  1. I saw Spiderman and thought it was pretty good. However, there were a few things that bothered me so let's get the bad stuff out of the way: No real complaints outside of that. The action was good and the effects were decent. It's worth seeing, but at the end of the day I think I still like the first Spiderman movie a little bit more. Yeah, it was cheesier than this new film, but there's something about comic book cheese that I find endearing when it's done right, and in that movie it felt sincere. You could tell that it was being put together by people who really liked comics. Amazing Spiderman was good, but I could never completely shake the feeling that it was being presented to me by a market research team.
  2. I went ahead and bought Persona 1 for the psp (vita) since it's on sale. I figure if I like it I'll buy the second game before the sale ends at the end of the month. If I don't then oh well, it was only 10 bucks.
  3. Was it a date/friend outing? Gifts can be given at anytime, but not everyone likes the same kinds of gifts. You're probably better off consulting a guide because otherwise it's total guesswork as to who will like what gift. The game gives you no help in figuring it out.
  4. Isn't that exactly what the first two are about? I'm still on the fence about buying them, since I hear they have issues with loading times and ludicrously high encounter rates, which I despise in RPGs.
  5. The link itself does not carry over but any personas you unlock from maxing out the links do.
  6. In P3P social links only drop if you say or do something to make the other person upset. Otherwise, you can theoretically max out a link and then completely ignore that person for the rest of the game. You can also date multiple girls/boys at the same time. In fact, in order to get the Orpheus Telos persona you have to max out every single link in a single playthrough. This is a lot harder than it sounds, though, and unless I'm mistaken it's easier to accomplish with the female protagonist than the male one. I should mention that you can ONLY get away with being a cheating ass in P3P. Don't do it in the other versions.
  7. I think that it isn't just something unexpected, but something that's the exact opposite of what is expected.
  8. I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be separate mini-stories like in Uncharted. Or a survival mode about actually surviving in the wild. How cool would that be?
  9. So after playing P3P, is the original Persona worth downloading or should I hold out for P4: The Golden?

I think the only difference is there is more V.O. on P3 on ps2. Though...is it the FES version, if so I think they have additional content at the end that continues the story...don't think P3P had it.

    2. Strangelove

      Strangelove

I think he means Persona 1. I think.

But uhh, i tried to play P1 and I couldn't get into it. Its very "old school." Watch some Youtube stuff and see if youd like it.

As for P3P, it doesnt have the FES stuff. Other than that, P3P is the best version of P3.

      I don't know why I thought P3 instead of persona 1...

P1 is fine if you can get into the combat. its like a hybrid of a tactical rpg with turn based mechanics. Its odd, but fun. I played about 5 or so hours of it...enjoyed it, but had to throw it into my backlog ;(

  10. As far as I can remember, when I got my vita and was looking for PSP games to download, the Persona games were the ONLY ones that cost 40 bucks. I was of the mindset that Atlus was simply too stubborn to let it drop, considering that there were newer games on the PSN store that still cost significantly less. Obviously, I was wrong.
  11. Your point? And I paid 50 for P3 and then another 20 for P3 FES. Now it's on the store for 10 bucks. There's nothing to regret when a game is actually worth the price. Persona 3 definitely has enough content to warrant $50, $40 or whatever price. That may be, but the fact remains that if I'd waited a few weeks I could have gotten it for 20.
  12. I can't believe I paid 40 bucks for P3P...
  13. I find it no more ridiculous than any other religion. Slightly more insidious than some perhaps, though it is at least overt in its efforts to screw its congregation out of their money. I've also got to give them a bit of credit for targeting celebs. It's a genius system. Appeal to the egos of Hollywood stars who spend hundreds of thousands to look young by telling them that they are some sort of immortal superbeing who has forgotten how to live forever. If their "therapy" can help them remember how to be immortal, then they will be young and attractive and useful forever. I have to disagree with you there. I do agree that it's an ingenious scam, but even as an atheist I find the whole Xenu story way, WAY more ridiculous than just about everything in the bible, and that includes Revelations. I mean, if I have to explain why the idea that Jesus raised from the dead is less stupid than the idea that an evil alien overlord shipped billions of people to earth in DC-8s and dropped nukes on them before capturing their souls and forcing them to watch 3D brainwashing movies then I really don't know what more I can say.
  14. You know, in spite of what I said before there is ONE religion that I cannot ever bring myself to even pretend I respect. Scientology.
  15. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. I should note that it wasn't great, but it was good enough for me to put it here instead of the OK movie thread, which to me would mean "meh," which isn't how I feel. I did enjoy it and I'm not sorry I saw it, but I don't see myself buying the dvd when it comes out.
  16. Now what did they do to it?
  17. How many of you guys have played the new map? I must have blown up Poopy Joe about fifty times by now.
  18. I see we have an influx of Kotaku immigrants. How exactly did they fuck up this time?
  19. I used to sorta like Seth MacFarlane for a while until it lost its luster, but the Trailer I saw for Ted made it look like a huge piece of crap.
  20. I also don't really buy into this whole belief that being gay is such a bad thing because the Bible says ALL KINDS of crazy crap but most modern Christians just kinda gloss over the stuff that would be damned inconvenient in today's world. If that specific Bible passage had said "Don't be gay OR watch sports on Sunday" (I know this is a very silly example, but you get my point) then I kinda feel like this wouldn't even be a thing.
  21. For the sake of full disclosure, I do think the whole militant atheism thing is a really high level of douchebaggery. I'm not out there actively trying to get people to give up their faith. I also really don't give a shit about the whole "Merry Christmas" thing or if some town puts up a nativity scene or whatever. There are bigger problems to worry about. A lot of gay people I've talked to also don't like their media portrayal any more than straight people do. There are exceptions, but most of the time if a gay person is on tv he's either a magical pixie or a complete lunatic. It's practically the new blackface.
  22. Saw: The Board Game. I had this one. Was pretty fun but I couldn't tell you the rules if you put a gun to my face. All I remember was that glorious death machine.
