  1. I had to choose at the time between 3D Dot Game Heroes and Demon's Souls for budgetary reasons. I ended up going with Demon's Souls. Fuck if I ever have enough uninterrupted free time to make any real progress in it, though.
  2. Fucking hell, the DS seems to have more of these surprise sleepers that simply must be played than anything else (excluding the PC)
  3. I think it's so hyped because it's probably the easiest game to pick up and play for people who have never so much as touched a game boy. And it manages to still be good. I haven't played it in a while though. My OCD doesn't let me skip levels I haven't beaten, so there's this ONE FUCKING LEVEL I just cannot get past.
  4. I don't get why anyone ever felt the need for the XX thing at all. Just say 2550 or something. By the time that year comes around, nobody will even give a shit that your prediction for the future was wrong.
  5. Another one we only had the first floppy for.
  6. I think I actually still have a magazine somewhere with that ad. I have a lot of old magazines from the NES or Sega/SNES days. They're useless now as news or tip sources, but I just can't bring myself to throw them away. Too many memories.
  7. I hate it when games with collectibles or side missions give you no special reward for 100%. No special ending, no ultimate item, nothing. It's just "Hey, you got them all? Nice job. Now fuck off."
  8. Leave it to Sierra to not only kill you for a completely stupid reason, but mock you afterwards for not seeing it coming.
  9. In most games when you lose or die you get either a canned animation or a simple text box. However, some games feel like that's letting you off too light. Some games will try to humiliate or traumatize you either by depicting your demise in exceptionally graphic and drawn-out detail or, in the case of many older or PC games, using text to describe either just how badly you failed everyone or just how agonizing your last moments were. Have you encountered losing scenarios in any game you've ever played that just made you stop and go "That is some fucked up shit!"? Game Over screens that go the extra mile to show the consequences of failure also count.
  10. I pretty much had no choice but to enjoy my genesis more. I would have been a pretty bitter kid if I didn't.
  11. I didn't get an SNES until after the PS1 was out, so I just had the Sega Genesis. Fortunately, I knew a friend who had the SNES, so I still got to play it often. Oh the hours we wasted on Donkey Kong Country...good times.
  12. This topic is for those of us who grew up in the 80s and 90s. When you were a kid, if you had a 16-bit system, which one did you own? If you ended up owning both after the prices plummeted, only count the one you owned back when they were still relevant. Owning both consoles was fairly uncommon since most parents didn't want to buy games for two systems. Which side were you on? Did you get into immature arguments with your peers about how yours was better than theirs? Be honest.
  13. Here's what you get when you youtube "worst music video ever"
  14. Oh my god I HATE the "pile of rocks" road block. What bullshit.
  15. Are you ever going to evolve? How many times have you pushed B? It seems unhealthy for your growth, like drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes as an adolescent.
  16. Hard to find fault with kittens. And Thane's always cool, so...yeah, thumbs up.
  17. That's just too much goddamn meat. I at least need the crunch of lettuce and onions.
  18. I don't even really dislike puzzle games, I just didn't think Braid was as good as everyone led me to believe. I have suspicions the same would hold true of Limbo.
