  2. Hey, Criterion? Vertigo's a fantastic film, but it still doesn't stand up to Citizen Kane.

Yeah, this is just a guild of professionals who all ranked their own and then the one with the most points came top. It's not unanimous.

Deadline says he'll be taking a lot of it from the 125 pages of annotations in the Return of the King novel, so it's going into other works, albeit from the same universe.

I wonder if they'll get the rights to some of those novels that Tolkien's son completed.

Well one bit not covered in either book but did happen is gandalf scouting out south mirkwood n then post-hobbit removing the dark sorcere, aka weak sauron, from mirkwood with other wizards. Hence radaghast brown being in.

Flight Ass 3 is just a ripoff of Mile High Club.

  5. Penn State got WORKED. $60 million fine, 4 year bowl ban, 5 year probation, and every win they've had since 1998 is now counted as a loss. They absolutely deserved it, just amazing to see just how severe the punishment is.

Perv molests boys at university. One person sees and reports to his superior who reports to his superior to the school board. Swept under rug, and appears to be a cover up to protect football program. NCAA, governing body of collegiate sports, hands down major punishment against school. Perv goes to jail.

    3. TheRevanchist

Perv is assistant coach, but people are more pissed at school for covering up, and allowing more boys to be assaulted. Rightfully so.

I like him, too. He's hilarious on Podtoid, and he always has something interesting to say.

He's basically got a good point but as usual he overdoes it in a way that will make a lot of people angry at him. And he does it on purpose for page hitss. I can't respect that.

  8. It probably helps that I've sunk into more Batman lore as I went along. Thanks to Arkham Asylum, I recognized when Batman Begins trotted out Victor Zsasz. Also, that kid they protect is Joffrey from Game of Thrones!
  9. Yeah, I might have exaggerated a little because I was having so much fun at the trilogy event, but I really do think that TDKR is a much better movie than anything "super" related this year. It feels a little bloated at times, but all of it remains interesting throughout.
  10. Yeah, both can be enjoyable; it just annoys me sometimes when people heap a bunch of praise on a mindless movie.

^That's what I got out of the first article I read. Based on what I've seen though I don't believe them when they say "it's just as scary". It looked like an action game, not a horror game.

  11. Because people are idiots, and I guarantee you that people are going to blame the movie instead of the guns.
  12. I'm sorry if I offended anyone personally. Didn't mean to, it was just 4 in the morning and my mind was still on TDKR.
  13. I feel like I can't talk about The Dark Knight Rises (easily the best film this year thus far to feature a caped crusader) without pissing off everyone that liked Avengers or Amazing Spider-Man.

    1. VicariousShaner

      VicariousShaner

      I think you've already done that. :P

  14. Dark Knight Rises. It's the first good movie this year that has anything to do with superheros. I won't say it's the "first good superhero movie", because to some people "good superhero movie" means doing exactly what The Avengers and The Amazing Spider-Man did (and good for those people). But this movie has ambition, a drive to make you think and contemplate beyond "Wow look at all these things exploding in my face" and "Hah, he made a funny!" I guess what I'm trying to get at is that The Dark Knight Rises helped me discover that I absolutely loathe the superhero genre in general, and the only reason I've enjoyed most of DC's recent films is because they actually seem to give a shit about creating good movies instead of just skating along on the bare minimum. OK, OK, I'm done insulting the movies you like now. Just go see The Dark Knight Rises.
  15. http://polytroncorporation.com/were-not-going-to-patch-the-patch First the dashboard update deals a severe blow to XBLA sales, and now this bullshit? I'd be amazed if any developer ever signed an exclusivity deal, no matter how brief, with Microsoft ever again.

Well, the payment per patch is old news, and I think Sony has the same thing? But what about what they said about paying MS to be exclusive. I have a feeling that's not entirely true though, because they would be stupid of them to sign up without any perks.

    3. fuchikoma

      fuchikoma

I took it to mean that they're not paid to be exclusive to 360, but they pay to be on the platform. I bet this means that they could also put Fez out on other platforms... if they could afford the licensing/certification fees.

  16. http://www.salon.com...s_her_witchunt/ McCarthyism is alive and well today, apparently. This makes me livid. What an evil fucking individual, desperately craving attention by inventing stories that harm others.
  17. I take it nonexistent, because coffee is garbage.
  18. http://www.scribd.com/doc/78582788/McCain-2008-Oppo-File The Romney back then is a Romney that I might have been willing to vote for. Unfortunately, that Romney no longer exists.
  19. This. PC gaming has rapidly evolved from being about making machines cry with ridiculous hardware requirements to making games that just about anyone on any computer can play. Even if you build or buy a rather modest computer, chances are you'll be able to run the latest games on it for at least 5 years. Hell, on a netbook alone, there are thousands, if not millions of games that can be played, modern games even.
  20. I'm betting on the "will be pointless" side, because it's easier and cheaper to be a pessimist, and also because their Kickstarter page is filled with contradictions and half-truths.
