  1. http://kotaku.com/ta...editorialboard/ , http://talkamongstyo...kotaku-f32.html or Game Journalists Are Incompetent Fuckwits We're not strictly a kotaku board anymore and I think by now most of us know each others opinions on the matter so there wasn't really much point. You're free to carry on, but I'm not sure how many will join in.
  2. They're going to make many times the cost of the game anyway. A few thousand on making some extra quests isn't going to be a huge dint that can only be recouped by charging separately for it. If it's release day that's on the disc, then even worse. Why put it in the disc but not in the game? You've technically already paid for it, it's content that's on the disc you just put cash down, but some of it's held at ransom until you pay for an unlock code. lolwut. With pretty much any DLC you could remove huge amounts of the game before it's "incomplete". Fallout 3 could just be about 10 quests long, with everything else as DLC. The main game is still in place, the main storyline from start to end. But all the possible side-missions are not. If it was developed and missed been added to the game due to it been sent off to stamping then just put it up for free Shale style. There's potentially so many things that could of "missed the deadlines. Woops", that it's not really a reason to charge extra for it not been in the game. "Hey guys we fucked up and didn't finish this on time. But it's yours if you give us $5".
  3. We all suck. It's why we play them together
  4. If it's the match I remember, you weren't in. the other team consisted of 3 french folk and an irish dude (his username suggested he was irish at least)
  5. You're assuming they'd put it in though. In the past, if they had a new awesome idea, either they'd put it in the main game or they'd just be like "we don't have the budget, so we can't do it" and not put it in at all. Now stuff that might have fallen in to that category they can release as launch DLC, charge separate for it, and so be able to include it. But they are developing it, they clearly have the budget to make that idea a reality. Does it require the developer to say "yeah we're totally cashing on on this" to convince you? No dev's going to admit to that. They've got the ideas during development, they have the funding to make it a reality, they have the framework to add it right into the game. However rather than doing they, they're selling it as a separate component.
  6. If there's no decent ones by the time my GI issue comes, I'll post them up. Awesome. And yeah dragon ownership would be cool. Unsure on the flying though.
  7. I feel uncomfortable when that's happening nearby cos you can't exactly do much. Buuuut I will point out sometimes it's totally the child's fault. Terrible Twos, Troublesome Threes, Fffffour. Also as long as the child isn't an absolute sugar filled brat I'm usually pretty good with them. Make em laugh, amuse them, keep them deceived from the fact their parents are now absent. Also pushing them around in a pram is cool. As long as it's outside. Prams are not built for shopping. Oh n the whole waste disposal thing, I don't deal with that.
  8. Well I can understand preferring DLC over the SF type stuff, but I was using the SF stuff as an example in post-release additions.
  9. What is 'developed separately'? Different studio? what? All elements of a game are made separately. Then at the end brought together in one clump. Especially modular titles like DA where the quests are made separately then tied onto the main framework. If DA2 was made last gen and they had ideas for extra quests, characters etc for the game during production of the game, they'd put them in. It's only now that they can sell snippets of the game ontop of the price of the main game that this kind of stuff is happening. If it's something that after the game is released they're "Oh wait this would be awesome to add" then previous gens they'd be buggered or make 'Super Street fighter alpha ex'(is that one?) or FFX International Edition. Now they can release it post-release DLC. But stuff made during production has no excuse.
  10. Well Red Gyrados is the only one I ever came across then. Also why 'shiny' when they're not very 'shiny'. Why not 'Palette Pokemon' to reference it being a palette swap?
  11. Is that now retroactively a 'shiny' pokemon? Anyway I thought 'shinies' are like random chance things. Red Gyrados is specific part of the story. Nothing random about him. He's just a red Gyrados instead of blue. I remember it took my tons of tries to capture that dude. And no I didn't realise you were 24.
  12. You know how I said I've not had a dream for a while. Well that changed this afternoon (I've recently taken to naps during the day which has massively helped with my nightly sleeping. Just 1hr or so). Also it was kind of long, I guess to make up for the absence. Anyway I'm in the audience for some TV show. Seems sort of who wants to be a millionaire style. There with my mum. The contestant on however is this evil substitute teacher (not one I know, though. I just know she's a substitute teacher), who I'm pretty sure I had a dream with the other day about her. Basically she can kind of hypnotise people of a sorts, and she's trying to take over the world. Also some people are immune to it. Also she may be alien I'm unsure. probably. Anyway while on the show she does her hypnotise thing and the audience all kind of zone out n start chanting. I duck cos I know she like blasts people who are immune. Which there was a guy near by in the audience who yeah was a bit confused why everyone else was chanting. So she blasted him. So I dash along the audience seating to an exit to the back end of the TV studio, running around what could of been miles of unmarked maze like empty corridors til I end up in a sort of county hall sort of place. Everything is like varnished mahogany. There's a public swimming pool n changing rooms in here too for some reason, also all decked out in varnished mahogany. It was a very classy public swimming baths. Anyway I'm all kind of confused a bit as I realise I started in a TV studio and ended up here when I wake up. In my own room. But it's ever so slightly different. The bed isn't my bed and I have a old fashioned CRT TV in the corner. Not my bedding either. iirc it was all my grandmas doing, so for some reason I go to my grandmas. I start walking n poof I'm at my grandmas. And I'm getting to a bit that made me uncomfortable so I'm gonna stop here for now. Need to get back to work anyway I'll maybe update. I'll maybe not. Depends how I feel.
  13. See most folks apart from separate budget n such also go with separate time frame. If it's made during the games production there's absolutely no reason to not include it. Unless it's lazy cashing in. (Or one of those shop exclusive things which I've recently found out are generally shop enforced so most studios make shitty things that appease the shop but don't do anything to the game)
  14. I thought you're only 19? And nah I'm pretty sure 'shiny pokemon' is a new thing. Well GBA onwards at the very least, though I've only come across the term in the DS years.
  15. Anyone got any links to some decent scans of GI's Skyrim stuff? Most scans floating about atm look like they were taken with scanners from the 90s.
  16. Only 5? - Terry Pratchetts Discworld series - Ian Irvines 3 Worlds Trilogy/Quadrology - Douglas Adams H2G2 Trilogy - Lord of the Rings/Hobbit - Darwin Awards There that's a list of 5.
  17. iirc you can have it so audio comes through the headset too I think (Though most headsets are just the one ear piece so not recommended) I personally play with sound from TV for the game, n just the voices on the headset. If it was a full proper headset (or I could use my PC one) I'd play it just through the headset, but I like at the very least stereo sound when gaming.
  18. Cotton Candy = Candy Floss
  19. Yeah I was surprised at the British stuff in it. Someone should of told me sooner!
  20. - Those French kids need a schooling (Quick! To the Unchartedmobile!)

      HotChops

I accepted the fact that most kids won't connect with classic games years ago. I'm looking forward to meeting the few youth that will love gaming enough to study its history.

  21. See I feel like an old man with all this talk of 'shiny pokemon' n stuff these days.
  22. Yeah I still have it and I quite enjoy it.
  23. Ah crap Sintel. Still yet to watch that. Tutor hammered on about back when it first came out. Another film made in the same vien (so an OSS movie) is Elephants Dream. Very weird. Both films are made with free software, Blender n the like. Practically no budget.
  24. - Pretty crazy.

Holy crap! That water looks like the local nuclear power plant dumped its waste in it! O_O

@brain: I would feel the same way if it was blue. I've always found blue liquids to look incredibly tasty. Unfortunately for me, they are also very often highly toxic.
