  1. Timesplitters does local multiplayer. I guess maybe not the best example. Well ME2's project $10/Cerberus thing. It's not MP but come several years time you'd be fucked getting access to it. They're already starting to disable bits of it. It's something that kind of fucks over with all DLC though so maybe it's a bit of a stickler, but when with most of EA's stuff it's things they've taken out so that the new buyer gets the whole game n the used buyer is missing a chunk it kind of sucks more than regular DLC.
  2. If a package is sent by car it's Shipping If a package is sent via ship its Cargo
  3. I've done the check boxes but heres the list: Own: PC PS3 DS PSP Android (I've mentioned often enough it's hardly something you buy for gaming so I guess I won't push that you've missed it off the list) Access to: PS2 360 Wii NES Gamecube Xbox my other PC
  4. Ubisofts DRM scheme, though recently lightened a little bit, was massively over reacting. Especially since it could only ever be detrimental to legal owners. A pirated copy could play issue free regardless of the state of Ubisofts servers. EA's Project Ten Dollar is kind of okay. If you're buying new theres no cost, if you're buying used, well sort of tough luck to you if you'retrying to save a skimpy £3. However in the future it will provide many issues since just as we'd maybe be out on the hunt for an old copy of say Timesplitters, you'd be bummed if you couldn't access the MP section when you got it cos it's a Project $10 thing and the stores now obsolete. Them charging for online pass with the EA Sports titles is pretty shitty. On one hand EA run their own MP servers so every right to charge even new buyers. Buuut people already pay for XBL, and EA's server support is even worse than MS's so it's kinda shitty you'd charge $10 for what's potentially only going to be 18months of online MP access.
  5. Yeah we had me Heartless n Hootie the other day so we just did the Co-Op missions.
  6. Yeah dudes some proper spoilers pls. If you want a 'hate on wow' thread go ahead n make one.
  7. Oh as the future consoles are more than likely fucked in favour of PC's. So firstly before I say this: I'm speaking about the back end. If you wish discuss the service/microconsole in-depth then make a thread for it. Onlive is ran on PC.s But it's a console experience. You get your dinky device hook it up to the TV, pretty much issue free. It's in a closed environment, no control panels n regedit to scare folks away. It uses control pads or kb/m. But on the back-end, the thing running the games is PCs (Well servers running VM's to be precise). Should, and the model more than likely will, this take off you're going to find that people can get their 'cheap' console experience, but running PC games. So as more folks move to this more developers make PC games to take advantage of Onlive & co. Which means more PC games n support for PC for the folks who make and/or run their own home PC's. Of course that could have the detrimental effect of making it the land of publishers again. As for the cost building issues: 1. Computers come in costs ranging from a few hundred to tens of thousands. If you don't want to play Crysis 2 across 6 screens with settings to the max, then you don't need to buy a high-end PC that'll do all that. If you just want to play some simple indie games, or go through some old titles, or just casual things, then things as cheap n small as a nettop would do you dandy and most of those are on par with a console. 2. You don't have to build a PC. It's just a highly recommend thing to do. Both because it's much cheaper, and it's also a sort of right of passage thing that makes your PC yours. It's like Jedi making their lightsabers. It's also not too hard. Things only tend to go in the slot they're designed for, and for the most part just ignore most the numbers n gibberish. Come on TV's and such are even worse and most people manage to buy those without making a fuss.
  8. First of all I'll point out you make spoilers by clicking the 'other styles' box up top then typing in the spoiler. Or write the spoiler out, select the text, then click spoiler in the drop down list. Mentioning the game you're playing then post the spoiler. No restrictions on what to post, can be a game that came out years back, can be one that came out just yesterday. Which does start to challenge the will of people who want to click the 'show spoiler' on every post So post spoilers, fun, silly or things you just want to get out there. Assassins Creed 2 FFIX
  9. Yeah go on. It looks flash based, which I don't think many of us play and there's billions of them.
  10. Damn completely forgot to reply to this As I said on the other thread, PC gaming is doing very well for it and I'm sure there's many people who'd love to be this dead. It is however not a huge a money pot for many publishers* as the consoles are. So I can see why they'd go to 'greener' pastures. It has however left huge gaps for the indies to come in (which btw Valve is indie, indie doesn't just mean small developer) and they're really taking advantage of the land pretty much devoid of publisher influence. They're messing about with game ideas, genres, distribution models, business models. It's a pretty exciting time. It's like when VG first started n you had young harry making his game in his bedroom after school n selling it by post on the adverts in a gaming bag. Everything is a bubbling pit of ideas n freedom. It's cheap enough that you don't have to confirm to what the marketing stats tell you, you can take a risk n win big. Minecraft, whether you like the game or not, is something to be marvelled at. It's something that would never happen on console. The lone dev, out on his own, making a quirky game with very retro-like graphics, releasing and charging for an alpha game, no advertising budget, it's a disaster waiting to happen for a console game. But on PC he's made €800K and rising and set up his own game studio. Oh n then theres this: RPS list of 2011 PC games Not complete, but you can't help but salivate at the line up. *Activision gets 70% of it's income from PC. You ever heard Bobby Kotick say a bad ting about PC gaming? He's slagged off XBL, threatened to leave PS3. But he knows PC is his honeypot.
  11. See if there's folks I'm not bothered with. I just delete them. I do have quite a few on twitter where the 'interesting' rule comes in to place. Not interesting, then I ain't following. Of course had I done similar on Facebook I'd no doubt get shit for unfriending my brother
  12. I may of posted this elsewhere but worth putting here too.
  13. First one dragged on a bit too much, the second one was pretty good though. I'll have to show em to my housemate. (Who would be the big firelfy fan here, he's the one who got me started on em)
  14. Hah. I've seen that spider one before somewhere. (The 3rd or 4th comic)
  15. Okay bear with me on this one. Doctor Who is freaky enough it makes even real life things in the real world all timey wimey. David Tennant, who played the 10th doctor, is marrying Georgia Moffet, daughter of Peter Davison who played the 5th Doctor (cricket one with celery), who also played a clone of tennant's Doctor. So yeah the 10th doctor is marrying a clone of himself who is in real life the daughter of his older self. tl;dr: It goes ding when theres stuff. Also it'll boil an egg at 50 metres.
  16. Except the title differentiates from the 2010 list, and means people won't go post a list of all the games they've beat. Point of the thread is when you beat a game from 5 days ago onward for 364 days you pop in here n do a swagger n declare how you just totally destroyed Barbie Princess Pony Stable
  17. I've got my mum on facebook. You've got to keep an eye on them these days, you just don't know what they might get up to. I did get a parental block, but despite the name...
  18. Yeah we built a few steam too, but I'd definitely say it's origins aren't American. Primarily the idea was tossed about Europe with a bit of Russia/china in there for a hundred years or so.
  19. I guess Smooves never noticed that after requesting a trailer the Trailer thread popped up in new content?
  20. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXHhnT1tHNM For Smooves
  21. I had to go to explainXKCD to get the final joke Twas good one without it though. Always nice to see a touch of colour too.
  22. Yeah that's not even trying to hide what it is
