Before I was hoping Microsoft's next console would be awesome. Then I was indifferent to it. Now I'm actually hoping they crash and burn at E3 and the whole presentation is shit so there isn't any temptation. If they manage to succeed with the Xbox One in the next gen, it will set a very bad precedent for consumer rights in the future.

I'd be fine with more PS2 ports. I'm starting to find that JRPGs work better on a portable anyway.

Oh god, I'm actually starting to get annoyed at just how bad the grumps are about not reading tutorials or instructions recently. That glover series is painful to watch. But back on topic, I really disagree with the guy in the video. Cosmo is a pretty piss-poor comparison. Games aren't supposed to just be "by men, for men" the way Cosmo is by women and for women. And the argument of "if you want better representation then do it yourselves" is just plain fallacious. Even if tons of women right now are trying to get into the gaming business, not only is it really hard for them to establish themselves, but most of these companies are owned and run by male executives. So unless all the female devs decide to make their own indie game featuring a STRONG INDEPENDENT WOMAN WHO DON'T NEED NO MAN, then the solution isn't that simple. (I'm just kidding with the independent woman crack. I couldn't resist.)

Also, considering this NSA story, don't believe Microsoft when they say the kinect can be set to not listen to you. Seriously, don't do it. Remember back I said I knew a guy in the government who warned me about the Xbox? This is exactly what he was talking about.

If steam ever does shut down (which would probably require the death of gaming as we know it), Valve has promised to unlock all the games on your account so you don't need steam to play them. I can't say I'm so optimistic as to believe Microsoft would be equally generous.

It really irks me to think that with the way they've set this system up, even if you look past all that bullshit and buy yourself an Xbox One and have all kinds of fun with it, the day will come when it just turns into a useless brick hogging up shelf space. I can still play my old Sega Genesis if I want to, but someday Microsoft is going to pull the plug on the servers for this thing.

Maybe I'm just reading the wrong discussions, then.
