  1. I was a bit miffed to be told to download the Duty Calls thing, thinking "hey this might not be too bad" only to find out a minute after the 750MB download is done that someone had uploaded a video of the gameplay...all 4 minutes of it. WTH did they do to the game to make a 4 minute long game take up nearly 800MB. Also since I've seen the video there's no point really playing the game. what a fucking waste.
  2. Chrome will ask to import from multiple browsers when it installs, Firefox only offers to import from IE. Which means going into Chrome, manually exporting the bookmarks, then going into FF and manually importing the bookmarks there. And also re-jigging it all since it dumps them in an import folder. Wait... how come you said you disliked Chrome cos of Google tracking your every move, yet you use Google as your DNS provider. Doesn't that just negate everything, cos even if you only ever used Bing on IE, that shit still passes through google. Anyway, omnibar does everything Awesomebar does just with built in Google Instant support. (which is what I was trying to remember last time) and if you don't want it to be google just change the default engine (which it also asks you for at set-up, unlike Firefox which just auto dumps you on Google(though that may not be upto them). Oh and also by default includes a bunch of irrelevant search engines which I guess is just part of the adware stuff paying for it) Also on restarterless add-ons why does FF even have a distinction. Chrome n Opera you install stuff n it's ready to go. Firefox is all "I'm pretending to be an Operating System and will require you shut me down and restart before this button you just added decides to work. We take our stuff on 'the web as a platform' seriously." As for funding all I have upto now is Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia....ation#Financing and: http://www.pcpro.co....n-googles-hands Google have Mozilla by the balls. 88%? That's fucking huge. Of course the question is do Google have more to gain from being the defacto search engine of the 2nd most popular browser on the net, or from the potential gain of gobbling up IE and Firefox marketshare by just taking FF out the equation. Bearing in mind it really really goes against their motto. There is no way you could get away with not being painted the villain in that. Poor old small open source registered charity Mozilla, being fucked over by corporate giant google. So I think on the moral side of things they'll keep funding them, but financially it may make more sense to just drive out Mozilla. Though competition is always good and after having appetizers from IE they'll no doubt go after Mozilla the good old fashioned way. Not like with Android n ChromeOS they'll much need Mozilla anyway. When theey started funding them it made sense. Google was just a search provider, but now they have their own browser, OS(es), TV stuff, they've got their stuff engrained into it all. Mozilla are old fashioned way of doing things.
  3. No, I'm not into the whole vanity thing. Just check mostly for bed hair n that's about it. The person below me has never left their country.

Oh, and in other tropical parts of the world too. My research group has also be following the tree octopus migration to the northern hemisphere, and it's picking up like wildfire here in California. Oh, and the death rate went up too so go figure.

That fake website is classic. Too bad the red-ringed madrona sucker is extinct, it would make a great pet.

The internet has a very lucrative business in trolling people.

Apparently, they're not going bankrupt anytime soon.

  5. Yeah I've only done about 4 of the levels. Hardly scratched it.

  7. Okay, edited the poll. I don't know many folks who use more than one browser other than to test one for a short while. Maybe the beta has updated the fix the refreshing thing, but it was damn annoying back when it did. btw you know the basis of TACO was made by a googler right? I personally don't mind cookies n such. I'm one of several billion internet users. I find it a tad egocentric that all these companies might be looking specifically at them. It's generated by some computer in a warehouse, thats the only thing that sees it, some AMD chip out there had a giggle at of the fact you regularly search for pink pony statues. Opera I've dabbled in, but it's got some interesting ideas it's just a bit too different. Doesn't mesh too well with other browsers either (which I've noticed when re-installing Win 7 other week neither does FF, you'd think after several years they'd at least acknowledge that IE isn't the only browser, so had to fuck about a bit to get bookmarks onto Firefox from chrome. Obviously with Chrome I just signed in) I've not played with Opera 11 yet though. Oh and Safari is shit, worse than IE, and that takes effort. IE hasn't been too bad actually with the latest versions. What little amount of browsing I've had to do on them has been okay. And Bing isn't too bad either. Oh yeah Firefox automatically guessing what you wanted when you type a word in and taking you to that site: Good in theory, real timesaver. Annoying in practice. Like Chromes much more, giving you a selection of potential sites in the process (as well as Bookmarks) that you can pick from. Actually talking of Firefox, doesn't Googles contract with Mozilla end now? Are they renewing it at all, cos that's one way to get browser market share, just stop funding your competition Obviously when Chrome launched it was brought up but I don't think anyone gave a definite word just the contract lasted to 2011.
  8. I may as well drag this away from Excels status updates I'm a Chrome user. Started off on IE when I was a wee innocent child, hopped onto Firefox not long before it's version 2 release. Chrome came out and even in Beta I instantly swapped. Interface was clean, nice, the browser ran much snappier, it also meant since I was only chrome user on the home PC I had my own Browser for a while. Also as a dual screen user it's the best browser for that. Firefox attempted to add tab tearing/snapping, but kinda fucked up which means it refreshes the whole page each time you do it, and it's never as smooth. Kinda sucks when you've got a streaming playing in your tab. So what browser do you use? (I guess the poll is more for you than us since we actually do know what browsers you use tut tu at the Safari users) Oh yeah on my Android I also use Dolphin Mini. It's still in Beta, but much nicer than Dolphin HD which I was using before. Not tried FF on Android yet though. Not too sure there's much point.
  9. Well would you know what I was meaning if I said "2s" or "1s"? While the term may of arrived with Xbox, you have to admit it's a pretty easy name to use in refrence to those 2 buttons.
  10. Press Shots show it's only got 2 rear back panels, but R2 n L2 may be the same triggers as R3 n L3 on Dualshocks (the push button under thumbsticks) This thing can do all the games the PSP can, everything the iPhone/Androids can, and something neither of those can. The lack of proper triggers n bumpers does limit it in respect to direct ports from console though. However They'll probably do some kind of jerry rig like that had on PSP playing PS1 games. Maybe touchpad left n right to emulate pulling the trigger?
  11. Yeah, a Demons Souls 2 would need to be PS3 exclusive. Same as Insomniacs Multi-plat game won't be Ratchet n Clank related. I'm sure Sony would rub them too much regarding the similarities between Demons Souls n Dark Souls.
  12. P2P? So I take that as a yes then on whether or not multi-plat would affect it . (XBL is a P2P network, PSN can run both P2P n dedicated)
  13. Wait what part of that was PS3 games, all looked NGP to me. The PS3 ports where certainly not up to par with their PS3 counterparts for sure. Also my first time watching that video and I'm happy to see them showing off all the inputs, while I fear with some devs it may get muddy in trying to cram in controls for everything, it really does open up whats possible. VR games, that ball/hill game with the touchpad, head tracking with front camera for pseudo-3D. It's going to be a very exciting and interesting device for devs to play about with and really experiment with their games.
  14. My only fear is that with it going multi-plat it'll lose it's rather unique use of online/multiplayer with the notes, the blood splats, folks invading other peoples worlds. As far as I know it's a PSN only trick, been a few devs mention the API (I dunno the name of it but it's generally "the demon souls API", so I have a feeling it's the first time it was used). I think it's what The Journey is going to be using too. But yeah I've never heard of XBL having similar, so I don't know if in Dark Souls we'll have that feature removed, or if it'll be a PSN only thing. I guess we'll have to wait on news of that. Also I love how everyone corrects the titles grammar. It's called Demons Souls
  15. Whether they were or not(no doubt you'll whip out something showing folks pirated books) the tape shaped skull and crossbones has become the symbol of piracy: Which we have another thread for... edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Home_Taping_Is_Killing_Music there we go. I knew it was used officially somewhere. But yeah, got turned on its head n used by the pirates instead.
  16. The tune that plays is pretty catchy.
  17. the keyword? that's not on anymore. I believe I'll of mentioned that on twitter (also if it was still on I'd be tweeting about it too) Just be wary, they have a bit of a vendetta against me, and by extension this place and anyone who mentions it. So if you care for stars n such I'd keep on the low down.
  18. Find me someone who thinks 60million is a terrible figure. It's only a year older than the 360 and sold 10 million more. (about 10million a year, same pace as the 360) It's only "terrible" when you put it up against the DS. But that's like putting me up against Paul strugess n calling me short. Also the image is for piracy.....
  19. You do know of the Slowtaku nickname right? While every now n then they'll be on the dot, they are quite frequently pretty slow on the news. And even more often than not these days, as I mentioned at bottom of previous page Page 7, missing some news stories altogether. I won't miss kotaku when it flips the switch, but I will miss some of the commenters. Especially if most of them leave and theres no way to track some of em down. (which would be part of the reason of this place, commenters without the need of any particular gaming site)
  20. Oooh sounds good., I'm available Friday onwards.
  21. You have loaded up Joystiq lately right? It's on a big huge banner right at the top The Android is the newest one, I grabbed it this morning, not bad.
  22. From the way the others went we'll know it's changed cos it'll have an article up saying it has and how awesome the change is etc etc.
  23. http://www.rockpaper...imum-specs-out/ * Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon 64 X2 2GHz or better * Nvidia 8800 GT or higher * 2 GB RAM* Windows XP/Vista/7 * 9 GB free hard disk space * Internet connection and for comparison from Steam I bring you: Supported OS: Windows XP or Windows Vista*** Processor: 2.8 GHz or faster (XP) or 3.2 GHz or faster* (Vista) Memory: 1.0 GB RAM (XP) or 1.5 GB RAM (Vista) Graphics: 256 MB** DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (included) Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible Hard Drive: 12GB Minimum specs for both though. But that's not much of a leap, so since the Recomended Secs for Crysis are as such: Supported OS: Windows XP or Windows Vista Processor: Intel Core 2 DUO @ 2.2GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Memory: 2.0 GB RAM Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS/640 or similar I think it's safe to assume only a minor leap here too. It is coming out for consoles after all, which is where I think most the engine work went. Only an evolutionary change, optimising, etc on PC end. CE3 is just CE2 with console support and a few DX11 tweaks on top. edit: well that was fucking weird. none of this was formatted when I started. edit 2: And fixed.
