360 pad or test each of my buttons to see what it does) (one bug for example means that the subtitles on the in-game help videos are just random subtitles unrelated) It looks quite nice, though maybe a bit too crisp. The VA for the main dude is doing his best Keanu Reeves impression which just seems a tad crap. The controls however are a bit crappy, especially the whole stealth stuff. You have to hold or tap (A) to move around. This kinda fucks up a bit since it can be very slow moving around and quite often if you're spotted you're fucked cos you can't move around cover quick enough. Also at the start of the first main mission you get asked a few questions n such that kinda define your inventory, in my case I ended up with a silenced dart gun n 9 darts. I picked up a pistol too but no idea how to equip it, can't check the menu to see the control scheme. So when I was in a confrontation all I had was either a tranq gun or running up to them, hopping I survive n then punch them. Oh in your internal menu you also have a map which is kinda nice, lets you plan where you're going. It's decent, but they need to majorly revamp the stealth elements or going by Stealth as opposed to all out is the "hard" option if only because of wonky controls.

    Press X or Die

Just a minor PSA: Any new writers who don't have at least one article posted by end of June will be getting the kibosh. (that is a month that includes E3, and we have plenty of content up for review if folks want stuff to do) Anyone having difficulty logging in or such, not knowing where to start etc just hit me up with a message and I'll sort it ASAP.
  22. My ISP is well aware that PS Store is now back up

    Windows 8

The tablet market is there. The windows tablet market is maybe 3 or 4 units out there somewhere*. Touchscreen PC's aren't exactly common either (though this could push them, at the moment most of them are using HP's own skin instead) *And while we know Win8 will run on ARM (or at least they plan to, Vista was meant to run on MinWin n that never happened), we don't know how well it'll do that. WinPhone7 had minimum requirements that were considered high end at the time. This is a full OS. It'll attract a few devs, but given you can use your HTML5 n Javascript to make apps for every browser out there over just making it for Win8 I don't think it will be their primary platform in mind. Maybe just a case of porting it over at most. If you have the skills MS wants for this new overlay then you're currently a web developer making websites. If you're making programs for Windows then you're using C n all that shit and you're not using web languages, and you'll probably just stick to making your programs run on the traditional overlay. It's a catch 22. To lure developers the new overlay has to have lots of users. To get lots of users the new overlay needs to have lots of apps. Why use this overlay if you can use a browser and the main Windows to get access to millions of "apps".
