Seems it's Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition, coming out this summer. Pretty cool, but now I'm kinda regretting getting the GOG version a few weeks ago...

  2. That would probably make him more popular. YouTube sensation!
  3. You're right. Let's get BioWare and EA to pitch in $5-10 million, force BioWare to take a break from their latest project, and set to work on "fixing" the last 10-20 minutes of the game. They probably won't make any of that back, because half of the fans that are complaining won't even buy it. It'll take months, and the ending probably won't even be that great. It will have been a waste for everyone involved, and an unnecessary financial strain on EA/BioWare. But they'll get the love of the fans, and last I checked, love is absolutely a currency that can be cashed in for food on the table, college educations and rent.
  4. PSA: Donating to Child's Play does not make your "Retake Mass Effect" group any less scummy. And it certainly doesn't make your actions invincible from criticism. In fact, I think it's rather despicable to try and use charity as a shield.

I'm with Ethan, 624 and Waldorf. Seeing this completely from the sidelines, having not even seen ME3 in motion, the antagonism certainly seems to be coming primarily from those that don't want anything changed or added. It reminds me of the different times when I wasn't happy with something and I got called entitled/whiny/ungrateful. When did voicing dissatisfaction as a consumer become a dirty thing? As for the integrity of the art and the scumminess of using a charity for an age...

PS. This could make for an interesting roundtable if focused.

and this is why I refused to get hyped for ME3. I saw the shitty conclusion coming from a mile away.

      Foresight, bitches. I gots it.

  5. Watched the entire run of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood with Dee and Johnny. What an incredible show! I immediately rushed to Amazon to find it on Blu-Ray, but the box set of the first 3 series is arriving late April, and there doesn't seem to be a box set that collects all 5. Oh well, I'll try and grab it sometime in the future.
  6. Got into the CS:GO beta (courtesy of Dean). Glance at the clock and it's already 2:40 AM. Well played, Valve.

  7. Windows 8 has a Compatibility Troubleshooter where it scans your .exe and determines the version of Windows it should emulate. This is now my favorite Windows ever, since it works like a charm.
  8. Pay it no mind. It's the latest Invisible Children scam.

Christians; "Great, now we can turn Palestine into a Christian nation!" Jews; "Fuck off, Christians."
  10. XCOM: Enemy Unknown is looking pretty dang snazzy.

I've never played any of the XCOM games but this looks fun. It's been a while since I played a TRPG.

I'm really excited about this one, and yeah, it was awesome to finally see it in action. I really like what I saw. The original X-Com is one of those games that looks like a lot of fun but I can't bring myself to try and figure out because of how dated it is. Keep in mind, I'm usually not too bothered by older graphics, so it's not just that. It just feels... unintuitive. Seems like getting to a point where I would be able to properly enjoy it would just require too much work.

I'm also really looking forward to Xenonauts. It's basically the indie version of this. Looks to be a lot more like the original X-Com as opposed to a "re-imagining".

  11. Not me, at least. I don't like all the acts Obama has been passing recently that give police access to things like drones and that whole imprisonment for life thing. Those are scary.
  12. You thought a $500 collection for Harry Potter was naners? Here's Scarface, one movie, for $1000. http://www.amazon.com/Scarface-Limited-Humidor-Blu-ray-Digital/dp/B004TNGLW0

I was worried about buying all the movies individually for $50 last christmas but seeing just how much the box set of Potter costs I'm happy I didn't wait.

It was still cheaper for me. I got the first 6 in double packs from walmart for a total of $36, 7 I got for free on a fluke at BB and 8 was $10 so my total cost was $46

  13. I vote for SimCity for the Nintendo64DD

True, but they're made from parts that are manufactured separately and then shipped out to plants where they are assembled into PCs. If they just started making consoles with PC hardware, there are a few spots they could shave the price a bit. Also, they could do it as a loss leader - the iPad has tiny margins, but brings people to the App Store and Newsstand.

They could also take kickbacks for bundling certain software with it, though to your point, that is also something PC OEMs do already.

iPad has a closed market, just like consoles. You can only (officially) buy Apple apps, PS3 games for your PS3 etc. A PC is open, there's no garunteed way to get any cash back on your loss leader. Valve also can't rewrite how PCs are made. As to your second point, Valve would be the ones making certain software. They'd be the one's paying the kickbacks.

  14. Oh yeah, and you should probably throw in a DVD drive on there, if you haven't.
  15. That all looks solid to me! As for an AMD video card, I've had more issues from them than I have with NVIDIA, but I know plenty of people that swear by AMD cards.
  16. Yup. Based on the current rates of growth and expansion, I think that Islam will take over as the #1 religion in the states as it has in most other countries. In addition, were I to return to a life of faith, I would most certainly choose Islam. I had the pleasure of studying Islam a couple of semesters ago, and frankly, it seems like a much nicer religion.

  19. Think you're just supposed to tap R1 every once and a while down, not the entire way. Hmm, really? I should probably do that then. Now that I think of it, I might have gone through all my oxygen by repeatedly slamming on the button.
