  1. Oh my god, this right here is probably the biggest problem with the entire thing. It isn't an all-in-one entertainment machine, it just gives the pretense of one. If the Xbox One could actually deliver movies and tv programs to you by itself through a subscription, even if it cost more than Live does now, then I could maybe see how people might be tempted by that. But it doesn't. It's smoke and mirrors. You really shouldn't call it the Xbox One when it can't even do all this crap on its own. More like the Xbox One-Half. As it is, it's nothing more than a glorified source button on your tv remote. But you know, I still could have forgiven that if not for the RIDICULOUS online requirements and DRM. When you figure those in, this might be the worst console I've ever seen. Hell, I can play a god damn Virtual Boy without having to worry about server connections if I wanted to. With the way this thing has been built, it'll eventually be worthless as a retro gaming device.
  2. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-05-22-phil-harrison-tries-again-to-clarify-game-ownership-second-hand-sales-and-always-online-in-xbox-one You're breaking my balls, Harrison.
  3. Microsoft, can you please just agree on an answer to this DRM question? I dunno which one of you is right, but the rest of you are filthy liars.

Offline is allowed, that's the only thing they have clarified. You can still play your games and watch movies and stuff (local content, not streaming obviously) even if your connection goes out. It does require a connection, but not a constant one.

      Faiblesse Des Sens

TheMightyEthan they haven't said anything about launching the game/movie offline and there are conflicting reports for just how long you can be offline before you need to "check in." So yes, a constant connection isn't required, but it does require an Internet connection.

Phil Harrison said you'd have to log in once every 24 hours for the console to keep functioning. But then other people immediately tried to backpedal from his comments so who the fuck knows.

  4. I hope nobody made a drinking game out of Microsoft saying the word "TV," because if they did then those people are dead now.
  5. http://www.polygon.com/2013/5/21/4353580/kinect-always-listening-on-xbox-one-privacy-is-a-top-priority This is just creepy. I know someone who works in computer forensics for the government, and he claims that congress is trying to somehow get microsoft to use the kinect for spying. Mind you, this is just a rumor I heard from one government employee so he might be full of shit, but it's still not something I like to think about. I want to be able to turn that fucking camera off.
  6. You know, if everything is voice controlled, and you live with a douche bag, what's gonna stop them from constantly trolling you when you're on the damn thing?
  7. http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/05/21/xbox-one-live-tv-only-available-in-the-us-at-launch Well, it's confirmed that all the tv channels come from your cable box and not from the Xbox One itself. For a device so glorified by Microsoft as a unified entertainment device, can someone please tell me what the fuck it even does besides act as a voice controlled tv remote?
  8. So Microsoft has told kotaku (yeah yeah I know) that the fee for playing a used game is the same cost as a new copy. The greed is just mind blowing.
  9. Oh yeah, they also failed to imply that multiplayer would not require a gold subscription next gen. If that's still the case then to hell with gold. Playstation plus has spoiled me.
  10. The name is really fucking up my Google image searches right now.
  11. If they had 15 exclusives, why didn't they bring one or two along to this thing? I get that e3 is soon but surely they could have spared that many? Even if you don't like killzone , at least Sony was showing actual gameplay and giving us an idea of how the new games will look.

  13. The aesthetics of the console itself aren't that important compared to other details but god damn that thing looks like a betamax player. It's ugly as hell.
  14. So comparing the two systems, which one is more powerful? I'm having a little trouble differentiating some of these specs. http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/21/xbox-one-and-playstation-4-specs-compared/#continued
  15. I dunno if it's just me but the controller didn't look very ergonomic. And what the hell is an impulse trigger?

  17. Sony has confirmed that an online connection is not required to play your games.
  18. Also Sony's stock just went up.
  19. Good lord, that was underwhelming. I can't believe I'm saying this but the most interesting thing at that event was Call of Duty. They'd better bring it a lot harder at E3 than they did today because they're on the verge of losing me entirely. Also they said "always ready and connected." It's official now.
  20. Jesus Christ this is worse than the Wii U presentation. THIS IS WORSE THAN THE WII U PRESENTATION.
  21. We're halfway done and they have yet to show me anything I give a shit about. This is not going well.
  22. Xbox One?! But that's less than 360!
