  1. Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land is free today on iOS. http://www.theverge.com/2012/6/30/3128294/good-deal-call-of-cthulhu-for-ios-free?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
  2. I never played the first one, but the second looks pretty amazing to me. I'll definitely give it a look when it releases.
  3. Glad I grabbed the Nexus when I did; it's a gorgeous phone. And I hope this gets lifted soon, so more people can enjoy it.
  4. Ted. I normally despise everything Seth McFarlane makes, so Ted's inclusion in an "OK Movies" list is a huge step up for him. Many of the jokes were funny, especially if you have any familiarity with Flash Gordon, and it was functional as a movie. That being said, you've seen the same plot in millions of other movies, and every once in a while a Family Guy-esque joke popped up that made me roll my eyes.
  5. http://www.destructoid.com/nintendo-wii-u-online-will-be-free-no-subscriptions-230360.phtml It's nice to see that everyone isn't jumping into the Xbox Live Gold model.
  6. Penny Arcade 3, inFamous 2, and LittleBigPlanet 2.

  8. Since we've brought in a load of fresh new faces very recently, now might be the perfect time to schedule multiplayer sessions, so I worked up a short poll to test the waters and see if there's an interest in starting up events. If I missed anything, let me know.
  9. I don't own Move controllers yet, but I can tell you with some certainty that you guys should pick up the Umbrella Chronicles HD Collection. I own those two games on Wii, and they're the best lightgun shooters I've ever played. Great pacing, filled with all kinds of secrets, and very lengthy for the genre.
  10. I just realized some newbies may be confused when encountering a certain thread, so I'll lay things out; I was dumb when I started that "My Defense of Religion" thread, and I no longer share the same views I had when I wrote that. Quite the opposite, really.

As of a month/2 months back. I really should make that damn "Changelog" thread I'd been dragging my heels on.

  11. He's said several times that he wishes there were no comments. I think this is his way of removing them; he'll keep making the system worse and worse until barely anyone comments, and then he'll remove the system altogether, because "no one uses it, it's weird!"
  12. Yeah, think of it this way. I assume you've seen one episode of Big Bang Theory before, Battra. Notice how they act in a way that no one else, including yourself, acts? Does it kind of irritate you? Congratulations, now you know how LGBT people feel when someone makes a joke about "accidentally" finding a transsexual woman attractive or when a show portrays homosexuality leading to extraordinary fashion sense.
  13. Look, there's no war on Christmas, and there's no war on religion, either, unless you want to call just screaming things into the wind "wars". Here's an example of your so-called "war"; 1. A Christian does something incredibly insensitive. 2. Others call him/her/them out on it. 3. Because Christians have gotten away with it in the past, or because they're being told it's not right to treat others like dirt, they claim discrimination or that a "war" is being fought against them. Also, here's a friendly little hint; when you refer to the LGBT community as "the gays" in a derogatory manner like that, we're not offended so much as bemused. "Oh no, the gays are coming to spread their sparkles and cheer around and somehow infect our children with gaaay!"
  14. It's essentially something conservatives pretend to care about to make it seem like they have a legitimate reason to dislike us, when the reality is they just think we're icky.

  16. Oh yeah, I TOTALLY go for whatever the president does, despite still being absolutely pissed by the unmanned drone laws. You're free to say you don't care for the health care plan passing, but I am not some sheep that simply accepts whatever the Democrats say. My arguments can't just be written off as bleeding heart liberal garbage, because I do not side with either party. The party system is SILLY. I'm simply voicing my support for many Democrat policies recently because most of them aren't insane ramblings of a generation too selfish to let anything change for the better, and who falsely believe that ANY time was better than the present.

  19. Yay, PajamaSam! I remember you from Kotaku back when I frequented the site. Nice to have you on board.
  20. I thought it was a single scout troop that allowed an LGBT member in, and then the rest of the Girl Scout troops disavowed it. EDIT: No, wait, got my facts wrong, never mind. Sorry. Girl Scouts are fine.
  21. The Scouts, Girl or Boy, have always been run by insensitive fucks, like the people that kicked that transgendered girl out of the Scouts. Part of me would be fine if they kept disallowing LGBT people in their little hate group; it'll die faster, and their irrelevance in the modern world would be further cemented. However, it just isn't fair to the children. I'd hate to be the parent that has to explain to their child they can't go camping with their friends because it's run by a bunch of idiots who hate other human beings for completely ridiculous reasons. EDIT: Got my facts wrong, Girl Scouts are much more tolerant. Good on Girl Scouts, but Boy Scouts are still garbage.

Farewell old, fragile, warpy, twisty, stretchy film. Just another example of a superior technology winning out over nostalgia.

    4. Battra92

      Battra92

More like cheap winning over nostalgia. Film still beats digital in terms of longevity and as an archive medium. That could change, yes but but right now film is superior on that front. What going all digital WILL do is put a lot of the remaining mom and pop or small chain movie theaters out of business. It's a fragile business model as it is and I think the added costs and crappy movies will just kill it completely.
