  1. I don't know that I would say Cole is a racist character, just not a very deep one. Gears is a very macho game, and Cole is just as macho as all the other characters. He's not really unintelligent or unlikeable, unless you don't like loud, boisterous types in general. Gears 3 is going to have another black character who is supposedly more subdued and down to earth than Cole, so it will be interesting to see that.
  2. I'm not sure whether to use a keyboard and mouse for the sake of aiming or use a gamepad for the sake of ease of movement/ability access.
  3. Actually a friend of mine won't shut the fuck up about how I need to play Company of Heroes, even though I keep telling him that I don't like RTS games and probably never will because they're just not fun to me. Sorry, but I don't like their gameplay style.
  4. I really didn't like Megamind, or Despicable Me. I thought Megamind "borrowed" waaaaayyyyy too much material from other sources, and that from the minute the movie begins you know how it's going to play out. It just wasn't very fun. The animation was amazing though. My top animated films this year are still Toy Story 3 and How to Train Your Dragon. Haven't decided which I like better, but I'm leaning towards TS3. Really, just because they have 15 years worth of my emotions to play with, and they do it ever-so painfully. I'll give you Megamind, but why didn't you like Despicable Me? When it comes to family movies, not liking one because you know how it goes seems like it might be a tad unfair. There's only so much you can do with these movies and still keep them family friendly. There has to be a happy ending, character development has to be age appropriate for young viewers, and only the ballsiest of family films will kill anybody besides the villain. Even most Pixar films, with some exceptions, don't have a whole lot of surprises. The fun isn't really in being surprised most of the time with movies below a PG-13 rating. It isn't ALWAYS the case, but by and large that's just how it is (unless you go back to old movies, when the G rating meant something totally different). Did you feel the movie just had no charm or likeable characters? I would personally disagree on that point, but I could understand it. And I did love How to Train Your Dragon. I thought it was better than even one or two of Pixar's movies, but it's another case of knowing how it will play out. Boy finds dragon, boy befriends dragon, his dragon hating dad finds out, boy and dragon save the day, dad becomes more open minded, happy ending. It's been done a million times, but that doesn't stop it from being one of my favorite movies this year. Toy Story 3 was incredible, of course. And that one actually couldn't be predicted so easily. But Toy Story 3 tends to be the exception, not the rule.
  5. How do you feel minority groups are treated via their portrayal in contemporary games? How is it compared to earlier, older games? What are current games doing well? What could use improvement? Are there any "racist" games on the market right now? Which characters are good? Which ones are...not so good? Discuss it all here. Please note that this does not include how women are portrayed, unless the woman in question is also a minority. Gender roles is a discussion for a whole other thread.
  6. One more question about the mobile site and then I'll leave you alone. Is there a way to view the status updates that you or others post? As well as the replies?
  7. I am just gonna throw Starcraft II up here. K thanks.
  8. Not that it helps gay people who wanted to join the military.
  9. Lot of interest in rape around here if the member activity tracker is to be believed.

"Hey, does this smell like chloroform?" Is probably this forum's favorite pick up line.

One guy's defensive in a rape trail was that it wasn't rape, it was 'surprise-sex'. True story.

Why you two like rape so much? Rape is bad.

  10. I didn't mind the grind in PSII as much as all the dungeons being almost impossible to navigate because everything is so obtuse.
  11. Super. I fucking hate games that do that. Buy your way to wins! Oh boy!
  12. Looks good to me. Thank you.
  13. Kubo hungry, needs to eat.
  14. I kinda wonder if I should wait for the beta to stabilize before I try this game. First impressions and all.
  15. I was just wondering if it's possible to see online members. I'd feel like a dumbass to keep pulling out my device and checking new content when nobody's even here.
  16. Do admins have any control over how the mobile site looks?
  17. I saw Megamind a good while back. I'd say it's worth seeing once, but I still liked Despicable Me more. I'm also a fan of the concept of supervillain protagonists so I may be a little biased toward it.
  18. Is there a single player practice mode in this game? I don't want to embarrass myself in front of all the veterans here.
  19. I know an orange bubble on the app is a new post, but what's a green one?
  20. It sounds bad when you say it that way, but there are still plenty of gay people who can appreciate that they're probably still way better off in this country than they would be in certain other countries.
  21. Now I don't mean to play Devil's Advocate but are we sure he even meant to hit anyone? He killed himself at the end despite not wounding or killing anybody, so I'm pretty convinced he just wanted to die in a way everyone would see. Firing off a gun inside a crowded room is gonna get you shot by security or police, even if you don't hit anybody. I could be wrong, of course, and maybe he's just a shit shot, but I have my suspicions that he wanted to die more than he wanted to kill someone.
  22. I feel better now, by the way. But I'm sure that will change when I go back to work at 6.
  23. With the state of our military campaigns, you'd think they'd have repealed it way sooner. Still, better late than never.
